Horizons makes a darn tasty burger that is worth every penny. I like the Buddy Burger which has shredded cheddar cheese on it. Other items on the menu are a bit pricy for a quick serve though. Small fries– 3 bucks. Large iced tea– 3 bucks. It makes it hard to want to order anything but a burger and grab a drink from the gas station next door.

I remember coming here as a kid, and in my mind, this place was amazing. Finally went back, some 20 years later and, while it was good, it didn’t live up to what I remembered. Like most things I suppose. Good burger, but the fries are only okay. That’s huge in my opinion. It’s the burger/fry combo that can take a burger place over the top.(In & Out Burger) The onion rings were outstanding and other sandwiches, like the ham n’ cheese, strengthen the menu. Good place for a quick lunch.

This is a nice hamburger joint. I don’t think it’s the best burger I have ever had, but it’s a good go to spot for a burger that’s reasonably priced.

Horizon’s Hamburger Palace is a great burger joint. This is my go to for a great traditional burger The patty is seasoned with ground black pepper the way a patty should be. I would also suggest bacon and jalapenos!

The acronym KISS is very appropriate to this place. Keep it simple stupid.(Never figured out why the stupid was in there) Horizon’s Hamburger Palace is a simple burger restaurant and grill, but the simplicity is what makes this place. Living in Topeka for three years, I was introduced to Horizons by some law school buddies. It quickly became the standard go-to joint. Horizons serves burgers, fries, onion rings, and other grilled foods. These hamburgers taste just like a home-made fresh burger, thick and juicy, with just enough flavor to make it possible to skip the condiments. Standard on these burgers is lettuce, mustard and onion, but you can get more. Burgers come in different sizes based on the number and weight of the patties. The 1⁄6 pound horizon or 1⁄3 pound sunrise, which can be doubled… or dare I say it… TRIPLED!!! You might not survive a triple sunrise, but it makes life worth living. The onion rings in the place are awesome, heavy batter without being too thick. A specialty of Horizon’s is the cheese balls. Little bits of golden fried deliciousness. Think of a mozzarella stick, but cheddar. Once located on 21st by Washburn University, it can be now found out on Seward Ave. What once was a short walk across the street is now more of a special trip, but always worth the effort. I haven’t had one of these burgers in over a year and I think I’ve gone through withdrawals!
