We have made Sakura my annual traditional birthday dinner with family and friends. Super good food. Be sure to make a reservation though. Definitely worth it!

Tuna rolls are on point here. The big hibachi grill with veggies and meat galore… can’t go wrong. Well… you can… but they don’t. Yes, yes… cook my food and throw pieces via hibachi sword sailing through the air into my mouth. The only establishment I generally enjoy being treated like a sea world attraction. Saki goes down well. Super entertaining, friendly, funny cooks and wait staff. Great place to take a date. They get super peppy after 5pm.

I ate here a few years ago on a weekend night and it was packed out the door. We got a drink at the bar and we were seated very quickly. I really liked the atmosphere and food and service. Well worth it to have a meal here

There were 14 of us in our annual Christmas party group sitting around one of the hibachi grills and we ordered almost everything on the menu. We were rewarded with friendly servers and chefs, great food and awesome cocktails. We brought some of the food home because the portions were generous. I had the steak and lobster(served with a couple shrimp tossed on top), which I thoroughly enjoyed! The group had ordered six different appetizers and they all were very tasty. It will be easy to stray from what we ordered and try a different dish the next time we go, everything we tried was well prepared and delightful to the taste. We had reservations, so we only had about 15 minutes to chat around the bar. The place was busy for a Wednesday night. We all had a pleasant and enjoyable dining experience and will definitely return.

Typical hibachi type restaurant. Ordered sushi and the money bags, which is their take on crab Rangoon. The food and service were okay. Menu selection was diverse. Staff recommendations were okay. For what it is, it is not worth the cost.

I am lucky to travel to Toledo about 5 times a year. This restaurant is a must Stop for our crew. We have ordered sushi, noodles, and hibachi, and we are NEVER disappointed. It is a faithful steak house with great food and excellent entertainment. Cannot argue with their late night happy hour sushi specials either. Always a packed house! ENJOY

This place is ok… nothing too special about it. The fare was pretty average to me since I’m used to all the selection I have in California. I went back home to Toledo to visit and wanted to take my little sister out. We decided on this place because it looked modern and I wanted to try it. I think the thing that surprised me most were the prices. It’s pretty expensive for a restaurant in Toledo, but I don’t often go back home so I’m not really sure what the price ranges are for sushi. I think I would try this place again after trying a few other restaurants. I feel like I couldn’t gauge this restaurant very well since I’m not as familiar with the restaurant scene in Toledo. But it’s pretty average when comparing it to the Japanese restaurants in Sac.

The habachi is awesome. I love their fried ri ce and steak. The atmosphere is inviting and service pretty fast. I like watching the cooks do their little tricks. The ginger sauce is amazing and they have huge portions. The only negative is when I say medium well its always well. Next time i think I will say medium. Great place though!

The food is second rate. Pretty slow establishment. Definitely didn’t help that our order was incorrect and when we asked the waitress to take it off our bill the manager came out and berated us that it was our fault the order was wrong and that because we ate a piece of the sushi we didn’t deserve a refund. Wait staff was delightful. Inside smelled of burnt pancakes and fish food.

Our son ordered the hibachi filet mignon with fried rice and vegetables, it melted in our mouth. We ordered crab salads and sushi. All the food was amazing! I highly recommend the dynamite roll and the kangaroo roll(that’s not on the menu). If you go on Friday or Saturday nights, sushi is half off after 9:30.

This is the most underwhelming place for sushi in Toledo. I’ve actually had nicer sushi from Kroger. The rolls were chewy and the sashimi dinner included imitation crab. Go for hibachi but give the sushi a miss.

I am definitely a fan of Sakura — one of the main reasons being the social atmosphere. I also appreciate the Monday-Thursday 4:30 — 6:30 half priced apps and $ 2 drafts at the bar… I ordered pretty much all the apps when I found out they were like $ 3 each.(yakitori, rock shrimp tempura & tuna tataki were all so good!) The miso soup is pretty average nothing super amazing, I usually order it anyway. Onto the sushi I have ordered the Super Sakura, Y2K, Angel, Hot Babe, and the Spicy Girl. My faves were Super Sakura and the Hot Babe. I wasn’t really a fan of the Angel. They also have a nice list of cocktails, martinis, etc. The place is pretty big — good for big groups. The staff is pretty friendly and gave me some good recommendations on which items to order. One thing that did confuse me was when I heard country music playing on the radio… I’m a fan of country, but at a Japanese Steakhouse? whatevs.

Over 3 years later, still the same. First I’ll note that the«Now Hiring» sign on their main sign out front has been up for 5 years. This should be your first sign not to eat here. I didn’t want to go back here, but some friends were in town and really wanted to, so I went. Just like all my previous experiences the service is terrible. Sushi is very over priced and portions are small. I’ll still give it 2 stars because the Hibachi is average. It’s like people eat here because they don’t know about all the other amazing sushi restaurants in Toledo, it’s sad.

Delicious food! Truly awesome environment and great staff on board. My waitress was Tiffany and she was absolutely friendly and helpful. I will definitely visit again when I’m back in town for work! Macy M. Duluth, GA

This place makes for a great meet-up spot to relax with some friends after long work week. The sushi is very good, the hibachi is excellent, and the service is fast. A small concern I had was not being able to order vegetable gyoza, as I don’t eak pork products but that was totally fine and understood. I would say the prices however are a bit steep, but that’s not to say the quality of sushi isn’t there.

Hibachi here is okay. I do love hiba chi, so I go back for it– always a fun thing to do with friends or family. It is quite salty, a lot of butter is used, but isn’t that always the case? In any case, I usually stick with the steak hibachi with fried rice, sometimes of for the scallops. Sushi here is fine as well. I go back, but not the best I’ve had.

I was impressed with the menu and quality of the food. It seems everyone was having fun. It was a different kind of experience for me as I had never been to a Japanese Steak House previous. I was in the mood for steak AND Sushi and to try Sake… and Sakura did the trick. SPRINT Cell signal inside OK WiFi Unknown

Please note that my review reflects everything EXCEPT the sushi. I am critiquing the service, hibachi and menu. I will start off with three words to describe this place: 1) Overpriced 2) Underseasoned 3) OVERRATED. Clearly you are paying for the hibachi show that is put on by the chefs at the table. I am appalled by all the rave reviews of Sakura. This is especially concerning since you can see everything that they put in the food. Fried Rice– Rice, butter, eggs, soy sauce, and maybe salt and pepper. How basic!!! The vegetables and meat are seasoned similarly. The cook looked extremely offended when I asked him for the sesame seeds off of his cart. I was looking for some sort of flavor. He obviously wasn’t using it on our food, and I figure that I am entitled to it at entrees starting no less than $ 20 a piece. Furthermore, the clear liquid in a squirt bottle that they sometimes pour on the food and use to ignite an onion volcano is… sake…WRONG. That would be the appropriate choice, especially if you went for the $ 32 entrée. Guess again, it is vodka.(At least they use the high end spirits.) WRONGAGAIN. It is Kamchatka folks. Yes, your filet was doused with grocery store vodka. Let’s now address the final problem which is the most important– cross contamination. Just watch how the platter of vegetables is stacked on top of the raw meat. Then the cook places the tray on the edge of the grill, thus exposing raw meat on the edge of the grill. He then puts a raw piece of zucchini on this ledge to cut it up in order to fling it into customer’s mouths. Now if I pointed this out to every diner, most wouldn’t set foot into the place again. The two stars are given for the décor and freshness of the ingredients. Another side note: The background music is modern pop, which is terribly off-putting. Nothing like a restaurant claiming to be high-end blasting 92.5. Completely ridiculous. If you want me to cook you a flavorful Japanese meal for ½ of the price, let me know.

QUESTION: Why would a guy who really doesn’t care for Japanese food eat at Sakura at least 60 times in the last 5 years?(Unfortunately, I’m not kidding… it’s probably more like 100 times.) PROBABLEREALANSWER: His California-girl wife loves sushi. ANSWERHEGIVESHIMSELF: Sakura is a fun and happening spot which has very good teppanyaki(which he does like). From the grill, I’ve had the chicken, filet mignon, tuna and even the scallops. Nothing unique about the taste of these items, but they are always very well prepared. HEGOESONTOADD: They have a good enough selection of sake and beer, not to mention a drink menu that is diverse and ever changing. Bakon Bloody Mary? Woo Hoo! It’s nice to hang out and imbibe on the patio during the summer months. Know this: Sakura can get busy and you may end up waiting up to 30 minutes from the time you sit down until the time your chef makes it to your teppan. But hey, that’s what appetizers and side dishes(not to mention booze) are for. You might wait even longer to sit down. The waitresses, however, have always been great. Sushi? Oh yeah, I hear tell that they make sushi at Sakura, too. Six thumbs up from my wife, my brother-in-law, and my mother-in-law. The only thing I’m qualified to add is the following: If it’s the taste of seaweed that is holding you back, the sushi chefs at Sakura are willing to use rice paper instead, for no, or only a nominal, extra fee. Worth a visit or two. Or 60. Or 100.
