Very much enjoyed the meal here I had the Ensalada Tropical paired with the rojo sangria and a bean and cheese Papusa. My boyfriend enjoyed the sopa de res, which had yucca, carrots, cabbage, beef in a tasty broth. This was our first time here and there are several other items on the menu we will be back to try. Service was friendly and attentive. Thumbs up from us!

I was starving and up for some good food and found myself here tonight. It’s larger inside than it looks from the outside. It’s in a little strip mall, so not exactly an impressive location but don’t let that fool you. We were seated immediately and attended to very quickly. The servers were attentive, very pleasant and helpful when asked about selections. Can’t say enough good things about them. I had the meal with plantains, one papusa(your choice of meat, chicken, cheese, beans and /or veggies) and an avocado salad. The salad was fresh, crisp and delicious. The avocados were just ripe enough and the salad also included some cheese tomatoes and black beans along with romaine lettuce. I really enjoyed it. The plantains were mildly sweet, firm and yummy. And the papusa was very tasty. They have lots of other selections besides papusas but those are a must try. I will definitely return.

Lots of room for seating. Great pupusas. Very filling portions. I do have to say that this eatery comes up when I search on Unilocal for a certain type of meal that is not from El Salvador. I checked in person anyway, but glad to know this is a great place to come for our pupusas cravings.

Delicious! Being Salvadorean I know what authentic taste likes and this is definitely authentic Salvadorean cuisine– except for the veggie pupusas lol there is no such thing however I admire their ability to adapt in order to cater to a larger audience. All of the dishes we tried, pupusas, platano frito aka fried plantains, yucca, etc were amazing. My one and only complaint is lack of consistency, if I order a dish I expect to get the same thing next time I order it. The first time I was there I had the yucca and chicharron with cabbage salad and our second visit we ordered the same dish however the chicharron meat was cooked differently and didn’t taste the same, it wasn’t bad by any means it’s just not what I expected. Other than that, good food, good service and good prices.

This place is awesome! Being from the Mission I know my pupusas and the pupusas here are amazing, not too doughy or too cheesy just the perfect amount. The place is clean and the service is great I would totally recommend this place. Oh and the fries Yuca and chicharron is delish.

Food was delicious but a little on the pricey side. I love pupusas and their fruit drink that they serve. They also have a kids menu which is definitely a plus in my book. The waitress was friendly and provided great customer services. will definitely have to return and try other items off their menu.

Platano brings a bit of El Salvador to this area. Nice clean place with friendly staff a very delicious food. My yucca frita didn’t have as much chicharrones as I expected, but delicious nonetheless. Their salads, out this world. I’m a repeat customer.

Fantastic! I love the revuelta con frijoles, beef and cheese, chicharron and queso pupusas. With the revuelta con frijoles, you can’t really tell there’s pork, because its mixed in well with the beans but it is something beauitful. I also obsess over the avocado salad. Amazing blend of flavors and the cilantro dressing is superb. I love the fried yuca as well as the casamiento. This is a great gluten free option for my kids and I. Seriously, never disappoints and I have brought several new people here who are now obsessed. I also love that they source local ingredients. Café platano is perfection!

I love this place I find myself calling ahead during the day to pick up to go, weird when a room full of the white collar republican type(rotary club) reserves the whole restaurant. Throws the vibe off instantly but none the less this place is on point!

I’m reviewing as I’m eating right now. Best papusas and plátanos hands down. Absolutely amazing. I would drive well out of my way just to eat here.

Las pupusas estan demasiado gruesas y no son ni redondas la verdad han bajado mucho la calidad.

The best pupusas I have had in the Central Valley. Coming from the Bay, this place is definitely on point. The yucca and chicharron were not too salty or hard. The perfect balance between crispy outside and soft inside. The pupusas revueltas… DELICIOSO! And the staff were very nice and friendly. We will definitely be coming back for sure.

This is a must-go to place in Tracy when craving for pupusas and tamales. Refried beans are good too. Have to come back to try other dishes. Portions and prices are reasonable.

OHMYGOODNESS!!! This place was amazing! We had the sweet white corn tamales so fresh and delicious! Queso pupusa to die for!!! Taste like a quesadilla but better! The carne asada had so much flavor and was tender! I’m Mexican and ventured out to try this place and it was the best decision we made! Definitely coming back here for more!

I honestly was thinking that this restaurant was going to be a «meh» meal, but I was proved wrong. I ordered two Pupasas and they came in less than five minutes, with a side of cabbage salad and a lightly spicy salsa sauce. The Pupasas were SO flavorful and went greatly with the salsa it came with. I decided to order some Seafood Soup, which had Tilapia, Calamari, Shrimp, Shelled-Mussels, and Octopus, which came with a side of rice, along with two tortillas. It took about 20 minutes, but was worth the wait. The Tilapia was nice and tender, the Calamari tasted great, the shrimp was soft and shelled, and the rice was delicious with or without the sauce. The only thing I had a problem with was the Octopus. Unlike many other restaurants, the Octupus was a sliced up tentacle. Nothing wrong with that, but when I tried to eat it, I just couldn’t chew it up. I was too chewy, so I tossed the rest of the tentacles on the side of my plate. But aside from that, the last part of my meal was great– the Platanos. Fried Plantains with a side of sour cream. They were by far, one of the greatest desserts I have ever had at a restaurant of any kind. The service was great, and when I finished my meal, a waitress immediately took it away. Overall, I say that the food is great and the service is great!

I’m all about trying new food, this was my first go at Salvadoran cuisine. Our waiter was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. Not really knowing what to expect with the food, she brought over a little picture book that showed each one of their dishes! I will admit, as others have said the wait for the food to come is a little longer(25 minutes?), but that tells me it’s being made fresh, and boy was it worth the wait. I forgot what I got, but with was a delicious pan fried shredded beef with egg and peppers dish. The last bite was as good as the first. I can’t wait to go back here. My partner got the Pollo Asado, which he said was really good but there could have been more of it. The casamiento was very good. The dishes weren’t piled with salt as I often find with similar dishes, they stood on their own very well. The pupusas I had them bring us 4 random ones to get a feel for them, I definitely think I’ll be going with the pork/cheese/bean ones next time, delicious! I’m not sure if it’s traditional to eat the pupusas with your meal, but I would have liked the pupusas brought out as a sort of appetizer.

Came here for lunch. It’s a quaint but busy little restaurant. There is plenty of seating and everything was clean. We ordered the papusa lunch special and a pan con pollo with yucca as the side. Food came out quickly and looked amazing. What was even better is that the food is amazing! It was fresh and tasty. The portion size was nice for the price. I will definitely be a return customer!

So happy that there’s a Salvadoran place in Tracy! The first time I visited was after a long day of commuting from San Francisco. My mom and I went around 8:30pm, greeted one of the waiters, and looked at the menu to place an order to go. Turned out they were closed at 8! No one told us until we tried to place an order. And it didn’t help that their was no sign indicating their hours. A week later, they posted their hours, and we got to place our order. We ordered the ensalada tropical and three pupusas. They were delicious! I especially enjoyed the cilantro dressing with the salad. And the curtido and salsa that came with the pupusas were also scrumptious. Café Plátano is open very early in the morning, which is why they close early at night. Get there early when you can!

Impressed! Food was great and I can’t wait to try again! My minor small complaint was that they got my order wrong and it was to go, but what I did get was good!

This review is strictly for the atole only. The atole was not«authentic» at all! To begin with I paid 7 bucks for two small/med drinks that were not filled up to the top. next the texture of the atole wasn’t like it’s suppose to be like. Their atole had to much cinnamon and it was like hot water. It overpowered the taste a sweet corn, which is what ATOLE should be. Next, never in my life have I drank atole without a real corn to the side of it. If you ate looking for AUTHENTIC atole the is not the place. The bay area offers greater atole than this. My review might change based on their pupusas.
