surprised so many bad reviews. I agree the layout is a little strange and does still remind me of claim jumpers but moving on… the food has been good and service has been ok whenever the bf and I have come. He loves ribs and tonys too. Have come here mostly with coupons and specials but never a bad time. Sad to get email today that it is closing but maybe not total surprise to most here due to many bad reviews. Gotta try carson one now I guess.

I don’t usually write reviews unless it’s really good or really bad… this one is really bad. Stay away. 1. Restaurant has a lot of incest/bugs flying around 2. Food is below average. 3. Knifes and forks are dirty 3. Service is okay. 4. Spend $ 80 for two people, pretty shitty deal for the food we got.

Just stay away, the beef ribs are overly salty and when we asked if this was normal they went to the manager who said its supposed to be salty.

I continue to come here for lunch even though their service is sooooooooo sloooooooooooooooow. They’ve never been mean or rude, just slow. I think if they would be mean or rude, I would’ve definitely have stopped coming. I guess the reason I keep coming back is because they have OK lunch specials. I usually get the ¼ chicken lunch special. I have also tried their ribs in a basket lunch special, that one is pretty good too.

First went to this location after they opened, service and food was mediocre at best. We wrote this off as being new. Went back for a new try. Was not much better than first visit. Building: this is the skeletal remains of one of Claim Jumper. Doesn’t have the right feel. Something feels off, but could not put my finger in it. Was clean and well kept. Energy: Went at dinner time on a Saturday night and the place was dead. There was no energy, everyone was moving on a slow pace. Service: We sat in the bar, our server was also the bar tender. Generally service was good and fast. Food: The food was warm, not hot. My medallions were cooked perfect and very good. The ribs were under seasoned and dry. Baked potato was essentially cold, cold enough that the soft whipped butter would not melt. Baked beans were barely warm and very vinegary. In all, not the meal I was expecting. I will need to go elsewhere to get my rib fix. Overall: I think I’ll pass, I gave them a second chance, but failed. I seriously think this place will not make it much longer. Good service, low energy, mediocre food.

I’m shocked to see so many negative reviews! I love this place! Think a combination of a chart house and outback and you kind of get the idea. Tony Roma’s is delicious! Every kind of steak I’ve had here, from fillet mignon to the sirloin is a perfect cut and perfect temperature(for the price). They have an awesome choice of sauces/glacé including my favorite — the peppercorn sauce. This place should not be compared to claim jumper because their specialties are the ribs, seafood and steaks for a lesser price. I went here for the first time about a year ago and have been coming back at least twice a month ever since. This location has the nicest staff(they refill my drinks and swap the breadbasket without my asking) and there is never a wait, which is fantastic. You should really give this place a try with an open mind, because I doubt you’ll be disappointed!

I tried Tony Romas for the first time by accident one night several months ago because it was the only thing open still at 940 at night. Ever since I come to Tony Romas at least once or twice a month. The service here excellent and there food is very high quality and flavorful. There filet mignon and ribs are the top items here. The fillets are always cooked to perfection never over some and there ribs are always so juicy and fall right off the bone. Also the one thing I love is that there is never a wait to be seated. And you receive your food quickly. Although, I’m so sad to see so many poor reviews of comparing Tony Romas to Claim Jumpers but personally I’ve had both and they are two totally different types of restaurants that you can’t compare. I am glad that I gave Tony Romas a try before ever reading these reviews.

This place sucked! It is the skeletal remains of Claim Jumpers and it looks like they just threw a bunch of random artwork and tables an called it a restaurant. The service was bad, the food was bland and the wet wipes dry.

I enjoyed the food. Went around 4ish. We were seated right away. The greeter sat us near the cute modern fake fireplace. The waiter took our order right away, he checked on us frequently. He re-filled drinks of unlimited drinks without us asking. It was pretty slow when we arrived, thrre was ust one other couple eating. About a hour later people were coming after work for happy hour anf sat at the full bar. I believe they come often because the bartender and our waiter knew them by name. It was a Clean restaurant, quick and good service. The only thing I didn’t do was redeem my Unilocal check in. It is if you spend $ 40.00 minus drinks and taxes you get $ 10.00 off. So I guess. I will use it on my next visit.

Wish I read the reviews first but we had just been driving around and thought why not for sentimental reasons. it used to be our beloved Claim Jumpers so we couldn’t help going in. Saturday, dinner time. Hardly anyone in there, I think there was more staff than patrons Our server, RODRIGO, never asked us once how our food was. He’d only come by to take an empty plate away. Other than that we could hear him chatting it up with his coworkers in the back. What pissed me off was that he was very attentive to this older Caucasian couple dining a few tables away, but when he passed us, it’s like we weren’t even there. Had RODRIGO asked us, «How’s everything tonight,» I would’ve said this – «Well, Rodrigo, thanks for asking, my 9 yr old son’s $ 18 steak is so tough that he can barely swallow without his eyes welling up with tears, so I gave him my Medallions, which was very good by the way, and I ate the rest of his very tough sirloin, cause that’s what moms do, but anyway, that’s how everything is tonight. And no, we don’t need another refill since we’re about ready to leave, but yeah, thanks for asking.» Never again. When we first got there I asked if he could make an exception so my son could have the medallion lunch plate(not offered on weekends) so I wasn’t expecting much since it states it on the menu. But why, they have no problem putting a plate with three medallions but they can’t make a plate with 2. Doesn’t make sense. The kids menu SUCKS and looks like it was put together as an afterthought. Hello TR, kids love steak too, so please put it on your kids menu. But who cares. I surely don’t since I won’t be going back there. Rodrigo, I don’t know if you Unilocal at all, but I’m the one who left you a crumpled up 5 dollar tip in the payment folder. You’re lucky you got even that much. IF the place was busy I could understand being neglected — to a point — but we were surrounded by empty tables. OH and we also ordered potato skin appetizers. Buuuurnt as a muthaaaa. It is what it is. And what this place is. is a PIECEOF… !!! lol

This is my second experience at this restaurant. The first about a year ago, came in late at night in the bar and ordered off the appetizer menu. Nothing to be really said for. The onion loaf thingy isn’t cooked enough and everything just tasted like the oil it was fried in. Didn’t have meat so couldn’t judge that. Service was OK, it was 10 pm at night so we didn’t expect exemplary service. 1÷17÷13 was my second experience and like the Unilocal saying goes… Meh. I’ve experienced better. Carry out order. Called first to see if I could use the Best Buy’s Guide $ 5.00 off coupon on carry out. said Yes, very accommodating Hospitality Staff. I was greeted promptly, my order was taken and both the Manager and the server who took my order were super nice and I am sure if I had eaten inside I would have a had a decent service experience. Menu on line: Not current per the Staff. Ordered the Ultimate Grill Power Combo: Equates to a big box of meat, of what APPEARED to be generous portions: Menu Change: The Ultimate combo instead of the 7oz sirloin you receive about 3 oz. slices of tri-tip roast. The grilled shrimp has been replaced by 4 over breaded shrimp(to make them appear larger). The food quality. Meh… Me thinks not. More on the food: Ribs, received the st. Louis style which were supposed to be meatier and more marbled. I got barely any meat about 1″ of gristle and cartilage on the ends of each rib and they were very dry. so much for marbling. The Tri-tip I requested as rare as possible, but it was well done. it was tasty but the meat was tender in some areas and gristly in others. I wouldn’t have minded a little fat, but it wasn’t fat but gristle. Sides: Forgot I liked their beans ordered baked potato and corn on the cob. Corn was a bit over cooked and potato, not cooked enough. The skin on the potato was like paper, not crispy or browned., It appeared they microwave their potatoes there. the pile of crispy onion strings was soggy thick like undercooked onion rings didn’t even attempt to eat them. Everything just seemed kind of bland and blah. Nothing to get excited over. So overall I would say that the staff tries very hard to compensate for lack of food quality and flavor.

Despite of all the negative reviews, I decided to check Tony Roma’s. My dining experience was great. I had a full rack of St. Louis with coleslaw and corn on the cob. Their corn on the cob was heaven. I enjoyed every bite of it. And St. Louis ribs were delicious. Crispy on the outside and moist inside. In my opinion, they are much better than Lucille’s. The servers were nice & attentive and left me alone while I was gorging on my ribs. I didn’t look pretty. Ha ha. Don’t eat ribs in front of someone whom you are trying to impress. Not good for first dates!!! (It’s okay with your husband if your children are over 20 years old. What can he do?) I am definitely coming back here with my baby sister who’s a big fan of Tony Romas.(Too bad their Glendale location closed down)

This is almost like a 2 in 1 review since I came here twice. The first time I came for lunch with my husband and although the place was empty the food and service were quite good! Although I believe it may have only been because we ordered the most expensive things on the menu. We ended up being too full for dessert but promised that we would come back again and have dessert another time since we enjoyed our meal so much. The second time we arrived a week later and we were both very excited because we were looking forward to the same quality of service we received before. We were very disappointed. We ordered a smaller lunch(burgers with fries) so we could have room for dessert after and the waiter seemed very annoyed with us. We felt almost like we were wasting his time. He didn’t even wait for me to finish giving my order before he cut me off and asked my husband what he wanted. So I interjected and asked him if I could please have bacon on my burger and he looked at me like I was asking him to move a mountain but scribbled it down anyway. When other customers came in he seated them gracefully and began gushing over them. It made us feel like chopped liver. We didn’t understand why that group of people was being treated with hospitality while we were being ignored and getting a bad attitude. When a waitress came to bring us our meal she asked if there was anything else she could get and I said that I would like a strawberry milkshake. She actually laughed at me! I wanted to crawl in a hole after that, it made me feel so awful. I have never in my life had a server laugh in my face for ordering something. My husband finished his burger before me and the second he did the waiter swooped in and snatched our plates away and I wasn’t even done eating! I still had all of my fries and half of my burger left. I could have yelled at him but decided that if the service was this horrible that I would rather just leave anyway. I didn’t even feel like we were treated like human beings. :( That being said, we still love Tony Romas the chain. We will still eat the food. But we will NOT be visiting this location again. Ever.

I’m a bit surprised at the low rating for this Tony Roma’s. However, my review comes with a caveat since we came in on a Saturday at around 11:30 am(my daughter has an early lunch time) and we were essentially the only customers at that time. We were obviously seated immediately and got to choose our own table within a specified area of the restaurant. I quickly noticed how clean and well put-together the facility is even knowing that this particular location was at one time a Claim Jumper’s. The bathroom was first rate in terms of its cleanliness and I particularly liked the sink’s design(reminded me of a sloped ditch). Our server, Karina was awesome. It’s a bit more demanding as a waitress to assist a family with a toddler. She was extremely patient and her act of servitude was greatly appreciated. I ordered the crispy onion burger with a side of rice(substituted for fries) and my wife had a chicken breast burger with bacon and fries. My burger was awesome, highlighted by the crispy onions. Next time, I’ll probably order the crispy onion appetizer because in my mind, it’s better than the Awesome Blossom from Chili’s. If you live locally, there’s a BOGO coupon available from the Best Buys Guide magazine that may easily be discarded as junk mail. It’s pretty much valid any time except holidays.

Birthday Month 2012! Free entrée($ 15.99 max value) for joining their E-Club. May I just say, I’ve never had a speedier dinner service than at this Tony Roma’s(excluding Asian joints). We sat down, ordered & within 10 minutes, our entire meal showed up. I think our entire dinner took less than 45 minutes. The service was polite & cordial but nothing special. Maybe that’s why the restaurant always look empty… because the customer turnover rate is so fast! We tried: — Steak & mushroom flatbread appetizer($ 11.99): This was not good. Tasted like a sloppily put together microwavable dish. — Roma Rack of Baby back ribs($ 19.99): 9 bones(vs. the Full rack = 12 bones) of fall off the bone meat which was pretty good. Came with 2 sides: broccoli(these were really good steamed broccoli — not soggy & retained a lot of flavor) & loaded mashed potatoes w/bacon & chives sans cheese(tasted like it was missing some butter, but very creamy). — Free rolls & herb butter: mmmMmm. their complimentary bread was really good, especially the spread! Birthday discount: They take off $ 15.99 from your bill, so it isn’t BOGO or deducting the lowest priced item on your bill. When you sign up for the E-Club, you have to designate a specific Tony Roma’s and you can ONLY redeem the coupon at the location you indicated.

I wish there was an option to rate this restaurant even lower — the food was awful. It seemed like it was microwaved and was hastily made, not to mention overpriced too… — the service i can’t say for sure, but when me and my family went, our server seemed like it was her first day on the job, so our meal was kinda scattered and messed up. However, i did look around and it seemed that others weren’t getting the best service either –in the end i wish i could’ve read the reviews earlier so that i could’ve avoided this restaurant and went to another.

Food hasn’t been anything special, came here twice so far since it opened. First time I had the baby back ribs and wasn’t overly impressed. Afterwards I remember wishing that I should of went to Lucielles’s instead. The second time I ordered a sirloin and was pretty bad, more comparable to a Norm’s special. I probably won’t be going back. If you have a craving for ribs, go hit up Lucielle’s. Man I miss Claim Jumpers.

It was hard to go here, Claim Jumper was one of our fav places. But we figured what the heck. It was busy but they got us seated pretty fast, with in 20 minutes. The redone place was nice, clean, lotsof seats, lots of service. Menu has lots of items, drinks, deserts, prices are ok as well. Ill start by saying i orderd a Long Island from the full bar, and when it came it was a little dissapointing. This was a $ 12 mixed drink and it was«weak» it had very little alcohol in it. For $ 12, thats $ 2 more than at other«top drink» places, and it was not even close to being a good drink. So the bar tender needs to step it up, for $ 12 poor some good stuff in there come on. Food wise they seem a little disorganized. We ordered boneless chicken fingers in honey bbq, not buffalo, they got that wrong, and we didnt even get the right replacement ones until after we were done with our main meal. Not sure why it took them 40 minutes to make an appitizer. But they gave us a free plate of them so atleast the waitress did it right. My chicken alfredo pasta meal was good, good size portion and it tasted good. My wife ordered the chinese chicken salad. It looked good and she liked it, big portion and tasted good. But they forgot to put chicken on it. They ended up bringing us the chicken later. Over all not a bad place, prices are fair food it good, they just need to work out some kinks on the kitchen and bar side of the operation. The service was also good, she was very busy but tried hard to pay attention to us.

We were sad when Claim Jumpers suddenly, and quickly, closed down their doors all throughout Southern California. The building it occupied was an empty cornerstone of a bustling shopping plaza. So, when the signs for a Tony Roma’s appeared, I knew that I had to go when it opened. I hadn’t gone since I lived in Australia, and I had nostalgic anticipation. On the second day of it’s opening, I was here. DECO: 4 stars The deco is very new American style. They blend both the wooden theme left behind by Claim Jumper, and add a clean flair, integrating cool color tiles that compliment the mahogany all around. They add artwork that is framed portraying nuevo art advertisement, and the lamps are festive colors blended into glass cones. Every thing is so clean, and the air is filled with excitement for what could be a long romance with the city of Torrance. SERVICE: 3 — 4 stars The service was great. Everyone was doe-eyed and ready for action. The large wooden doors were opened for us, and we were greeted by three or four people as we walked up to that large wooden host table. As we sat down, our server was warm, and really tried the hard sell of additional menu items. Other servers and workers would come by to greet us and ask us how our experience was, including the manager near the end of the meal. We were given warm wet wipes at the end of the meal as well. Our server even waited for each one of us to finish to personally open, and hand us the wipes(how lovely). It was like being in first class! Although it was nice having all this attention, after a while it did become a nuisance. Someone would show up every three minutes, and friendly started becoming stalker-ish. Yes, you guys are great, but give us some space! I just want to be friends. It’s not you, it’s me. FOOD: 3 — 4 stars Tony Roma’s is known specifically for one thing: their ribs. You can almost never go wrong with that choice, and that’s exactly what I ordered. I got the St. Louis ribs with their house BBQ sauce. The meat was tender and cooked with a nice char on the outside, really capturing the smokey flavors of meat, fire, and sauce. Each bite oozed with natural juices, and the word«suckling» seemed very appropriate. I also had some of their baby back ribs and in comparison, I have to say this: the baby back ribs are definitely much more tender than the St. Louis ribs, but the flavor is more aged and robust in the St. Louis ribs. The baby back ribs had a zippier, cleaner taste to it, if that makes sense. Not knocking one or the other, but at least you have an idea of what they taste like. I recommend making your own comparisons though! The reason the food isn’t higher is because the sides kind of floundered and failed. Although they have some unique sides(bacon mac ‘n cheese, sweet potato fries with maple butter sauce), they aren’t necessarily stand out-ish. Like most restaurants that allow you a wide selection of sides, you give up truly complimenting side dishes for freedom of choice. PRICE: 4 stars I have to be honest, I couldn’t remember clearly how much I paid last time I ate at a Tony Roma’s, but I thought it was in the figure of $ 25. Today, I had their half rack lunch entrée and it was only $ 16. It is a great price, and if you decide to go for the whole rack, it’s only $ 20 for the dinner entrée version. Good times. CONCLUSION It’s good seeing Tony Roma’s pop up again. Ribs are always good and Tony Roma’s usually makes some of the best. They are king of the hill when it comes to chain restaurant ribs. This location is also currently working on a happy hour menu so look forward to that. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the hospitality.
