I’m Chinese and I love it. I love the owners as they are now my buddies haha. I would recommend any of the traditional dishes, don’t go for any Americanized dish if you are to eat here, as you will be missing out.

Place to come for Chinese food. They use pretty much the same sauce for everything but it’s some good sauce. I’m from NYC and was horrified there wasn’t a lot of Chinese food here. Thank god for Pekin quick one!

Located not too far from the University at Buffalo, Quick One offers authentic family-style Chinese food. Coming in here with a group of friends, you’ll most definitely leave here satisfied. What to get here: Most definitely get the Poached Spicy Fishes or Pork. Both options are great. It comes in a giant bowl filled to the brim with a spicy broth that will leave your mouth numb and salivating. The Double Cooked Pork is spicy and crispy. The String Beans are flavorful as well. The Salt and Pepper Shrimp are fried to perfection. They are so crispy the shrimp can be eaten whole. You can’t go wrong with any of these options. Definitely come hungry and with a bunch of people! This is the best place in the area for a family style meal.

I’ve been here couple of times already and their foods are really good and the tastes are very consistent. Ever since my friend brought me to this restaurant, it has been my favourite Chinese restaurant in Buffalo. Although they don’t have a huge variety of food compare to other Chinese restaurant, their food quality/flavour/taste are definitely one of the best.(The most important is that they are not pricy, you pay for what you really pay for and their foods definitely worth more than what they charge for.

Good price for authentic homestyle Chinese food. I recommend spicy poached fish and double cooked pork if you like spicy food. Beef and onions are good as well. The zucchini and shrimp dish is a good complimentary dish. Mapo tofu and spicy chopped chicken legs were personally disappointing for me. I’ve been coming here for 4 years now and their food is pretty consistent. Highly recommend.

Once I stumbled upon this place, I haven’t been anywhere else for Chinese food in Buffalo. Try things from the specialty menu, you won’t regret it

I wished I’d know about this place earlier. I would like to echo others and say that yes, you should order things off the ‘Chinese’ menu, but… you should also order your favorites off the American-Chinese menu because they do these better than your average Chinese restaurant. The beef and broccoli is great for instance. On the Chinese menu most soups come in a large portion easily shared by 2 – 4 people. Wonton soup was really good as was hot and sour. The seaweed egg drop was good too but had a light vegetarian flavor. Pork with green onion and pork with garlic sauce are very good. The pork with green onion comes with some confusing rice papers to wrap bites of it in. The orange beef is fabulous, not as sweet as what you have had at other restaurants and full of some serious orange flavor due to all the orange zest pieces it contains. The onion beef is also very good. The dumplings are great and come in a huge portion. They also take the longest to cook. So if you are ordering multiple things your other food will come first, keep that in mind, because 9 – 12 dumplings will be arriving later. :D Also get a vegetable, they often have things that are up on the specials board in addition to favorites like the stir fried green beans, and the shredded potato dishes you can see in some photos. The shredded potatoes are not cooked like Americans cook potatoes, they are still crunchy, but they were very good too. We had a stir fried cabbage dish off the specials menu one day and another I just asked if they had baby bok choi or Chinese broccoli with garlic and they whipped up some garlicky stir fried baby bok choi for us. ;) This is great place to eat with friends. The Chinese menu comes family style and everyone receives a bowl of rice and you can share easily, sampling various dishes you ordered for the table. Service is quick. The tables and décor aren’t fancy, but the food is wonderful. If you go on Friday around dinner the restaurant is likely to be packed with Chinese students. Saturday is a quieter time.

Oh the hype. Everyone and their Mother has recommended this Chinese joint to me. I am picky about Chinese food because I maintain a low to no salt diet so I usually order steamed food whenever eating Chinese. Anyways, this place is located in a run down strip plaza and very easy to miss if you aren’t specifically looking for it. I pulled up and seriously questioned whether I wanted to venture inside because of how run down it looked and the inside wasn’t much better. They are in need of a serious renovation, the floors needed replacing, there were no towels in the bathroom, and the door handle was made out of duct tape. The place felt dirty and the place you’re eating at should never feel like that. We were told to order from the Home Style menu, but I just wanted a plate of steamed chicken and vegetables. When I asked for this, there was confusion and the man assisting us had to go in the back to see if this was possible. He came back and said he could do chicken and vegetables without the sauce, perfect. We also ordered wonton soup, steamed pork dumplings with cabbage and a chicken dish with vegetables and peanuts. My dish was underwhelming with hardly any chicken. The vegetables consisted of sliced celery stalks and I was really looking for broccoli, snow peas, carrots, onions, but there was hardly any of that. The steamed dumplings were very delicious and there were a lot of them in an order. The wonton soup wasn’t anything special, standard wonton soup. I really enjoyed the chicken with vegetables and peanuts, lots of flavor and a lot of heat. I didn’t try the fried egg rolls but apparently they were very good. We decided to sit at a table near the door which was a mistake because every time it opened we got a huge gust of wind, our fault for choosing that seat. The gentleman who assisted us behind the counter brought the food out as it was ready so it was piping hot and we really appreciated that. I am torn between a 3 and 4 start review. It didn’t wow me and really didn’t give me much of a reason to hurry back, however, it is WILDLY affordable, all of that food cost us $ 24, can’t beat that.

Always a worry when you see both 5-star raving reviews and then a number of terrible reviews. But we decided to jump in and find out for ourselves and glad we did. There were five of us. We each ordered two different dishes from the HomeStyle menu and shared. Not sure what crawled up the butts of those who gave bad reviews here but far as we were concerned everything was wonderful. Not a bad dish in the bunch. Standouts were the crispy fish with jalapenos, the hot and spicy noddles and the hot and sour shredded potatoes. Place was empty when we came in around 4pm-ish but around 5ish it became wall to wall Asian students and more than a few non-Asians as well. Note — don’t come for the ambiance, there isn’t any. Come for amazing food — there’s loads of that. Fast service. Generous portions.

One of the best and most authentic Chinese restaurants in Buffalo. There is a Chinese menu and an American-Chinese menu. Don’t go for the American-Chinese menu(unless you’re really craving it). Their Chinese menu is bomb diggity. A couple of my favorites is : Spicy Poached Fish(or any other meat), double cooked pork, string beans, spicy cold tripe. Well, I’m sure all or at least most of their other stuff is great too. Just order stuff and try it all! This especially goes out to all the white people out there reading this, don’t be afraid, just try it and see. I see too many white people just order from the Chinese American menu here and man, y’all are missing out. It’s good, it’s authentic, it’s super cheap. I love this place. Oh, and don’t forget the yummy, self-service free tea as well!

Ordered the double cooked pork and fish with jalapeños. Both orders left me speechless, especially the fish. The portions were huge and were so flavorful. I’ve ordered fish in numerous Chinese places before but this has to be my favorite. The peppers were cut vertically into thin strips so you’re able to eat it together with the fish with every bite. The fish was soft and barely had any batter, which I appreciate. The double cooked pork was just drowning in fat but I don’t mind. I like putting that over my rice. Definitely will be my go to place.

Best Chinese that I’ve had in the city. Hands down. I’ve been here more times than any other restaurant in WNY. Hidden in a dilapidated strip mall(although a Donut Kraze just opened next door) and far from fancy, the food will more than make up for the experience. They have two menus. One is a red/white/green folding menu that looks like your typical Chinese take-out menu — DON’T order from this! Their«American Chinese» on this menu(e.g., General Tso, Orange Chicken, etc) is very average. The other menu(8.5×11 white sheet) has more authentic dishes that are far superior(and only slightly more expensive). My favorites are the string beans(often sold out, sadly) and the crispy jalapeño fish(not on either menu, but they’ve had it every time that I’ve asked). Stop in and enjoy!

This is the best Chinese food in the Buffalo area. Kung Pao chicken is made with dark meat(as it should be) and the sauce has just the right amount of spice. The hot and sour soup is the best I’ve ever had, very spicy with a generous amount of tofu. I’ve tried almost every item on the menu, and Peking Quick One consistently delivers amazing food. I somehow forgot to mention the traditional menu. This is what you need to order off of if you’re looking for an authentic experience.

I used to come to Quick one all the time for the past few 4 years. Subtle changes have made me come less and less until I found a suitable substitute. In its glory days, their dumplings were delicious– both steamed and fried. Being Cantonese, I prefer the my dumplings to have thin wrappings, where it is just strong enough to hold the inside, and then the filling has to be good. Over time, I would say, the skin got thicker and the filling was were filler items than protein. As for the dishes, they were tasty but again, through time, and changes in cooks, it just wasn’t as good anymore. It’s not bad, and would still be more authentic than PF Changs, but I find there are better options elsewhere. But for the price and location, it’s ok.

Simply amazing. The food off the authentic Chinese menu is unmatchable. I’ve never ordered from the Chinese-American menu(come on, did you really didn’t think that sweet and sour chicken or general tso’s chicken is traditional?) so I can’t speak on behalf of that. Today I ordered the poached spicy fishes and the seaweed egg drop soup. Both were fantastic and huge portions! I demoted a star because the dining area could be better, the window was cracked and letting in rain water. However, this is the second time I’ve eaten in and was I the only white lady there… good sign. Also, they unfortunately do not deliver, but it’s worth the drive to pick up!

This is the best place to go to for some authentic, affordable Chinese food. The lunch specials are EXTREMELY affordable and it’s a great place for family style dinners. Everything here is pretty good but my favorite dishes from here are Shanghai bokchoy, seaweed and egg drop soup, the sweet and sour pork ribs, and the beef with celery!

Wow. So I thought that, after all these years, I was resigned to mediocre Chinese food. I’d heard that there was no such thing in Buffalo, and where I lived previously(Northern VA) it was ok but not awesome. I went as part of a group last night for Fox’s UYE. There were 8 of us, and we managed to all cram ourselves into one table. This place is run down, shabby, hole in the wall in a strip mall in Tonawanda, but don’t let the location fool you, this really is excellent Chinese food. They offer an «American» Chinese menu(with pretty familiar items ranging from Broccoli Beef to Kung Pao Chicken and so on) and a Chinese language menu(with English translation on the back) with more authentic dishes. There’s also a specials board. I decided to order one thing off the American menu and one thing off the specials board. So, Broccoli Beef. this is something in Lee’s comfort zone, so I figured I’d try it to make sure it was something he might like, so we could perhaps go here together in the future. It was really good, with a nice strong oyster sauce and soy flavor. The beef was cooked well and the broccoli was perfect, bright green and crunchy. I also ordered off of the specials menu crispy fish with jalapeño. This was a little bit pricier than some of the standard dishes at $ 10. but it was totally worth it. I’m not totally sure what the sauce was, but it was spicy but not too spicy, with a nice savory flavor. I had to resist the urge to lick my plate. I also tried dishes that other people ordered: Onion Beef, which had a nice caramelization on the onions, braised pork in hot sauce which had a great flavor(and was more than enough for 8 people to share) Spicy Eggplant, A pork and potato dish that was really delicious, Orange Beef and Spicy Chicken, that had celery and bamboo shoots. Service was quick, and although they accidentally brought out a different dish instead of the crispy fish(They charged me for crispy fish but brought out jalapeño pork by accident,) this was pretty quickly corrected. They offer free tea and water, and have a cooler case of sodas to drink. I am definitely going to be back.

The first time I came to this restaurant was about a couple years a go. I remembered the food was really good with a very reasonable price. This time, I came for one of the Unilocal events and couldn’t wait to try some new food and to see if the quality stays the same. The restaurant is located in a small plaza in between a bar and a deli. It is small but enough to sit 9 of us. As the night went by, the restaurant got busy with people coming in and out whether to sit in or to pick up food for take out. I ordered Pork Stew in Brown Sauce which was amazingly delicious and hearty. The pork was cut up into bite size pieces and cooked with small chunk of potatoes. The pork was mixed in smoky and sweet brown sauce that melt in your mouth. The meal came with a bowl of steam rice. It was a perfect dinner for a cold and snowy evening. I also got to try a little bit of everything that the fellow Unilocalers ordered. I tried Fox’s favorite Poached spicy pork which was tasteful and saltily good, Spicy eggplant, Orange Beef(it was to die for), Kung Pao chicken(my all time favorite), and the Beef with onion. My favorite was Katherine’s Crispy Fish with Jalapeño which was cut up in small fillet, seasoned with salt and pepper. This restaurant deserves two thumbs up. I would even give three thumbs up if I had 3 thumbs, and that would be scary. The food reminded me of home, my mom’s home cooking. Moreover, I was satisfied with the authenticity and the quality of the food. I will definitely come back for more.
