Went back after a long hiatus. Disappointed. This used to be a favorite! Staff, as usual, was awesome but the food was not so great which is surprising. Shrimp cocktail was overcooked and rubbery, rice was dry, the only things cooked OK were the scallops and asparagus most likely because you can’t cook them ahead of time. My assumption, its Monday and everything is leftover from the weekend… but that doesn’t excuse overcooked shrimp. Yeah, for one of my former favorites its suffering the I’ll effects of success maybe? My dining companion was disappointed too and was unimpressed especially for the price. Disappointing.

This is our go-to-place on most Friday’s. Great food. Awesome burger, salads, ravioli, beer, etc. can get busy but goes fairly quickly. Live the staff too. Fun place to eat with friends. Good value for the money too.

The wedge salad is truly the speciality — bacon and a nice thick dressing. Nice little restaurant not bad food and specials. The calamari was not well seasoned and bland. The Osso bucco wasn’t bad, it was really just a very large pork rib, this is not the lamb shank that I am used to ordering. The pork was very tender and baked in a nice tomato sauce. The martinis were water down and had crushed ice floating in it. :(the desert was good. It was a neutral experience.

Food was not something to write home about but the prices are reasonable and turnaround time from ordering to food being ready for pick-up is pretty good — about 25 – 30 minutes.

Been here before so expecting good things. But had a 45 minute wait for a table. Drinks served fairly quickly. Then ordered a few gourmet flat bread pizzas. Waitress said they were backlogged on the pizzas and it would take over 45 minutes for 2 pizzas. We decided to order entrees instead as we were assured it would be out quicker. As soon as we ordered the fire alarm went off. It screeched for 20 minutes. We could not bear it and no one could figure out how to shut it off. It was an excruciating 20 minutes. Needless to say 50 minutes later the meals arrived. We wish we had gone with the pizzas. Eggplant came out with ice cold pasta. Husbands veal parm was good but mothers veal francaise they forgot the sauce. Mother went off on waitress which I did feel bad as it was not her fault. Management offered us free dessert which we declined as we had no intention of staying there any longer. But were shocked when the bill came and there have been no accommodations for the fire alarm or the two errors on the meals. Needless to say I don’t feel the urge to rush back. One out of three meals just isn’t a good enough number to get me back.

Just got home after enjoying a perfect meal here with my sister. She had the eggplant rollatini which she raved about. I had the butternut squash ravioli with a butter and walnut sauce. Perfect! My Bombay Sapphire martini was right on the mark. Topped it off with an Expresso, and our wonderful server Victoria suggested the apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream. Delicious! Thanks Victoria! You are a real pro. We’ll be back!

We work nearby and there are not a lot of choices in the area for lunch. We keep going back and every time we do, I ask myself why? The takeout salads are tiny and so expensive! You don’t even get a piece of bread with them. Sometimes they are delicious but sometimes they are so bad. Many times I have had cores of the lettuce or cabbage, completely inedible. A couple of tomatoes on top. They always forget to include my chicken which I pay an additional $ 2 for and its like a tiny sliver. I called so many times and the last time they said they would credit me my $ 2 for the chicken but never did. I always go on my lunch break and they tell me to come back but by the time I’ve driven there and back my lunch break is over. They don’t even includes a fork or a napkin in the lunch order. You have to remember to grab it yourself.

This restaurant needs to be called into the Board of Health!!! My husband and I were sitting at our table, waiting for our meal, in what seemed like Grand Central Station. It was complete chaos, and I don’t see any reason for wait staff to run, in a restaurant! Other than that our meals took :57 minutes to be brought to our table. As I sat there, I looked up at the«open ceiling» concept… ITWASDISGUSTING! How can they possibly be getting away with THAT! There was literally dust and whatever else hanging off the large vent tubes! Blowing around by the fans. I asked our waitress if the owner was working, or the manager. She told us that«they» were on vacation. Apparently they are married. She also told us that they go on a lot of vacations, 2 – 3 per month!!! MYSUGGESTION: STAYHOMEFROMVACATION, and CLEANYOURFILTHYRESTAURANT! Don’t ask your waitstaff be responsible for deep cleaning that restaurants require… It’s not their job, ITSYOURS! … Never Again

I’ve made my way back to Off the Vine several times since my initial review so it’s about time for an update! We have had a good sampling of the menu since our initial visit and have always left happy with the quality of the food here. My personal favorite is the kobe beef burger which is just so tasty! The salads here are great as well. Generally, they have the best beer selection in the area but it can be a little pricey, ranging from $ 8 to $ 9 for the good stuff. Definitely the best around and worth checking out and enjoying.

Always love my visits at off the vine food drinks and service are always great! Love the fun atmosphere, it’s a tad loud BUT I actually really like it because u don’t feel like ppl can hear your whole conversations. Not a place id bring the kids since it’s mainly high top tables and the bar is a focal point but who cares! We need those places where we can meet a friend for a drink and don’t have kids running around or crying!

Off the Vine is as good a restaurant as it gets. I regularly order pizza from here and find it as good as any place in Boston. My most recent experience was for an eat in meal for two: I ordered the pan fried scallops, and my dining partner ordered the salmon. Each of them was as good as(if not better than) Legal Seafoods. The salmon was prepared perfectly and served over rice. I thoroughly enjoyed my scallops with sweet potatoes. The service was great, as always. The staff seems to go out of the way to make the dining experience a pleasant one. Off the Vine isn’t the closest place to me, but it’s definitely my «go to» place for a nice dinner out.

If I could give this a negative review I would. I have waited to post this review after literally having words with the female owner. Oh my god! Subpar food, it was like still partially frozen/cold when I bit in. The salad we split was decent but overpriced for quality. So here’s my issue: the female owner has no business being in the service industry, or around people at all. We ate at the bar and aparently she felt the need to tell us the man we were talking to behind the bar was her man. She got prickly quick. We didn’t even try to be released from the burden of our terrible food or bill. We got attitude from the moment we sat. This place needs new ownership. Also a chef who doesn’t serve frozen food.

Whenever we go here we always ask«why don’t we come here more often. Food is always very good, service is always good but in the same vain it’s always a long wait for food. If you are looking for a casual dining spot with good food this is always a good take

Wonderful sandwich spot! The«off the wine special» and the French onion soup were delicious. I love their drink and potato chip choices as well– can’t say enough good things about them. Friendly staff and quick service. Beautiful interior and bar area too!

Let me start by saying I give this place a ton of business. We order sandwiches and salads to-go all the time. The ingredients are good and fresh, quality is great. It’s hit or miss when you eat-in; we’ve gone a couple times and it seems whatever we want to eat is already«sold out». The service is slow but they are friendly. The pizza isn’t their strong suit. It’s been burnt, it’s generally just not very good and the«large/regular» is small especially for the price. It’s a nice spot if you don’t want to travel to Newburyport or the Danvers/Peabody area. I would recommend this if you want a casual meal or want to grab a sandwich to take home.

So this is my first Unilocal review. I went to this place on 3÷28÷14 with 2 adults and a 2 year old. Waitstaff was very friendly, although a bit slow(but the place was packed so that has nothing to do with the negative review). We ordered a 17 dollar chicken parm and an osso buco. food was slow and when it came out it i was extremely disapointed. the chicken parm was lack luster at best(and at 17 dollars!?). It came with boxed penne pasta and a red marinara sauce that you could tell was from a tin can. Tasted as if it was from the sub shop next door. 17 dollar chicken parm from an Italian restaurant… i expect ATLEAST the sauce to be home made and preferably the pasta as well. the osso buco came out in the same red sauce and penne combination. I have never seen osso buco in a red sauce before(let alone one from a tin can). Every time i’ve had it(in Italy and at home) its in a hearty thick brown sauce… which makes the dish. I took one bite of the shank, and everything below was frozen… as in crystallized frozen. i have never sent anything back in my life. but this was terrible. advertising fresh Italian cuisine… then how was my pork shank icicles? i politely sent it back as everyone else finished their dishes completely. after a good 15 minutes i got up. found the waitress… and told her to kill the order. She said its ready if you want it, i said no… she asked if i wanted it boxed up… i said no thank you. i asked if they always served the osso buco the way they prepared it for me… she said yes. they took the osso buco off the bill and i left. i’m very forgiving with any restaurant but this was just terrible. seriously disappointed. My doors open to the chef if they would like to come over and learn how to make a home made marinara sauce in 10 minutes!

For a family place close to us in topsfield this is a 5-star. We used to live in the city so have previously been spoilt for choice, for a place that is **family friendly** simple Italian this place competes with Boston /Cambridge. We went with two kids and sat in the front porch area. The dining room, open kitchen and bar looked great but with two young restless kids we were grateful to sit away from the crowd. I had a mussels app that was amazing. I really hope they put it on the menu, hint hint, and keep it exactly the same as when it was a special. We had pizza. Plain(of course) for the kids. Sauce was top notch. The style of pizza reminds me of Emma’s in Inman. Flatbread style, like thicker thin crust. We had the Neapolitan. Crust, sauce, cheese and caramelized onions were great. The chicken was unusually large. I like that, my wife less so. Beer selection and wine both good without crazy markup. We had two pizzas, two beers, three glasses of wine and the mussels app for $ 75. Wait staff were all really good– great with the kids and patient. It felt like(for two tired parents of a 3 and 5 year old) we had a night out. The kids enjoyed it too ;)

Love this place! I have been visiting here for years… gets better and better. Burgers are the best you can get north of Boston.
