This is a cool little speciality bookstore nestled in downtown Topeka. They specialize in antique and rare books with a large selection on Topeka and Kansas history and culture. The space is organized and has a wide variety of topics. They also have local art and photography for sale as well as antique pieces. I especially like how they’ve branched out a little to feature book themed products — candles, bookmarks, clocks and t-shirts. The hours can be a little wonky and there have been a few times I’ve tried to stop in and they’ve been out buying books, etc. The owners are very friendly and supportive of local businesses especially downtown and I appreciate how they’re fostering a sense of community for the downtown area.

All I can say is, if you love old books and ephemera, come here! I don’t live nearby but we get an itch sometimes to drive all the way for a book fix. Great sections, helpful staff, and those maps… my spouse loves vintage maps. I only wish we had a spot to display them, but anyone into maps and old postcards NEEDS to browse here. One of the best things in the city.

Treasures abound in this tidy, well organized shop. I love the old maps and the focus on local history. The best part of the store is striking up a conversation with Brandon. I learn something new every time I visit.

Brandon really goes the extra mile to locate and order books. Special Author events are also a plus.

Lovely vintage bookstore. Well organized shelves, friendly staff. Also has maps, stamps, postcards, comic books, etc. Wish I had discovered them sooner.

Great local bookstore that has more than just books. They also have a fine collection of coins, historic maps, Brandon Rison takes time to visit with customers. The Rison’s have a great business nestled in the heart of the city.
