I found this motel to be quite clean and comfortable. The staff(Elijah I think, night shift) was very friendly and helpful. There was a lot of noise throughout the hallways and such but not late into the night. The breakfast could use an update. Im not sure what was going on but we were at the breakfast area at 6:15 and there didnt seem to be much set out. Perhaps the young man that took over for the day shift was busy but we waited about 15 min for an attendant and did not see one. We simply ate breakfast elsewhere.

Checked in and the desk clerk had us on the 3rd floor in a smoking room, we had reserved smoking. My friend driving from MO is older with bad knees. After a few minutes she was able to put us in a first floor room :) The room had been closed(typical) and damp. So I turned on the AC and went to get my bearings and run errands unloading at the Expocenter. No problem upon return. We had two dogs with us for the AKC shows in town and had no problem. Returning from the show on Sunday in the rain… Animal control got a call from someone describing the van, yes, there was one unhappy howling dog. We spoke to animal control and there was no issue, just a prick who called in. The dogs were quiet until one was left alone in the 73*F breezy day that had intermittent 5 minutes of rain or sunshine… There was a person in the room 4′ away from the van. Sorry, Quiet hours are typically 11pm-6am so, screw you complainer who did not go through the front desk and called animal control directly. I’ve been traveling with dogs for 40 years. The staff was more than pleasant and I spoke in depth with a few, including the night guy. Typical breakfast. The people were great and the location rocked.

Everywhere I would normally call for this weekend was booked. That isn’t saying much in Topeka, but I was kind of at a loss when I went on and Unilocal to search for a Last Resort. I was pleasantly surprised when I called Super 8 and talked to Sandra. What I got was four very reasonably priced rooms for a high school tournament, along with a great attitude, an exception to their«we don’t take checks» policy, and promise of a great breakfast! I expediently informed my coach colleagues within my district, and they booked, too. When we checked in, my busload of teens attempted to follow me into the tiny lobby. Sandra herself and a nice man did NOT freak out when three schools from my district who also managed to book rooms checked in. They acted genuinely happy to have our business, and their communication skills were Numero Uno with a bunch of people there for communication activities! Rooms were really much nicer than expected! Décor is contemporary, everything is spotless, and amenties include hairdryer, microwave, minifridge, safe, coffemaker, flatscreen tv with great cable, and a powerful shower head. Toiletries include soap and shampoo only, so my hair was looking wild the next day, and good thing I brought my own lotion. The bedding is whack. While it looks great, and the actual linens are decent, beds have two flimsy pillows, a sheet, and a weird coverlet with the thickness and texture of my granny’s tablecloth. It was freezing, and while I eventually located the blanket in the chest of drawers, I couldn’t help but pity the pretend sucker in the second bed, as there was only one blanket. Be informed. Well, breakfast had plenty of options with biscuits and gravy, fruit, rolls, cereal, coffee, juice, etc. Checkout was simple and pleasant. Not many locations work well and positively with large high school groups, so be sure, we will try to come here again next year. If you are traveling for pleasure, or if you are alone, look for something else, but this place is perfect for groups on a budget!

The place is clean and walking distance from good food. But the service sucks. When I got into my room the remote control batteries were dead. I went downstairs to get some new ones but they didn’t have any. The nice lady at the desk said he would send the maintenance guy up. Over an hour past and I went to bed without any TV. Well, I sleep naked on top of the sheets. Next think I know, the lights turn on and the maintenance is walking into my room trying to deliver batteries! And he’s got someone with him!!! Personnel walking into your room while you’re naked after you go to bed is not my idea of a good nights sleep. I’m going to write Super 8 about this and try to get my money back.
