Delicious! We ordered 10 roast beef sandwiches to go last week. Alex’s is always a highlight of our summer trip«back east.»

Best sub/sandwich place in town! Much better environment(cleaner and people are much nicer) than THOP. Only downfall is they are closed on Sunday’s.

ALL the food at Alex’s is fresh & delicious. Their crabmeat salad can’t be beat. Their calzones are out of this world. Their pizza is amazing. You get where I’m going with this, right? Their service is prompt and friendly & prices are very reasonable.

I needed dinner before going out on the Ipswich River with the Audubon folks for an evening canoe trip. Alex’s filled the bill. My roast beef sandwich was huge, beef rare, sauce OK, sesame roll very fresh. I also had a very generous cup of chicken rice lemon soup for $ 3.50. When I ordered it, one of the female cooks winked at me and said, Its great, she(the owner) just made it this morning. I couldn’t dispute it, very nice Greek staple soup. I rarely am up in this part of the north shore, so may not get back to Alex’s, but will keep it in mind if/when I do return and am hungry.

I am disappointed. Around here it is difficult to find a good sandwich shop and I have been enjoying Alex’s for their decent quality food. But tonight I got the big beef and mixed in with the nice red beef was a nasty brown beef. Gross. Hey Alex, you think i would not notice. Mixing in your old product with the new and passing it to the customer is pretty lame. I may not come back, ever. To bad i had to review it under these circumstances. I have had a couple of good sandwiches here. i do like the shoe string fries! I

Twice, my food(a piece of Baklava and something resembling a cookie) had green mold. Both times, two different orders at two different times. If they can’t keep the mold out of the Baklava(which has honey in it, an all natural bacteria killer) then I don’t have much hope for the rest of their sanitation methods.

I have never had a bad experience at Alex’s! My family orders from them once a week or two and the food is always great. They always say it will take 15 minutes but I swear I get there and 10 and it’s hot and ready to go. Pizza is probably an 8⁄10 but the roast beef is a 10. The staff is pretty friendly, although when it’s busy they can get a bit crabby. Overall great food is great and that’s why it’s getting 5 stars

1÷13÷2014 Probably not going to order that much from here. Ordered steak tips and told them a few times med rare & the receipt said med & when I opened they were well down… Really!!! Plus getting a bit pricey! 5÷13÷2013 We’ve been ordering from here for sometime now and lately not sure whats going on. An order came wrong a few weeks ago, we called they fixed, ordered again today and came wrong didnt even bother. 3÷20÷2013 love the chicken finger sub & the ceasar salad!!!

like all the other greek pizza places around here. It sucked! I ordered a calzone with extra spinach and sausage. They don’t understand extra. The sausages are those same rabbit crap shaped sausage balls that every single pizza place up here uses. The crust, if you want to call it that, taste like cardboard. Where can you get real italian pizza up here???

This place has been a real hit or miss. First off their fish sandwich is AWESOME love it. Pasta… not so much. Also i ordered the fish and chips… let me add again how wonderful the fish is but they give you this HUGE to-go box of fries and you have to fish around(no pun intended) to find the fish in the sea of fries. Didn’t mean for that to sound as funny as it came out haha. They give you hardly any fish. Hadn’t tried the pizza or the roast beef yet but living down the street and not having a horrible experience im sure ill be back.

Meh. Utterly unremarkable. Clean. Maybe too clean, as the persistent smell of cleaning solution hurt my enjoyment of my meal. Chicken parm uses good chicken. Sauce thin and garlicky.

i want to like Alex’s…I really do. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and their menu selection is vast. However, my family always jokes about how they take every item and run it through a taste extractor before they serve you… put another way… the food can be pretty bland in taste… not bad mind you but not«tasty». My last trip to Alex’s has to be my last… the woman in back doing the pizza’s picked a piece of trash off the floor and put it in the trash bin… then pushed the trash down so she would have more room in the trash bin… then, sadly turned around and began to make someone’s pizza without washing her hands… check please… sorry, I know no one would ever eat out if we knew everything that goes on in a commercial kitchen but once I’ve seen it I can’t get past it. Sorry Alex’s…

They work their tails off to get it right. Roast beef with sauce is a standard hit. I also have the Chicken Kabob Salad with Feta. comes with dressing on the side, full pita and is a large portion. It is a great alternative to «fast food» crap. Caution ! make sure you grab napkins, for some reason they never put them in the bag with take out.

Their grilled cheese sandwich is nothing special: waxy American cheese on greasy, soggy bread. They DO have a gigantic menu, though, and there are probably lots better things to try, but a simple grilled cheese sandwich should be an easy thing to make perfect.

I used to skip straight past Topsfield Center, head up rt. 97 and eat in North Beverly, but the opening of Alex’s has finally given me a reason to eat a bit closer to home. Speaking about only the Roast Beef here, as I haven’t had much else on the menu yet — Alex’s is legit. The portions are huge, the sauce is good, and the roll, it ain’t bad either. An added bonus was the fact that they carry Moxie, aka ‘the soda that only your grandmother could love’ as well as a bunch of other hard-to-find flavors.

MUCH better than T-HOP. Great roast beef, pizzas, subs, french fries(so much better than t-hop)!! Reasonable prices. I went there everyday for lunch during the summer and they knew my name and order by the end– great service! =)

Darn good calzones and a good roast beef sandwich. I have yet to try their pizza, so I can only give it a 4 out of 5. I still enjoy good old Topsfield house of pizza… but it’s nice to have competition that hopefully doesn’t destroy the other. If you’re in the area, this place is good.

Alex’s just opened on the Main drag in Topsfield, that 2.5 blocks of splendor that turns into a wasteland at 5:00pm(cue the tumbleweed and whistling wind).. .but wait.. .Alex’s is open until 9 weekdays and 10 on Saturday! Closed Sunday. Could this be the beginning of night life in Topsfield? Well.. .probably not. But at least it’s somewhere to go for a quick meal or snack in the evening. Alex’s is a sub shop. I’m not sure why they called it roast beef — I’m sure they have roast beef.. .but it has one of those subshop menus with the little plastic letters that has EVERYTHING in the world on it. They could have called it Alex’s Kebab, Alex’s subs, Alex’s Pizza.. .and been just as correct. Pizza, pasta, subs of all kinds, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken fingers, fries, sides of anything you could possibly imagine(I think I might have seen«side of olive pits 2.00».. .no, just a hallucination. .), avgolemono soup.. .you get the idea. I had the chicken kebab salad. Totally standard, and fine — Also at my table — spaghetti with marinara. HUGE portion. Small(12″) hawaiian pizza. AND.. a hot dog, the only size they had, which was humongous. Probably 3X the size of a standard dog. Everyone was happy. They have a TV in one corner playing sports stuff. It was all good, and cheap. Next time I’ll actually try the roast beef.
