Sweeney’s Custom Muffler

Fantastic experience when I brought my audi rs7 in for some custom exhaust work. Well, they did an excellent job the first time. The work was on time as promised.
They did some other work on porsche turbo and was awesome.

This place is an absolute life saver! A couple days previous to when I came here I went to a shop that installed my muffler for cheap. But I unfortunately found out that they put my muffler on the opposite way, used smaller diameter piping when larger diameter piping was required and their welds were completely awful.
A good friend of mine recommended me this place after he also had a terrible experience at the shop that I stated above. I called Sweeney’s up and they were super calm and professional with me on the phone and gave me a quote right on the spot. I went to the shop later on that day and they gave me many options what I can do to my exhaust. If I would like to fix it or get something even better. I ended up getting a custom 3 inch exhaust for my truck and getting a cold air intake installed that I had sitting around. They also fixed my trailer wiring adapter free of charge!
Not only does my truck sound great, but it runs better than it ever has! I really am grateful to find this place because their level of professionalism and craftsmanship has really made them stand out from the other shops. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a place to get custom exhaust work done!

My mechanic did a engine swap on my navigator it came out good no check engine light on and with only 60 k miles. OK but he left a fuel leak that made a horrible sound on the passengers side everytime I floar it it will make it. So after weeks of searching I found this place it’s hidden so I spoke to Alvin a day before took the suv the next day and right away he knew what it was. So he told me a quote of 80 dollars which was a relief. Left it for a few hours came back at an told me the mechanic try to force some metal thingy it was Crack. He show me the parts and he said I gave them a challenge he ended up charging 95 but I gave them a Benjamin flat a 5 dollar tip for their troubles. Very friendly and explains and shows me the parts and knew what the other mechanic was trying to do. Proud of this guy’s forgot to get the other guys name. People and service like this makes me pay the price if it’s a little bit over my budget. GOOD JOB GUYS

I hate to do this but these people left me no other choice. I brought my car in about a week and a half ago to have a stainless steel exhaust tip put on. Mr Sweeney took 20 minutes and put on this exhaust tip. He charged me $ 30 for the service. I called and spoke to Alvin a few days later and told him that when I brought my car in for an oil change at a dealer that my exhaust tip fell off and I was charged $ 10 by my dealer to fix this issue. I also told Alvin that the dealer already fixed the issue with the exhaust tip and that there was nothing for me to come back to Sweeney muffler for me to show since the dealer fixed what Mr. Sweeney put on incorrectly. Alvin responded by saying that’s fine he will issue a credit to my bank card, but we need to see the car first. Alvin reassured me that I would be credited after I brought my car back for him and Sweeney to look at.
I brought my car back in today. Mr. Sweeney said that the exhaust tip looks to be in the same spot and refused to assist or credit my card. I told him the dealer said it got loose and that they charged me $ 10 to fix the issue with the exhaust tip that he put on. Alvin lied to me, he claimed that if I brought my car back into the shop that they would credit my card regardless, but just wanted to see it. All in all I left unhappy and no credit was given. Mr. Sweeney claimed that the dealer was at fault and told me to go to them for the $ 10 I was charged by them to fix the exhaust tip issue. I told Mr. Sweeney that the dealer would not refund my $ 10 because they fixed the exhaust tip that he put on incorrectly. Mr. Sweeney denied it and he said that the dealer lied to me and that they didn’t fix anything because nothing was wrong with the exhaust tip.
Mr Sweeney and Alvin NEVER credited my card ANYTHING AT ALL. After all was said and done today. Mr. Sweeney said to me: DO NOT leave him a bad review on Unilocal because he said that it wasn’t his fault. Does he really think I would leave him a good review especially after Alvin lied to me about bringing the car back and getting a credit. Yet they do all this when I come there to show my car.
Absolutely awful experience!

Had a very pleasant experience here. I hit something on the freeway disconnecting the exhaust from the downpipe. Looked up muffler shops on Unilocal and chose this shop based on the reviews. Would definitely recommend

Got work done here on my 2011 Audi A4. My brother is a crew member of his race team so thats how I was directed here. Who would you rather trust with your car? A hole in the wall muffler shop or somebody that builds and races real race cars for a living? His prices are cheaper than everybody else, and he’ll do 15x better work in a fourth of the time. Theres a reason why there is so many good reviews, trust Verne with your car and you won’t be disappointed.

Work Done: Flowmaster 40 series muffler with custom piping (reusing my old tips) installed on my 1999 Chevy Tahoe.
It turned out great… I had rubbing issues with my old setup from the piping rubbing against the sway bar. Anyone can bend pipe but these guys make it sexy (YOU TOO ALVIN!!). With the new install my pipe and sway bar no longer grind. Their welds are really clean I wish I had a picture to show but I was so excited about the car I totally forgot.
Verne makes good recommendations on what your options are, and his prices are good. He is local to the South Bay as well so I recommend seeing him for any stock/​aftermarket exhaust fixes that you want taken care of. I came from Culver City and it was still worth it.

Verne is a straight up guy, he knows his stuff and by talking to him and watching him work you can tell he has many years of experience. He made up a new cat back exhaust system for my 1984 Camaro, put a swage join in for me for easy install, so i don’t have to drop the rear & matched a quoted price for me which is a bonus! Didn’t have to wait long at all.

I was having a crappy day. When I went to my auto shop and found out I had poked a hole in my muffler after accidentally driving over a random something in the road, I expected my crappy day to continue and also be expensive.
Luckily, my go to mechanics (Saul and Robert at Hiro’s Auto) referred me to Sweeney’s. I was able to drive right over and although there was a wait, $ 20 and a super quick welding resulted in an unexpectedly nice twist to my day.
What made the difference, though, is really the attitude of the guys there. To be honest, I felt out of my element. This shop is in a crowded parking lot jam packed with cars (a nightmare for a «depth-​perception challenged» person like me). The other customers were young guys getting custom mufflers to make their cars louder. Verne and the other great employees I spoke with were kind and friendly. They seemed genuinely interested in helping me and all others who were at the shop. I don’t really give five star reviews often. But it was really nice to find the kind of customer service that is lacking in SO many other places in this muffler shop today. Thanks, guys!

I’d just like to say that Sweeny’s Muffler shop is amazing! They’re all so friendly and professional. I had my two dogs with me and one of my dogs thats afraid of everyone well she took to these guys like you wouldn’t believe. That told me a lot about their integrity and who they are as people! Not only did they charge me less than the estimate but they also assisted me with a couple of other issues that had nothing to do with my muffler. Awesome team of people here with quality, warrantied work at a great price, you really can’t beat it!

I have had 3 catalytic converters lifted off of my two cars over the last 8 months. The first time, I took it to a dealership where it took them over a day to diagnose the problem. And longer to order the part and fix.
The second time, Verne and Alvin fixed it ASAP. Not only that, they installed steel bars on the new catalytic converters to make them much more difficult to steal.
They do good work, and they are cool dudes. I highly recommend.

These are really good guys here. Not only do they do quality work (I’m a metal joining expert myself), they can recommend products based on your goals and make sure you do talk to them about it! They have excellent product knowledge and their communication is great!!! They have great prices, much fairer than all the shady spots in the bad areas.

I bought a set of retrofit OEM M mufflers for my 650i BMW from a dealer online. I thought it would be a bolt on application, «Boy I was wrong». The directions show that I must first cut off the existing mufflers, I do not have the tools or the time to do this type of work so I called South Bay BMW, the first appointment was two weeks out and a cost of over 200.00 to install. I was anxious about getting them installed sooner, so I Unilocaled and called Sweeney’s and spoke to Vern, Very nice down to earth guy. He told me to stop buy and he would take a look.
Sweeney’s Is hidden in the back of this repair shop row so you got to search for it. The place was very busy but still Vern came out with a smile and didn’t make me feel rushed. He spent the time and answered all my questions. I was worried because I didn’t want my car damaged or void the warranty.
I waited around for about 30 min. It took about 30 min to install, Measured, cut, swap parts, install, then spent the remaining time centering the exhaust tips. PERFECT INSTALL! They even help me cover the old mufflers before putting them in my trunk to prevent getting my carpet dirty.
I am a happy customer, Charged me a ¼ of what the dealer would have charged me, and same day service. What more can you ask for.
I will be returning again, Thanks Guys!

These guys are great. My car hit the bottom of the road hard and started to make a terrible rattling noise. Even though they specialize in mufflers, they know how to do it all. Vern, the guy who owns the place, has been there 35 years and he’s extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and a really cool guy. He looked underneath the car, fiddled with some stuff, had me come over and walked me through the whole thing. It was a learning experience which is an added bonus. I had 3 cars infront of me and still got out of there in way less than an hour. $ 20 and make car was purring like a kitten. Coming back here for everything, I love this place. Forget every other place on Sepulveda. They all suck compared to Sweeney’s.

Verne is the dude, I appreciate honest and quality work @ a solid price in a speedy manner… work the work done to my tahoe. I highly recommend and will return for future mods to my truck n car..

These guys rock! My kid is in the U.S. Navy and stationed up north. She had an issue with her Toyota Matrix back in 2013 with her CAT, so got Sweeney’s to install new CAT (good price). if you all know dealer aka steelers will charge you 1500.00 for new one. As you all know living in cali driving around with check engine light you aint going to get that new TAG. This year 2016 car needed smog, my kid takes it to a local shop and tech says it wont pass because CAT was the wrong one. Had her drive back down one weekend took it over to Sweeney’s and they made it RIGHT. I’m glad to see there are still honest people that own business in the So Bay. So if you ever looking for a good muffler shop and you live in the area hit these guys up. Oh and the RED camaro on the lift, I am going to buy it one day… lol.

My review has nothing to do with mufflers or even cars for that matter. It’s based on honesty.
I was working on my motorcycle, when not only did I strip a bolt, but also managed to break the reverse screw in half and lodge it inside the stripped bolt that I was trying to remove. My last recourse was to get the handlebar chopped off in order for me to remove the throttle grip.
I found Sweeney’s Custom Muffler while searching for welding shops on Unilocal.Before giving them a call, I admit it was an unusual task for a muffler shop to chop off the handlebar to my motorcycle. But, to my surprise, the person over the phone was willing to do it for a small fee of $ 20.
I drove down to Sweeney’s, and in less than 10 minutes the gentleman who I spoke with over the phone was able to chop off one end of my handlebar. Just when I was about to pay, he said he couldn’t charge me for a job that he felt was too easy. I was really surprised because nothing these days come free.
Anyway, consider this positive review as payment and testament for an honest job, which is pretty hard to come by these days.

Don’t hesitate to bring your car here. Alvin (the owner?) is a straight forward guy. I had a muffler delete done at a previous shop and wasn’t happy with it. I had Sweeny’s put my stock mufflers back on! It’s like night and day. I had an appointment with Alvin. Took me in right away, worked on my car right away and was in and out within 45 minutes. He lined up my stock mufflers perfectly and now my car drives awesome! Won’t hesitate to come back.
