Pub 1850

The GF and I really enjoyed dinner here. Great appetizer menu, I highly suggest the shrimp scampi appetizer which comes in fresh baked bread bowl, this was to die for!
I had the open face filet mignon sand which topped with mushrooms and onions and mozzarella cheese, it was fantastic. I got a side of roasted potatoes which were seasoned and cooked to perfection.
Diane had the pub steak which came with drizzled onions and parmigiana garlic fries and a salad. The portion was enormous and it was delicious. The drinks are good, big selection of beer and wine. We passed on dessert but what went by us looked good! The ambience is nice, comfortable and our server was excellent,

My husband and I went here on Saturday night January 16^th. We were hesitant about going here due to unpleasant experience when it was Mulligans. We tried to go to Outback first, but the wait was over an hour, so we decided on Pub 1850.
We arrived at 6:30 pm, and were greeted very nicely by the host. It was sort of busy with only 2 open tables. We were sat right away, and our server Tori was fantastic. Smiling, friendly, and extremely attentive,
We shared the garlic shrimp bowl appetizer. It’s a bit spicy, but if you love garlic, and we love garlic, we enjoyed it very much. They give you a big steak knife with it so you can cut up the bread to dip it in the sauce when you done with the shrimp.
I had the sirloin steak with shrimp scampi. It was done perfect. My husband had the sliced steak on garlic toast. It looked a bit overdone, but he enjoyed it. He chose the garlic French fries as a side. Very tasty and different. As you can tell, we really like garlic… if you are a garlic lover, I think you will be pleased. The menu offered a wide variety of other dinner choices as well.
From appetizer, to salad, throughout our dinner, our server Tori was spot on knowing when to check in on us. Never had to ask for anything. She noticed when our drinks were empty right away, and she was relatively busy. She kept an eye on all her tables, and in my opinion, a great multi tasker. The owner, or manager even came to our table while we eating our dinner to check to see how things were.
We were going to get desert, but the desert menu was limited. That was okay though cause everything else was very good.
We will be going back. Hope they keep up the good work.

I’m surprised about some of the lower reviews. We get take out and go for dinner quite frequently. The raspberry or strawberry mojitos are awesome. My boyfriend is a penne vodka lover and the Pub’s is our favorite out of many places he gets it from, including better than Italian restaurants (and I’m Italian.) The pub pretzels with the dipping sauces and the shrimp bread bowl are awesome (although the shrimp bowl seems to have shrunk since the Pub opened) The mediterranean app platter is really good too, with several different flavored hummus. I almost always get the seared tuna wrap (yummy ginger sauce on it) so cant’ offer too much on the other entrees, but when we went with my parents and siblings, they all liked thiers. OH, and the FUNNEL CAKE FRIES gives new meaning to O-​M-​G!

I first came here with a friend to grab a drinks awhile back. I saw the burgers that were coming out of the kitchen and was impressed. Finally got around to having a meal with the girlfriend here after a few people told me the food was great. I was kind of disappointed, however. We went during the football games and I expected it to be packed and barraged with people. There was a good size crowd, smaller than expected. We order the pretzels for apps which were pretty good. The girlfriend ordered the chicken avocado. It was plain and had no taste. I ordered the classic burger medium rare with provolone, frizzled onions. My burger came with bacon which I did not order. It was also cooked well done. I was a little upset but I am in the industry and understand their could be faults in the kitchen. I ate half, mentioned to our server who was delightful (but was never around, could be because the bar was packed I don’t know, we were only 1 table out of 4), about the mistake. She told me they would make me a new one but I declined, I do not like to waste food so I carried on. I will give a second try but I may be a but more adamant on our order next time.

I am torn with pub 1850. A friend and i went for dinner. We hadn’t been there since it had reopened. Drinks were average price which was fine and dinner was ok. We specifically went for burgers. The burgers were decent. Service was just ok. We could not get a second drink which was a little irritating and we found the space was very loud. I typically dont mind loud but in this case the echo was so loud we couldn’t hear each other talk. I wouldn’t recommend pub 1850 over some other restaurants but will likely go back.

Great happy hour, solid apps, and I’m 3 for 3 when I decided to order entrees. I always sit at the bar so can’t really comment too much on the service but the food is always really good.

Some of the best food in toms river. Great beer selection on draft and great sangria. Every entrée I’ve had here has always been good and the presentation is always impeccable. I highly recommended the Chicken Murphy. Don’t listen to negative reviews this place is on point!

The hamburgers and service are a cut above. I enjoy sports bars and this one is one of the best.

Just left after a great beginning to happy hour. Half price most apps. Sliders and beef tips wonderful. Great South of the Border nachos. Good Strongbow on tap which is rare. Bar maid Teresa was more than attentive. Will be back

Some things were decent but overall the experience was lack luster. Our party of 4 went in on Saturday night around 830 pm. It was busy and obvious from the service of the hostess that it would be a shaky dinner out. Lots of sour faces throughout the staff, from the hostess to the servers. Our server was fine, but we were not in his actual section, which meant little to no attention when needed. The steak ordered med rare had no color at all, but it was tasty so I didn’t complain. The food did come out relatively fast but our parties observation of the restaurant told another story. The biggest problem was that no one wanted to work. We watch one server roll his eyes when he got a new table. We sat by and watched tables only get cleaned when a party was waiting for a table. If no one was waiting, the tables stayed dirty. We watched at least 20 walk byes of empty handed servers, hostesses, and expeditor ignoring the table right next to us. It was dirty and without customers from before we sat until after we left. Even the person who seemed to be in charge walked by 5+ times and turned his head away to not see the dirty table. Not a single person tried to even help clean up until I asked that someone please clean the table. We watched a dirty, unoccupied table remain untouched for over an hour. We also watched servers come to tables to pick up their tips, but not dare lift a single dirty dish or glass. If you don’t want to listen to customers, provide friendly service, and clean up afterwards, than restaurant service will not work. 75% of the staff would have been best served by being fired on the spot. It’s obviously a problem from the management on down, and I wouldn’t expect anything different anytime soon. So no, we won’t be back.

Tried this place for the first time since it opened as Pub 1850 and was really pleased. Much better than the previous restaurant located here (Mulligans). Everything we had was awesome. Spinach & Artichoke Dip, Filet Mignon Sandwich, Pub Steak – all great. Will definitely be going back.

I wish I could give 0 stars. Me and my mother went for her 49^th birthday. Service was slow and rude. My mother ordered a burger and the waitress didn’t ask how she wanted it and it came out practically raw. Sent it back and the chef came out and gave us a hard time. Will never be going back.

Wasn’t very happy maybe we went too soon after they opened. Girls night out here looking forward too it when my friend found a receipt in her bloodymary after drink half of it! She was freaking out that she drank out of a dirty glass and all they did was get her a new one and still charged her. Just left us with a bad taste in our mouths accidents happen but if feel we should have been better accommodated for that incident

Great food, friendly service and friendly owner. I would recommend this place for a great dinner or happy hour. Come by for a fun place to have a drink and an enjoyable time.

Service was awful. It shouldn’t take more than twenty minutes to get a drink. Bartenders were unfriendly and food was just decent. My friends and I will not be returning anytime soon.

I like the food here, and the menu is different, with plenty of original options. I LOVE that it’s not just another chain in Ocean County. The décor is nice and they brightened it up on the inside so it’s not quite so dark. However, this place is slow, slow, slow! I’ve been in there when there’s more servers than patrons and it still takes forever to get food for 2 people. I still like going here, but I need to find the time for a 3 hour session. It’s a shame, because it looks like they hired a ton of new staff.

Food is excellent. Great selection of foods. They now have an Early Bird menu. All the football games are available on Direct Tv. I had the Chicken Parm which was excellent and had enough leftover to take home to enjoy.

This place was good! It was my first time here and I will be back. They have a big menu with a lot of different options. The pretzels are delicious. They have a pretty big bar with plenty of TVs.

Food was average. Service was TERRIBLE. Outrageously slow. When my food finally arrived the server handed us our plates instead of putting them down in front of us. Mine was so hot I burned my hands… Definitely not going back.

The décor is beautiful! Very clean and the staff is all friendly. Food was very good. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn’t busy at all. maybe 3 – 4 tables for each of the servers I saw. But our food took FOREVER to receive! I don’t know if it was the kitchen or if the server forgot to put in our order but we waited a ½ hour after our appetizer to receive our food.
The prices are very fair and it was very quiet in the restaurant. Overall happy but that food wait has to decrease a little for us to keep coming back.
