I was expecting a deli. What I found was the bastard son of Quiznos. Not sure if the father was Pizza Hut or Arby’s. It’s unclear. For all my disappointment(I thought that giant«O» in the name meant I would find a bagel, some cole slaw, a pickle…), the food isn’t all that bad. The child enjoyed his ham and cheese sandwich a great deal and my flatbread was well made with fresh ingredients. If the bread they bake isn’t a delight at least it’s freshly made. If I would have read the other reviews I might have ordered a salad. All in all this might qualify as a decent option for Topeka lunching… that doesn’t make it any better or worse, but something to keep in mind.

One of my favorites from the Washburn days is still around. Love, love, love this place. Awesome sandwich. Amazing taste. Great value. Everyone is always friendly at the Gage and Topeka Blvd locations.

I’m not a huge fan of the bread on their sandwiches, but the Reuben was still pretty tasty. The Avocado Cobb Salad is my regular order. The salads are big and full of toppings. You also get a lot of cheesy bread with the salads, which helps fill me up if the salad isn’t getting the job done. Service is pretty fast, but certainly no Jimmy Johns. There is lots of seating and some seating near the windows on the 3rd floor.

I had my first experience with Schlotzskys today and I would have to say I’m a fan. They have a wide variety of sandwiches on their menu and are well priced. I opted for the pick 2 for $ 6.99 and it was a perfectly sized lunch portion and not to mention delicious. The staff was very friendly and they were able to get the orders out pretty quick despite it being the lunch rush. Since it is right across from my new office I will be returning.

Ah, good old Schlotzskys! Home of some of the best chips on the planet and the special sauce that makes the Original original, this particular Schlotzskys is a haven of decent food in the barren wasteland that is downtown Topeka eateries. Quality sandwiches for the meat lover, but also good fresh veggies for the herbivore, this place is staffed with a friendly and quick group of folks. The owner can almost always be found behind the counter taking orders. Become a regular, get a 10−20% discount! Only gripe is they’re only open 10 – 3, but I view that as an unfortunate economic reality of downtown Topeka. The streets are simply a ghost town anytime after 2, which would make it very hard for any non-destination restaurant to stay open. A downtown Topeka lunch staple!
