I have been driving by their signs on 94 for years so finally decided to stop by. Big mistake. Staff was great and a nice atmosphere but my $ 18 dinner had to be just warmed up Sysco pre made food with Campbell’s Cream of Chicken soup as the sauce.

I came into this restaurant expecting something along the lines of the Amana Colonies. I like the idea that the pub and dining areas are separated. We chose the dining area expecting it to be quieter than the pub, it was not. I think it was a mix of louder people and the acoustics of the room. I am not disappointed I was just expecting more of German Bavarian menu. Our rolls were good but would have been better warm. The butter was too hard to even be used. I decided on the Friday night Fish Special. I added the second piece for $ 1.95. I’m glad I chose the second piece, I would have still been hungry with just one. I would compare it to nearly any other fish and chips. The mixed vegetables were delicious. The coleslaw was not something that would leave a lasting memory. My paramour had the jäger schnitzel. It came with spaetzle and the mixed vegetables. The schnitzel was not smothered in jäger gravy as I am used to. It was served over the spaetzle, not how I am used to seeing it. She agrees the vegetables were delicious. We will be back to further explore the menu.

What a find! On our way back from Minneapolis to Chicago we stumbled on this place. Close to the interstate, you might not find it if you blink. Anthony was wonderful: patient and kind with our elderly parents. The food was«home cooked» with a wide variety to please everyone. We had the fried chicken special(loved the stuffing!), salmon BLT, chicken spätzle soup, and chicken cranberry wrap. Tried the soul-warming hot pretzels, too! Make sure you leave room for the amazing desserts! We shared the chocolate mousse pie(chocoholic delight!), pumpkin bread pudding with maple sauce, and fantasy pie(thick layer of coconut). We marked it on our car’s GPS for if we are ever back this way. We shopped at the adjacent shop and loaded up Christmas gifts at great prices, too. What was to be a stop for a quick bite and fuel ended up being satisfying fun for all!

I have been to this café many times over the years. They use very fresh ingredients. The desserts are outstanding. I haven’t had one thing on the menu that I haven’t liked. If you like mushrooms, the portobello burger is really good. The prices are average for the area. It’s definitely a place worth checking out!

Very bad and slow service. Food was just okay. I asked when the desserts were made and the waitress said they come frozen and can be out for 5 days!

This was a nice little visit. I got the trio of soups which typically comes with wild rice(a creamy blend), chicken spaezel and the soup of the day(it happened to be tomato basil bisque). All of the soups were good and enjoyable. The dish came with crackers covered in a variety of seeds and spices which were lovely, Zesta saltines and an herby bread with butter. The bread didn’t have as much flavor as it could have– perhaps the spices used could be fresher as they appeared to be dried spices that were not as flavorful. For dessert we split the triple berry crisp and the Dutch Apple pie– both were terrific and would be worth ordering again. The pies were the highlight in a solid choice.

Good hearty food! Quick service and good prices. Unique building with grocery store next to restaurant. Close to I90. Definitely a «do over»

Been here twice since being here at Ft McCoy. This has to be the best restaurant in this town. The next best is KFC. Yes the restaurants are that bad. You get the amount of food you pay for. The desserts are soooo good and the people are extremely friendly. Haven’t had the best of luck with some of these areas but this place, and most of the businesses in this town are, make up for the ones that aren’t. Haven’t seen it crowded which isn’t bad and doesn’t speak for the food.

Neat decoration but not the best value. Ravioli and cod were decent but the NY Strip was not a good cut nor value at all. Thin cut and tough. Can’t say I’d go back again.

My family has traveled extensively throughout Europe and this was in no way European food. It was expensive and the service was awful. We waited over 15 minutes for our server to come and take our drink order. That should have been our cue to find somewhere else to eat. However, we foolishly trekked on. We ordered the Hungarian chicken paprikash, the jaeger snitzel, fried fish and the children’s hamburger. We also tried to order the pretzels as an appetizer, but that never came. The server brought 2 slices of bread(like really 2 slices commercial wheat bread) out for 4 people. Strike one. I’m not even going to go into my pet peeve of restaurants trying to pass garden weeds off as a salad, some people like that but I do not. Our glasses were empty most of the dinner, strike two. Our app never came, strike three. The biggest disappointment was the paprikash. What came out was nothing like any paprikash I have ever had. It was almost inedible. The sauce looked like watered down sour cream tinged slightly with paprika. I have never has spaetzel like that either. It tasted like a cheese based abomination instead of the delicious dumplings they should be. Chicken paprikash should be cooked in white wine and chicken broth and seasoned with Hungarian paprika and sour cream. This was not. The jaeger snitzel was a very nice deep fried pork chop. But it wasn’t jaeger snitzel. My son’s cod was about the best dish on our table and it was very good. That is the nicest thing I can say about our entire meal. The 5 star ratings posted for this place have to be employees, friends or relatives. Give this place a pass.

Chicken spaezel soup is a winner. Can order to go. Amish chicken noodle casserole very good. Also like to try their gift shop. The cashew brittle is fantastic. Best i ever tried. On most visits we eat in the restaurant where service is great. But when we stopped on a Sunday, only the Pub was open Service in pub was terrible. Waitress ignored us. She seemed to be wishing we’d go eat elsewhere. I asked for the baked chicken but she claimed they were out already. Said she didn’t have time to remove that item from the menu board. Interesting since there was only one other occupied table in the place. After we glared at her, she finally had one of friendly servers take our order. In spite of this one bad experience, i think the place is well worth a visit.

Visiting some SF, I didn’t really have that many choices. I came across Burnstad’s on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Some locals recommended the local white wine(sorry, forgot the name) which was really good. I ordered the Chicken Breast Normandy and Four Cheese and Artichoke Dip. The dip was sooo good. The chicken dish was ok — could use a little bit more seasoning. Overall, not a bad place to stop by.

Not a bad lunch. The pork Schnitzel sandwich was very good. The potato salad had a lot of dressing and was oddly sweet. Good service.

Good atmosphere, good food, bad service. Waitress was rude when taking our order and only returned to serve our food and bring our check. No water refills were even offered. With better service this would be 5 stars, although expensive, the food is worth it.

Based on the service alone this would be a negative star. We waited for 45 min for our food. Our waitress appeared to regret being at work. She walked by numerous times without asking if drinks needed to be refilled nor did she clear plates. Food however was perfectly cooked and delicious. We were expecting a true European menu and only a few items were truly European. Maybe if we had better service we would be back as the food was worth it.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find this gem while visiting Wisconsin on business. In fact, it was so good, we ate there twice. My husband tried the rice soup and we shared the pretzel appetizer. Delicious. He also had the schnitzel while I had the special, which was 3 types of fish prepared differently. The herb crusted was especially good! This is an easy restaurant to recommend to anyone in the Tomah area.

Travelers can’t beat this spot near the confluence of I-90/I-94 to stretch their legs and get a bite to eat. It’s like an upscale grocery store sprouted a gift shop, a clothing store, and a kitchen for a restaurant and an adjoining pub. You can enter at one of the main entrances on the North side(facing Hwy 12) or drive around to the West entrance to access the full-service meal options. If you want self-service and total control of portion sizes/diet choices, you can eat on the cheap at the clean and inviting tables located at the rear of the deli section. The deli is huge, with a salad bar and a hot bar, as well a thousand tempting foodstuffs including a gluten-free aisle. Then you have two other choices for meals served by waitstaff. If you want a booth, choose the restaurant(northwest corner of building, turn left after entering west entrance). The pub has the same menu but has an enormous bar as its salient decoration. I found both locations attractive and clean. My husband enjoyed the Greek Chicken salad because it featured spinach and very moist grilled chicken. In fact it was so moist we suspected it was«formed», but our waitress told us it was actually tenderized by a spiked mallet before grilling. He liked the dressing, but thought the amount of additional veges(cucumber, onions, olives, bell pepper, pepperoncini) was too meager for it to be «great». My salad sampler was surprisingly low in mayonnaise, so I liked it a lot. The Chicken Spaetzel soup was a little too salty to be perfect. Our waitress(Emily) was friendly, perky, and faultless.

I am always grateful for a place to get a healthy meal traveling along 94 on my way through Wisconsin and I am very happy to have found this place. You can just stop by next door and get some prepared food at their grocery. They have a salad bar, soups, sandwiches, hot chicken etc. We didn’t really realize it until after we had finished our lunch at the restaurant. I had wild rice soup and chicken salad on a croissant. I thought they were both pretty good. I ordered it with sweet potato fries that were pretty perfect and served with a delicious chipotle mayo? sauce on the side. The croissant wasn’t really great but the chicken salad was very good. The soup was a little heavy for Summer and my taste in general but again was good. The service and prices were fair and am not sure what there is for folks to complain about. Just pause and be grateful for anything besides fast food out here in the middle of nowhere. Have a salad!

We stopped here while traveling and tried a couple of the roll up sandwiches. The food was good but really nothing special although if you are looking around there is not a lot of competition. Service was good and friendly atmosphere was a little different as it’s in kind of small mall with grocery, clothing etc. No real complaints but not really thrilled over anything either. Maybe dinner would be better.

This is really a good place to hang out. I came here with some friends for drinks and ended up having dinner here. The ribeye was cooked exact to order. I heard the German dishes are good too. I’ll have to come back for it some other times. Not sure how much the drinks were, but the bill for five drinks was $ 31. The staff was very friendly. The owner even sat down and had a drink with us. I’ll definitely come back here next time I’m in town.
