If there was a zero star ranking I would give it to them. I understand it gets stressful when a business is busy. …after ordering a sandwich with a side of fries over the phone, I came down to wait 10 minutes in line to receive the wrong order. Had to wait another 10 minutes for them to fix it, which was then followed up with a lecture from the older woman working about how fries normally cost extra and she’d «let it go this time». I stated I’ve ordered here many times, and know the upcharge and would be happy to pay. I got a sassy comment and a hand wave gesturing me to leave… needless to say I will not be returning.

I’m always sad to have to write a bad review for a small local business, especially when some of the people there seem to work so hard. I work in the office building where Jake’s is located and it’s just so dang convenient, and I keep trying the food here in hopes they will improve… but over the last 5 years my experience has been that the service is just ok, and the food is greasy, bland, inconsistent and frankly sometimes downright awful. I really want this place to be successful, but I’m disappointed nearly every time I go. This might seem like a petty complaint, but the menu item I have the most experience with are their bagels, and I mention this first because I just don’t understand how you can mess up something as simple as a toasted bagel with cream cheese… it makes me wary of experimenting too much with other items on their menu at a higher price. I’ve paid $ 2.65 each time for bagels smeared with a nearly invisible layer of cream cheese, bagels that were super stale, 50% burned from the toaster being turned up too high, fried on the greasy grill instead of toasting it… I’d guess only 1 out of 10 bagels I’ve ordered have been fresh, toasted properly with a normal amount of cream cheese. Twice I tried their mac & cheese but both times it was more like«mac & grease» and the second time it was actually bad(like, sour? rotten? whatever happens to mac & cheese if its not fresh). I’ve ordered a few other things that turned out fine, like a greek salad, a cheese steak sub, chili, chicken salad wrap and the veggie powerhouse sandwich — they were all ok. Nothing to write home about. I’d much rather save my money and eat something out of a can. My advice to management would be to simplify their menu so they can focus on providing good quality food instead of a variety of bad quality/poorly prepared food, and to provide ongoing instruction to staff about consistency when it comes to the food prep. Without some major changes, I don’t think I will be giving Jake’s any more chances, or any more of my money.

The guy who cooks the food wears the same unwashed clothes every time I’ve been there and is always playing with his beard and rubbing his nose while handling food. Gross! I’m never going back.

Went here for lunch cause I was in a rush. I got a turkey sandwich, soda, n chips for $ 9. Junipers(Uncle Wigley’s) so much better and it is $ 1 cheaper and you get more and variety.

Avoid this place like the plague! 7w across the street has a much better menu, better atmosphere, and is clean. Try the Greek food cart on the corner if you need a great quick meal. Also, Towson Hot Bagel two blocks up is, in my opinion, far superior in terms of cleanliness, customer service, and above all, food quality. I won’t go back to Jakes and I recommend you don’t either!

Nice little deli in downtown Towson. Serves breakfast and lunch. I stopped here to get some lunch to go and ordered their Italian cold cut sub. It was pretty decent and was a reasonable sized sub. The staff were all nice and were pretty quick with my order. This is probably a great spot for those who work in the downtown Towson area, I would definitely come back again if I was in the area.

Great place, I work in the building and come here regularly for lunch and sometimes breakfast. Breakfast sandwiches are great, and the chicken salad and shrimp salad are solid too. I recommend.

I frequently order from here and they are always consistent. What I especially love is the breakfast. A lot of places don’t have a lot of healthy choices, but they have quite a few egg white choices. I just enjoyed some fresh fruit, egg whites and multigrain flat bread for 3 dollars and some change. You can’t beat that in an area where Towson businesses are usually overpriced. UPDATE: I loved this place at first. I’ve change my review from 5 to 2 because they frequently make mistakes and the staff can sometimes be really nasty for no reason. Food is cold often and they barely give any eggs on egg sandwiches. It feels like they put a half an egg on it. It’s paper thin. I’ve decided not to eat at this place anymore. UPDATE: I know it’s hard to believe, but they’ve gotten even worse. I’ve now changed my review to 1 star. Abysmal. They are almost always rude over the phone when you place an order and most of their food looks re-fried and unsanitary. Bacon is like beef jerky and homefries are dark and look old. SMH. Get your act together or you won’t last much longer in Towson.
