I visited during a student exhibit and on the final day of an exhibit by Montana artist Theodore Waddell — «Hallowed Absurdities». he uses dead animal carcasses, and creates weapon type instruments or transforms weapons with other medium; odd and unsettling and sometimes ironic, so I guess he did his job, but not my most memorable exhibit. The rest of the collection was not that impressive or vast, but a small museum is better that no museum. I would definitely return on future visits to Topeka for rotating exhibits. Loved the Art-o-mat vending machine!

Small yet excellent museum. We visited during the Burtynsky: The Industrial Sublime exhibit and loved it. More galleries upstairs with a small yet brilliantly curated assortment of Art. Currently(August 2015) the exhibit on ageing and dying is a bit darker than most, and I wouldn’t recommend it for younger children. This wasn’t an issue at all for my party but I feel it may be worth mentioning. Unusually welcoming and chatty docents here, and a natural spring under the elevator shaft was an odd thing to hear! I plan to include this great museum in future trips to Topeka.

We visited the museum yesterday and it has a small but nice collection of landscapes & still lifes, plus a small exhibit of sketches. Admission is free, and the young man at the reception desk & the woman in the gift shop were very pleasant. However, don’t bother going out of your way to visit the museum.
