Tutor Time

Tutor Time picked my daughter up from kindergarten for after school care. They forgot to get her a few times, but her teacher always brought her to the office at school. That should have been a big enough red flag for me to find new child care, but now I know. The last time they forgot her, a parent found her crying on the street corner alone 30 minutes after school let out and brought her back to the school office. The school called me at work, and I rushed over to get her. After making sure my daughter was OK, I dropped her off with her dad. I went to Tutor Time to find out what had happened. The office staff told me that my daughter had been picked up and was at their facility. It was over 2 hours since school had let out, and this place had no idea they had forgotten my daughter! If that parent hadn’t seen my daughter on the street corner, my 5 year old daughter would have been missing for hours, and I wouldn’t have had any idea until I tried to pick her up at Tutor Time after work.
This place seems to have all the checks and balances in place with their computer sign in system, but they don’t. They left my 5 year old daughter on a street corner, and hours later had no idea they had forgotten her.
Maybe they are OK if you drop off and pick up, but I would not trust any child care center that thought a child was at their facility for over 2 hours when they never picked her up.

I love tutor time but more importantly both my kids love it. The directors Mrs Denise and Miss Christine are both very easy to get ahold of or sit down to talk with. The teachers seem to know most of the kids and engage them on a daily basis weather it’s out on «one» of the play yards, in passing in the halls or parents night out. The staff has always been nothing but loving and supportive to my family, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for not only my children but my family. They have given something to my kids that I could not… a love of school and learning.

I can’t say enough great things about Tutortime Torrance! My son has been attending the school since he was 3 months old and I intend on keeping him there as long as possible :)
Everyone at this facility really cares about the kids, their development, their well-​being and everything in between. I really am grateful that I can drop my son off and know that he is well-​cared for and people really care about him. Plus, the facility is well-​lit, has security measures, and the staff checks all visitors. It’s such a wonderful peace of mind!
If you are considering placing your child in daycare, please consider Tutortime!!! They’re amazing, well-​qualified, caring, and wonderful people.

Tutor Time Torrance provides a safe and nurturing atmosphere for our two kids. The secure entry, cameras and set back from the street provide a safe and secure setting. The teachers are wonderful, loving and patient. The curriculum provides age-​appropriate learning in a nurturing environment. We like that they are a pilot for the PreciouStatus app that gives us real-​time notifications of their daily activities. Parent’s night out is a monthly blessing that allows us to have a date night and know that our kids are safe and having fun with their friends and teachers. Most of all, our kids love it there and love their teachers.

Our not-​so-​shy daughter left Tutor Time in Fall 2014 to attend Kindergarten in a Catholic school. Now she’s back for Summer Camp. It’s like she never left — all teachers are friendly familiar faces. Some kids who attended school here welcomed her back with big smiles and open arms. Her old daycare mates are back too. My wife and I work full-​time jobs so placing our 5-​year old here was a no-​brainier.
We decided to enroll our 2-​year old as well. Previously our parents looked after her but we feel it’s time for her to go to «school» and be with other kids her age. Discovered some teachers had left but we’re happy Ms Gloria is still here! She’s such a great care giver!
We like the upgrades to their programs. There was no «Toddler Option» classroom when my older child went to Tutor Time. There are two classes for 2 – 3 year olds: 24 – 30 months learn the basics — colors, shapes, using utensils to feed themselves, drinking out of a Dixie cup, circle time, etc. and 30 – 36 months — activities like sing songs, group play, and potty training. Another cool thing is the «PreciouStatus» app. Teachers send real-​time status with pictures to your email or Smart Phone app. We know when our 2-​year old eats snacks and lunch, what % was eaten, when she goes out to play, takes a nap and wakes up. We get pictures of some of the activities she participates in.
Note: Read the negative reviews about the cost, the curriculum, etc. All we can say is if you don’t like it then find another program which offers the same level of care, security and education for a lower price. Short of enrolling your child in regular school (Public or Catholic school) or child care at the YMCA down the street, there aren’t many options available for less $$$. The cheaper ones don’t have all the amenities Tutor Time offers. And the staff especially Ms Denise, Kristine and Anna are always available (maybe not at the same time) to answer all questions, concerns and issues. Child care is expensive nowadays but we feel you get what you pay for at Tutor Time.

My son started Tutor Time in the spring. Up until then my parents were taking care of him on a daily basis; therefore he was extremely attached to my parents. My dad stayed with my son the first day to make sure my son was comfortable with the teachers & new friends. My son was in Mr Desi & Ms Auni’s class and according to my dad both teachers made sure my son Max was included in games & other activities the kids were involved in. I immediately felt at ease knowing that the teachers & staff truly cared about my son’s transition into a new setting. The staff made sure to contact me on my son’s second day (my dad didn’t stay) to let me know he was crying. I knew he was going to be okay it was just going to take some getting use to his new routine. Sure enough when I picked him up my 4 year son was all smiles — he just had a rough start. Denise & Christine were also super accommodating to my request for changes in days & drop off times which helped me out tremendously with my work schedule! Everyone at a Tutor Time has been wonderful! My son will start Kinder in the fall but I am planning on enrolling my 2year old :)

My son jaronimo regular daycare was closed yesterday so I Set him up here at tutor time through my jobs back up care advantage program. He LOVED it … the classrooms were amazing, clean & lotsof thingsto occupy little ones imagination. I’m setting up my 3 little ones for spring break hopefully I can seal a spot.

I am amazed that Tutor Time ever passed child safety requirements. The kindergarteners are mixed in with the grade school age kids ranging from age 5 to 12. A quality, licensed child care facility would never have the younger, defenseless kids and the older kids who can bully them around, in a shared environment. Separating kids according to their age groups is critical for the safety and emotional development of young kids. Additionally, the «teachers» that are supposed to be «tutoring» the kids seem to rarely interact with the kids, much less tutor them or discipline the older kids that bully the younger kids. Also, the name of the facility is false advertising since they offer absolutely no tutoring services. Since they charge $ 127/​week, they should offer tutoring by competent, certified instructors since the kids spend three to four hours after school in their presence. This place really only offers a «babysitting» service for kids with no standardized tutoring, educational curriculum or enrichment program. Additionally, based on the other review on Unilocal,I worry that they could forget to pick up my kids. Unless major improvements are made, I would definitely not recommend sending your kids to this facility.

My son has been attending Tutor Time for almost 2 months now and we absolutely love it there! The staff is so welcoming and it feels like I’m dropping my son off to a bunch of auntie’s or second moms. They know all the children’s names and were always greeted by Miss Ana who we love. My son loves his teachers Miss Carol & Miss Janet and I can see they genuinely care for my him as well. Clean and well maintained rooms. They provide healthy breakfast, lunch and snacks which makes it easier for me. Since my son has been going there his speech and comprehension skills have improved so I know he’s learning the whole time he’s there. They always have fun activities for the kids and keep them busy throughout the day. I wouldn’t send my son anywhere else now that he’s been at Tutor Time.

My daughter attends this school from last year.
All teachers are nice and kind.
Surroundings are clean and cozy.
She likes to go to school.
And She loves her teachers and friends.

I would never ever bring my child to this place. Five different times they were supposed to pick my child up from school and never did. I went there to pick her up and they didnt even know she wasn’t there. At any given point they dont know what kid is there and what kid is not. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD TO THIS FACILITY IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE WELL BEING OF YOUR CHILD!!!

2 of our children, now young adults, attended SBJA for several years. They received an exemplary foundation education, especially in writing and math. The staff were supportive and loving. Children were taught to respect one another and embrace differences. We would send our children (grandchildren?) there in a heartbeat.

My 4 year-​old son’s normal preschool was closed for two weeks at the end of the summer. I was referred here by Backup Care Advantage through my work.
Everything was set up for me over the phone. I met Denise and the first drop off went very smoothly. The overall atmosphere with parents, kids and staff seemed very pleasant and upbeat.
My son was here for about seven days or so and he seemed to have a really good time, and enjoyed the new kids and play equipment. Having lunch and snack provided was very convenient, and the menu sounded good!

I’ve been looking for an infant daycare with flexibility, cleanliness, and reliability for my then 10month old daughter and I couldn’t be happier to have found tutor time. I called and dropped in for a visit the same day and I was impressed with the cleanliness as well as the friendliness of the staff. It shows in their interactions that they genuinely care about the children. I also appreciate that every staff member knows her by her name. They have a great staff, security system, and small class sizes. When I drop her off, I know she is in good hands.
