Best coffee, tea, and other drinks in Toledo, hands down. I’ve been to every other coffee shop on Toledo, Perrysburg, BG, and Bleak House’s latte is always the tastiest. The baristas are friendly, the music is on point, and the atmosphere is cozy. A true gem of Toledo right here!

I gave this place two stars a few years ago when they were at the Sptizer. Since they moved to Adams street the service has improved a lot. Staff is friendly. They have waffles on Saturday which are huge and tasty. I lime that they are carrying local small business food items now. They have Rachel’s ice cream which is the best Ice Cream I’ve ever had and Wholey Toledo Doughnuts which are the best donuts I’ve ever had. No parking lot but plenty of street parking

I like Bleak House a lot. It’s a cute, quiet place to catch up with friends and enjoy a great breakfast. The staff is friendly and the service is pretty quick. They roast Maddie and Bella coffee and it is quite good! They’ve got a nice selection of espresso drinks as well. I tried the cinnamon apple waffles with Rachel’s ice cream and it was really very tasty. I also sampled my friend’s pizza panini and it was good too. Nothing ground breaking here, just good coffee and good food.

This is an awesome spot in downtown Toledo! The service is fast and friendly, with great brews. I’ve never tried the food, but the waffles smelled absolutely delicious coming out of the kitchen when I was there. What a great addition to downtown! Keep it up!

Really great tasting coffee here. I was in twice in the same week(ordering 5 – 8 drinks each time), every drink was spot on. Check this place out for some quality coffee and teas.

Stopped in here yesterday for the first time, expecting to spend a lot on an overpriced drink and sandwich. Boy was I surprised. They had just sold out of the soup of the day, which is what I had settled on trying, oops. So instead I went with a hot chocolate and a turkey pesto panini. The bill was about $ 7, not terrible at all. The drink was fantastic, and the panini, while not the best I’ve ever had, was tasty. The place wasn’t all that busy for 2 p.m. on a weekday. Maybe 10 people in there. I stayed about 2 hours working on my computer. The staff was friendly, and left me alone after they served my food. I like that in a place where I can work. The walls were cool with chalkboards all around for people to doodle on if they wanted to. I didn’t partake, but I was there to work. I’ll pop back in again, it’s a cool place.

I usually drink tea. I recently decided to try coffee and have found that coffee at many national Chain locations taste awful and bitter. Not the case here! No drip coffee! Friendliest baristas ever too! Super fast service! Good prices! My new favorite spot! Thanks so much for the smiles!

Pistachio honey handmade ice cream is really amazing! Have it with a expresso macchiato. Excellent match!

I’ve never been in a coffee shop that I wished was in my neighborhood more than this one. If you’re expecting standard chain coffee prices, you might find it a bit pricey; but this is excellent coffee and these people understand what it means to be apart of a downtown revitalization. Don’t let the storefront deter you, it’s cool inside.

Nice cappuccino — friendly staff — free wifi — cool ambience — didn’t try it but they make their own ice cream too

I went to Bleakhouse after a friend had suggested it one morning and found it fell short… What I ordered: The iced Matcha. What I got: A $ 5 cup of Milk. What I ordered: Decent, casual service with light conversation What I got: «Thanks a Bunch.» and a free flyer by the door that was a year old. What I ordered: A reason to stay until my meter ran out(20 mins). What I got in 5 minutes: Minimal reason to return.

Great pour overs and terrific coffee, Intelligentsia and a local roaster. It’s an eclectic shop with typical coffee house music. Only caveat is late opening at 7:30am and they are closed this weekend. We are here for a convention and there are a lot of people here who love coffee but they are closing for 4th of july? Seems like there will be a lot of foot traffic here.

If you’re hungry and looking for a place with a broad menu then this may not be your place. BUT, if you like a good grilled panini sandwich and your looking for a great cup of coffee or tea then this is your place. I stopped in mid afternoon and was starving so had the panini. It was fantastic. The coffee was even better. Don’t forget to try their ice cream also.

Walked in around mid-morning on a Saturday. Mother-in-law wanted to check it out. it has been our mission the last couple of weeks to start scouting out places downtown to eat and whatnot that are open on weekends. Lots of places, it seems, are only open for the weekday business crowd. First impression… shudder. The place is aptly named. Bleak perfectly describes the ambiance. One table with a couple of patrons and one with a single dude. Hipsters. Not necessarily a bad thing, but looked at us a little too smugly. Hey man, we don’t want to sit with you or even care about you, but at least be cool. The barista(I’m sure she would insist on being called that) was some low-affect waitron that never smiled, did not greet us and seemed totally disinterested in what we might want or even in the fact that we mentioned it was our first visit there. Didn’t see much in the way of food either. There is a chalkboard menu board hanging behind the counter that was full with about 37 various hot beverages and mentioned two sandwiches. The question of «any other food choices?» was met with a blank stare. Jeez, I really like old Wednesday Addams there behind the counter… Oh yeah, and the coffee was nothing special. I’m surprised there is no downtown Starbucks. Bleak House may not make it if this is their idea of welcoming service. The space should be up for lease in the not too distant future.

UPDATE4÷17÷15(5 Stars): Despite being a creature of habit, I recently tried their soy lavender latte. I’ve never been able to describe a hot coffee drink as refreshing until I tried this. I spoke to my director who told me to try it iced next time. Amazing! Apparently, they make this syrup in-house which is impressive as well. It’s rare that I find espresso drinks that aren’t as harsh but isn’t overly sweet. For that, this definitely bumps it up to 5 stars for me! ORIGINALREVIEW2÷17÷15(4 Stars): Very great to have a non-chain coffee shop downtown. The décor is pretty cool. They often have artwork by local artists. The chai is literally some of the best in Toledo, but sometimes it isn’t always hot enough for me. I always allow myself to indulge in one of their sea salt chocolate chip cookies! That cookie alone is worth the stop here!

I didn’t get to stay too long, but I thought this place was an oasis. Easily reachable from the highway, and street parking was no problem. Price was fair for an excellent cup of coffee. Very straightforward, but with a full coffee. I’ll be back.

We stopped here for a post brunch pick-me-up and ended up spending thirty dollars. Worth every cent. Highly recommend the lavender honey latte. I can honestly say it may be the best latte I’ve ever enjoyed. Also… Handmade pumpkin cheesecake ice cream? Where have you been all my life?

Finalllllllyyyyyyy a seriously good indie coffee shop in Toledo! I’m so so so happy this has stuck around. I’ve lived out of state for a while now, but when I come back to visit I always make time for Bleak House. A great vibe, tasty baked goods(they’re fresh and good quality), friendly service, and GOODESPRESSO. INTOLEDO. Game over.

Wow, the new shop is really coming together. The buildout & counter are gorgeous. If you haven’t checked out Bleak House Coffee’s new location, and you’re a fan of delicious coffee it’s worth a try. They have an expanded menu including egg sandwiches, and they open at 6:30AM! They are even open saturdays which for Downtown is a rare find. My second double espresso of the day(I spilled the first one on the counter! doh!) was delicious. Perfectly pulled and tasty. I had a sample of the new house made ice cream by the lovely chef Rachel and DAMNGURL was it ever good. They sell it out of a freezer in the front and make it fresh! While I didn’t try any food today, there were lots of jars filled with homemade breads and cookies and it looks like they are doing salads as well. This upgraded location is a great addition to Downtown Toledo’s growing food scene!
