Ashley’s Sweet Beginnings is my favorite place to come for lunch or a sweet treat! The turkey powerhouse is great, it’s HUGE expect to take some home. Although, the Reuben could tie for the best sandwich they have. The pasta salad is really good too, the cucumber dill kind is awesome. For dessert I’d try any one of their cupcakes(I’ve never had one I didn’t like). But I think what called out to me most recently is the Ashley cakes. They are tiny layered cakes! I tried the canoli flavor today(I couldn’t decide between that, the lemon drop and the chocolate mint), it was delicious! And as always I limited myself to just one turnover for a treat tomorrow. Thanks Ashley and the rest of the staff I’ll be back soon!

Food was average. Waited 25 minutes just for 2 sandwiches. We had originally wanted to eat there but had to change it to go because it took too long. No explanation or apology

Service — 2 stars. Lady behind the counter wasn’t rude or mean but she wasn’t really friendly either. She just seemed annoyed that I asked about the available soups and then asked for the French onion soup that is ONTHEMENU! The big issue was that I said I was eating there and got a plastic clamshell to go container thrown at me with an opened, half empty plastic utensil packet. Every order that came out after that was served neatly on a nice plate with a little fruit salad. Food — 3 stars. Don’t get me wrong, it was good. I got the half and half salad and sandwich. Salad was a basic house with a packet of dressing. Got the chicken salad. I was told that there were three breads but later over heard that I could have gotten it on a croissant. It was ok. Could have used some more seasoning. Cupcake — 1 star. I got the Boston crème cupcake. It was like it was old. The frosting was the consistency of really dense fudge. The cake was dry and crumbling. The little marble sized drop of crème was sort of sour. My 4 year old nephew can make better cupcakes out of a box. At least it looked pretty…

What a disappointment! It has been a few days and I’m still thinking about it and actually it still makes me very upset. We visited Kenilworth Mall to show our new grandson the train display December 30th. around dinner time, 5 pm. With only having a pizza restaurant in the mall I was very happy to see Ashley’s Sweet Beginnings offering soup. I purchased a $ 3.50 cup of Chicken Noodle soup to go. We seat out in the mall and after getting all the baby supplies out we processed to feed him the soup. He hated it! So we tried it and WOW, it was the worst soup we ever had, only a few noodles and one piece of celery in the watered down salty broth. Do you guys water down can soup? Why don’t you do everyone a favor and stop selling soup!

I had a great experience here. I special ordered a cake and it was beautiful, tasty and well priced. I normally order from Graul’s but wanted to try something different. If Ashley’s can stay consistent with the level of service I received, they will definitely receive their share of the custom cake market. I will try them again.

My husband, daughter and I stopped in for the first time on Saturday, it’s a cute little corner shop with café food and sweets. It looked like a nice place to get something for dessert later that night and I’m always up for trying new places. After looking around my eye caught the tiramisu dessert, I am a major fan of tiramisu so I HAD to have it. I got my daughter a cupcake with yellow cake, white frosting and cute leaf sprinkles and I got my husband a cookies and cream cupcake. After we got home we dug into our treats and I have never in my life been so disappointed by tiramisu, stale ladyfingers, they had that out in the air stale taste. Absolutely no coffee flavor, lacking that yummy most and creamy consistency that tiramisu is known for, it wasn’t worth the 5 dollars I paid for it . I took a bite of my daughter’s cupcake when she wasn’t too into eating it, she’s three so she is a big fan of cupcakes lol. The cake was more of a cornbread consistency, heavy and lacking. The frosting wasn’t any better, the cupcake was just lacking everything I have come to expect from a good cupcake. A store bought would have been better . My husband liked his cookies and cream cupcake but also talked of the cake being heavy and not what you want in a cupcake. Although the place was cute and clean I won’t be returning. Its really upsetting because I have been looking for a new cupcake place since my favorite unfortunately went out of business. There is a lot of potential for a shop like this but there’s a major lack in quality control.

Really want to love but have tried several times and just not anything special or great. I’ve purchased cup cakes several times and they look adorable but they have been too dense and dry and the flavor just ok. Also had my Birthday cake from here and same thing looked adorable but cake was dry and flavor just underwhelming

Just finished cleaning up after an event catered by Ashley, could not be happier! Everyone who attended loved it and RAVED about the food! As an event planner they have just become my «go to» place for all my catering needs! The family run business features Ashley, her mother, father and her sisters along with her GRANDMOTHER, all baking, cooking and loving everything they do!

I have no idea how others have given this place positive reviews. My child wanted a cake pop and what we received was uncooked dough in a tasteless coating. I ordered a black-bottom. It was mushy in some spots and dry in others. In an effort to quietly and politely point out my concern about the uncooked pop, I alerted the cashier as an FYI. Strangely, I was quickly referred to «Ashley» herself who tripped over herself giving some ridiculous explanation how the cake and coating make the cake mushy blah blah blah. I was perplexed as I did not ask for an explanation but rather was just trying to give some polite feedback. However, after the ridiculous explanation and no offer to refund or replace the pop, I decided to give my review of the mushy and dry black bottom that I couldn’t even peel from the paper. I noted that in my experience with black bottoms, one should be able to at least peel it from the paper. So I asked her if their hope was for customers to be able to peel the black bottoms from the paper. Ashley, oddly responded, «Yes and No». Well, that ended the interaction for me. I asked for a refund and was happy to receive it. The prices in this shop do not match the quality. Refund was handled politely but we really just wanted a treat that was edible.

As far as I’m aware this is one of the only true bakeries in Towson and it’s fantastic! With all the changes along Allegheny Ave, Ashley’s immediately has become my favorite lunch spot. The sandwiches are terrific and their Specials truly are special! They bake their own bread, croissants, pretzel rolls and all the ingredients are obviously fresh and carefully chosen. Soup is very good and so is the quiche. The desserts are consistently terrific; my favorites are blueberry turnover or rasberry-coconut cake — YUM! I like that I can drive, find close parking, and be served reasonably quick. I suppose I’d like to be able to walk here to lunch though I like to eat at the mall area and can see this will remain an excellent choice even when the weather gets bad. The staff are friendly and efficient :-)

Met here for a meeting and I must admit it’s the cutest place. I had an apple something or another and although I didn’t eat the whole thing there it was awesome and my BF appreciated and devoured the left overs. I will be back to try other items on the menu all though I’m a little afraid of the calories lol.

I have never given a 1 star review. There is usually something redeeming about the place or the food. Not this time. Im wondering if the other 3 reviews all from the same time are friends/family. We got 6 cupcakes to go. I have 2 young kids so we love cupcakes and have tried several bakeries. We have our favorite places but we also love to try new places. These were by far the worst cupcakes I’ve ever had. I’m not sure if mine was even baked all the way. It tasted very doughy. The cake was extremely dense. The frosting, although very pretty to look at, was tasteless. My husband, my 2 kids and I had them for dessert and none of us got even half way through a cupcake. That has NEVER happened before – NEVER. We threw out the last 2 from the half dozen. I didn’t have lunch there so I’m hoping it’s better. I never wish a business bad luck. It’s someone’s dream and its a paycheck for employees. I wish them well just without anymore of my money. Back to other bakeries for us.

I live in Chicago and wanted to send cupcakes to a friend in Towson. Ashley’s sent over 24 cupcakes within 3 hours and they were an absolute hit! They were beautiful and delicious. I could not have been happier with their service. KGG Wilmette, IL

This is a beautiful café. I felt welcomed as soon as i walked in. Turnovers are to die for. Zeke’s coffee was a fabulous surprise. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. I talked to them and found out that they buy from local farmers markets to get only the freshest produce. I Will Be Back.

Great turkey power house sandwich. My friend loved the Portobello sandwich. Everything was very fresh. We also tried the hummus and was not disappointed. I also had the lemonade and it was fresh and delicious! I highly recommend it. Oh, and the apple turnovers for dessert!
