PT’s is a classic coffee shop. It features a very laid back environment. In addition to coffee products they also have breakfast and lunch items. I have met friends there time and time again, we’ve sat talking for hours because of how enjoyable the atmosphere is. The employees are nice and talented as well! It also includes outdoor seating options.

Coffee here can be great, a bit pricey and only pour overs. Food the same way, good-pricey. I have had issues with baristas being a bit rude a few times and very hipster-ish vibe(not normal in Topeka). However the right roast and pour over can be great.

I’m from a tiny town near Topeka but now live in Los Angeles(groan). Every time I’m home, I make a point to stop in here to work and drink a comparatively inexpensive(and delicious) pourover. In more good news: the food here is also wonderful, and there is almost always plenty of space to tap away merrily on my oh-so-important laptop.

Love this place! Staff is super friendly. Coffee is well made. Food is yum. I often stop by PT’s on my way to campus in the morning when I’m dragging to add a little pizzazz to my morning. And the coffee scene is pretty lacking around washburn, so it’s a super convenient location!

This is perhaps the best café in Topeka. It is a visually appealing establishment offering a unique and tasty selection of food and drink with wonderful service. Truly a pleasurable experience that is difficult to find anywhere else in the area.

This ‘Flying Monkey’ is a welcoming, order at the counter, coffee shop with a nice lunch menu situated across from the Washburn College campus. Several beers are on tap as well as bottled/canned beers and craft sodas. There are no diet drinks other than coffee and unsweetened tea. But then, their motto is ‘Drink More Coffee’. The Ham & Chèvre is a great sandwich of tasty ham and creamy goat cheese on artesian toast. It officially has ‘Wow’ factor. The Flying Monkey Salad was a nice selection of fresh greens and veggies with croutons and half an egg. We really liked that it was unmixed so we could choose what each bite included — and whether and how much to dress it with the balsamic vinaigrette served on the side. Counter staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly and delivered the food to the table. It proved to be a nice place to happen upon(with Unilocal help).

Great sandwiches! Was hoping for a Sunday Bloody Mary but their bar is limited. It’s a nice little coffee bar.

I worked at PT’s in high school. I was never a good barista. I can admit that. But having worked at PT’s I know their commitment to coffee, and it shows through in their products. If you look up PT’s coffee awards, they won Roaster of the year in 2009, won 5th for«best coffee roaster» for thrillist, good food awards finalist in 2013. I guess what I am saying is PT’s coffee is not one of the best in the region. It’s amongst the best in the NATION. When I worked at PT’s it was on 29th and it’s still there but under a different name. True enough, that shop was were this company started roasting in the basement. That and the other shop that used to be at 10th and Gage were ran like regular coffee shops. At one point both of these shops were sold and there was no storefront PT’s. Which brings us to this little shop. It’s not exactly a coffee shop per-se. It’s more like a laboratory that produces the retail realization of a persnickety roasting tendencies. In other words this is the test bed that focuses heavily on quality and seems to care little about heavy production. Everything just tastes better here. The location kind of sucks, as it’s near nowhere I am going. You park in an apartment complex and feel like you’re going into an apartment, not a business. But it’s a place to go for good coffee.

Fantastic location, particularly if you’re a college student. It’s nice to have a coffee shop in your own backyard! Always friendly, prompt service here and it seems like they’re rounding out both the food and drink menu. My only complaint is it’s a little pricey. Overall though, great atmosphere and cool industrial style vibe to the space.

I wasn’t expecting a shop like this when I came through Kansas. The cortado was VERYGOOD and I had breakfast here too. It was very good. The service was what I expected in the mid-west(extremely kind) and the atmosphere was very chill. I even had a discussion with the locals on a variety of topics. This is exactly what a coffee shop should be! The owner seemed like a cool dude too and he definitely has a great first name!

A great find for great coffee. I was traveling through Topeka and stopped by and was blown away by there selection of healthy foods. Try the screamed eggs in a bowl for a tasty option on an old standard. It looked like a work of art. I would post a photo but forgot to in my rust to inhale it. The is gourmet coffee and top notch, I know because I consume way to much. The service is friendly and professional. Your treated like a regular from the first meeting. The pricing is fair for the quality. Expect a slight wait as its a popular place.

I love this place. They know the difference between a real Flat White(Starbucks: what you’re serving is a «latte») and a Cortado, and do both well. Add the awesome food and the presence of my favorite gin(Uncle Val’s Botanical) alongside single malt scotch… I’m in heaven. Service is friendly and the bathroom is well appointed and clean. I hear the ice cream is fantastic, too, but I haven’t partaken yet.

Great local coffee roasters that have been around for years. Finally made it to the new location when back visiting earlier this year. Love getting my almond milk latte here! Great food too! They also have another location in KC Crossroads and like to visit here often. Good to see Topeka finally getting trendy. Support local.

Great coffee and relaxing atmosphere. Good place to come and chill. Food is a little expensive but pretty tasty. My favorites are Americano and cold brew coffee. The grilled cheese sandwich is good. And the pita bread and hummus. Prefer this place to Starbucks. Staff is super cool and friendly

The actual employees are cool and courteous. But whoever calls the shots around here lacks common sense. There are a handful of things you need to make certain are up to par at a coffee shop or similar establishment; the food and beverages, the atmosphere including the air quality, and good wifi is essential for café’s. 2⁄3 things I mentioned are sub-par. I complained about the air quality months ago. They lied that they would do something about it. I came in today for a latte, and I walk into a bitter, thick cloud of smoke from burnt food. It is like this 100% of the time. Do not go there if you intend to smell good afterwards. They have the internet set up so that you have to click around until their«guest» sign in page finally shows up 5 minutes later. Ok, now you can get to doing your schoolwork or business right? Wrong. The internet will sit around 2⁄5 bars and even sign you off every 5 – 10 minutes.

There’s really very little to say about this PT’s. I’d been hearing great things about it from a fellow Unilocal pal who is a huge coffee nerd(as am I). It is: 1) Hands down the finest designed coffee shop in the region in terms of design, layout, customer comfort and vibe. Lots of great overstuffed chairs, plenty of electrical outlets for wireless suckers like me and good tables for reading the paper, a book or riding the laptop. I want to stay here all day. 2) Spectacular coffee pours. Requested a Cortado made with their signature Flying Monkey espresso beans. Pure bliss in a cup, beautifully poured, not a hint of bitterness. Candy. Spectacular. Followed up with a Bolivan pour-over that was perfectly brewed. A truly great cup of joe. 3) Arrived hungry as I skipped breakfast. Both the ham & Brie sandwich and the Flying Monkey BLT were flavor bombs designed to satisfy, and did they! Those buttered and grilled breads they’re serving them on make a mess, but what a delightful mess. Area coffee/espresso shops would be wise to drop by and see what they’ve built here. Too bad there isn’t something this nice in KC or Lawrence. I rarely get to Topeka. Dare I say if you’d like to chase a great cup of coffee, a latte or espresso this would be worth the trip. NOTE to PT’s management: whatever the lady barista with the black framed glasses is being paid, it’s not enough. She’s a coffee goddess and a delightful person.

I don’t know a lot about Topeka Kansas but I do know this: this is the best coffee shop/lunch place in town. There, I said it. As little as I know about the area, I’m more or less completely positive that I am right about this. That’s because it would be the best coffee shop in town JUSTABOUTANYWHERE. I’m cosmopolitain. And worldly. And I know these things. Fantastic espresso coffees. Fantastic food. Great ambiance and décor. What did I eat? Some magical chicken salad sandwich. Made with real magic. It wasn’t very big, except in excellentness. This other time, I ate an egg wrapped in a slice of bacon($ 1.50 and all the breakfast a man needs). I’ve also had the frittata, a quiche, and a spinach salad hummus creation. All wowzer. What was my coffee of choice? A latte with skim milk and it was pretty damn good. Damn good. The attitude of the folks is helpful and serious(when it comes to coffee, anyway). Hell, even the dishes and presentation were spot on. So…if you are in Topeka, be here. Or be very wrong. That’s all I have to say about that.
