UYE – If Someone’s Having a Quick One, Don’t Be A Peking Tom

OK, so this place has amazing food, and everyone shared their food around which was super awesome, and it was all delicious, especially Alex’s Poached Spicy Pork and Katherine’s Crispy Spicy Fish. And for that reason the event should get five stars.
But this host guy is really a jerk. First of all, he shows up late for his own event. And we’re all like, WE’RE STARVING, D**CHE. And he’s all, brushing his hair on the way in. Seriously this guy is enough to put you off your food. But we ordered anyway.
And then, to make matters worse, he tells our adorable CM Alex to order this «Poached Pork» thing, and then only AFTER he has it in front of him and is slurping it down, he says «oh by the way, don’t drink the juice, it’s oil, it’ll kill you.» Yeah, thanks for the heads up, A**.
And who does an event on a snow day? Seriously it took everyone 17 hours just to get here, driving through the slush. Well done brainiac.
And then there’s the whole «let’s do a random quiz in the middle of an event.» Newsflash, moron. Nobody likes your quizzes so GET OVER YOURSELF. To quote the legendary Alex K, «does every event really have to have a quiz?»:
No, Fox. It f***ing doesn’t. But every event host has to have at least a tiny tiny semblance of a clue. And you don’t. Get the net. Seriously. You’ve done the Unilocal thing. Time to move on, buddy. Why don’t you go play Farmville or something.
Oh, wait, that wasn’t even the worst part. Who hosts a freaking UYE in a place which has about 3 seats? Yeah. This guy did. So of course half of us had to stand for the whole meal. I guess he doesn’t like beef and pork, he prefers LAME.
And don’t get me started on the whole «WE’RE GONNA HAVE A SCAVENGER HUNT» as if that’s even a good thing, but just for the hell of it, I get myself all psyched up for a Scavenger Hunt, and then I GET there, and Fox is all… «OH WE’RE NOT HAVING A SCAVENGER HUNT. KTHXBYE.» Umm… yeah. Because that’s going to make people want to come to your events in future, d***wad.
Plus the dude’s face is just unbearable to look at.
But I have to say that out of the other people that came, there were some super duper good looking ones. I mean seriously it was hard to concentrate on the very amazing food. The most authentic, delicious Chinese food in the area, by the way. Most of the clients are Chinese and there’s a Chinese Karaōke bar next door, that’s how Chinese it is. Even this little baby kitten Starlight comes here, so it must be good. Give it a try, it belongs in NYC or San Francisco but it’s here in Buffalo and we’re very lucky to have it!
Anyway on the subject of the good looking people. I wanna tell you about my fave (omg so cute). He’s this guy with a beard and he’s from CANADA, and he has an accent and everything. Bad news though girls (and boys), is that he’s dating someone. And she was also at the event. How lucky can a girl get.
Oh wait. He was not at this event. He was at the McKenzie’s event. I’m getting confused (about all kinds of things). But I was wishing he was at this one. So much so that I guess I convinced myself that he was.
Oh oh oh and one more thing.
Fox f***ing sucks.

It was quiet a journey to get to my first UYE meeting. It took me almost an hour to get there, which usually takes 20 minutes, and it was snowing a lot. The roads were slippery and made the drive seemed challenging. On the bright side, I was glad I had to meet new friends and had the most authentic Chinese food in Buffalo.
Thank’s to Fox for organizing the event. It was well worth the journey. The foods were awesome, and the time spent was fun. Will come again to your future events (I hope with a better weather)

This one was a challenge, because of the weather, there were a lot of cancellations, but we still manged to round up 8 people.
A lot of fun was had! Some people had been here before, others had not, so those who had gave advice on what to order. Everyone was awesome and we all shared dishes among the table, which gave everyone a chance to try different things and perhaps get out of ones’ comfort zone.
Because of the weather, we opted not to have a scavenger hunt, but we had some fun trivia instead, and managed to trick Fox into asking more questions. A lot of laughing, noisy fun was had, and if you haven’t been to a Fox UYE, you have to come to the next one. They’re a blast!

The snow was heavy. The wind was blowing. Some roads were closed. Somewhere.
That didn’t stop a hearty nine Unilocalers from braving it out to Fox’s UYE for some delightful Chinese food.
This UYE had my favorite title of them all and I have to commend Fox for a number of reasons:
1) His tireless promotion of this hole in the wall Chinese joint with absolutely delicious and authentic food. Through his event, he introduced many people to the business for the very first time.
2) One of my closest friends ended up showing up at this event. Did I invite her? Nope. Fox did. Tireless promotion is a key theme here. I ended up having a great time catching up with her after not seeing her for probably over 3 months.
3) He has creative ways of keeping people entertained and had us play a round of trivia. I still think Katherine was on our team and we ended up winning, but I digress.
4) His hair and leather jacket.
That is all. Thanks again, Fox for an awesome night and for bringing me back to Peking Quick One after four years.
