Horrible!!! Now I see why it’s only ranked two stars… NEVER again will we eat at Musashi’s. The older woman who«owns» this place is the rudest business owner I’ve ever met; she yells at her staff and customers. She holds up service to the patrons because she’s so busy putting down the waitresses. We also came to Musashi’s tonight to celebrate a birthday and at the entrance there is a sign that states you get your meal for free on your birthday with ID. Well, guess what… no free meal unless you order 4 regular adult meals. We ordered 3 adult meals, 1 child’s meal, tempura shrimp, and 6 sushi rolls, a total of $ 255!!! When we tried making sense of this and asked the owner to show us where it says you have to order 4 adult meals he said its on the sign(which it’s not), and he told us he doesn’t care if we ever come back. He doesn’t have to worry about that because we never will!!!

What rude owners, from the beginning to the end. We had a 5:00 pm dinner reservation, and the woman was so rude(the owner). She didnt seat us until after. The sign says free birthday dinner with i.d. and we spent $ 255. They refused to give the free birthday dinner and. said they could care less whether we came back or not. It was my nieces birthday and she never received her free birthday dinner. The server and cook was good BUTTHEYARESORUDEANDCOULDCARELESS, PLUSLIE! This is the absolute WORST restaurant ever! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! Food was terrible, service was terrible, management was terrible! Beware coming here! I pride myself in good customer service and they do NOT have it here except for the chef! The girls didn’t even know what filet mignon was? Really?! I’m only putting the one star because I have to, it doesn’t give me the option to not put a star! THUMBSDOWN is what they get from me!

The last couple of times I was here I ordered some type of sashimi plate. Both times they looked dark in color, almost grey and it tasted kind of sour and fishy. I went with my boyfriend around dinner time and it was only us sitting in the dining area. It was pretty slow, so why did the service take so long? I should’ve made them take it back and get me another one, but I decided not to because I wouldn’t be hungry again after making me wait another 40 minutes. I ended up eating only a couple slices of my sashimi and some of my boyfriend’s meal which was okay. Oh I should also mention that when we were waiting for our food, I heard a microwave buzzer go off from the kitchen. A MICROWAVE? Were they just heating up our food with a microwave? If you’re going to use a microwave, at least put it way in the back so your customers don’t hear it go off. Yknow, be secretive about it. Don’t give me a reason to prove that your food is old. Atmosphere, service seats and table(sticky), and food = Disgusting. Thank goodness I didn’t get food poisoning from the sewage sashimi.

DONOTEATHERE! We will never eat here again. We’d like to give it ZERO stars. Or as someone else stated, wish we could give NEGATIVESTARS. We’ve eating here for over 22 years. It used to be 3 to 4 times a year. Slowly but surely it has gone hill just a little at a time. It smells like stale and rancid oil in there. I don’t think they’ve washed the walls in they in over 22 years. Tonight was the last straw. Portions are smaller and everything is just OK. Yes, there are pricey, but you don’t mind paying a higher price if you get quality food and service. We waited an hour for the cook to come and prepare our meal. After 45 mins. we almost walked out. We asked what the hold up was. There was another group who came in after us, but they were served first. They said they only had two cooks and were behind. One chef was cooking what looked like two meals on two grills, maybe some to go. He was also drinking with the patrons as he was cooking for. At the 45 mins. they came to apologize and said it would only be another 10 – 15 mins. I told the owner this was not acceptable and expected some portion of the meal to be comp. Again the food was OK. Not as good as it used to be. They charged us the full price for everything. I told the waitress we expected some portion to be comp because of the long wait. We don’t mind paying for what we get, but we did not get the timely meal we would expect. I explained I would speak with the owner again if she wanted me to. She said she would take care of it. 5 mins. later they send another person to tell us they were very sorry that we had to wait, but they had only two cooks, and they had warned us we would have to wait another 10 – 15 mins. We told her our server was doing her best to keep us happy, but it really wasn’t our problem that they had only two cooks. They need to treat their customers better and keep them happy so that they will return. They just kept saying they had said they were sorry. They wouldn’t budge. We explained we’ve been coming here for years and that we would pay the bill and they will never see us again. That was OK with them. We know it’s hard to run a restaurant business, but this is no way to run a business.

Awful! I will never come here again. Aside from the Christmas decorations STILL up even in the summer. Everything was over priced. The Food quality and taste is unacceptable. And right in the middle of us eating the decided to start mopping with the strongest pine scent. Never going back.

If negative stars could have been given I would have. I waited a bit to write my review so I could calm down … This by far had to be one of the worst experiences ever at a restaurant and we have visited a lot … More disappointing was we were celebrating my nephews 13th birthday and this was his first experience with teppenaki… The strip mall they are located in is run down, dirty and graffiti every where … Guess that should have been our first clue. We arrive a little after 5:30 on Sunday had made reservations earlier in the day. We where seated right away. First thing we noticed was the filthy floors where. The waitress came to take our drink orders everything had to be repeated 4 – 5 times. Soft drinks for kids, 2 glasses of wine, a beer and a glass of water. 5 minutes later she came back with my husbands beer, the kids soda, and two glasses of water(one of the waters was pink and stuff floating in it). She then informs us the wine we wanted they no longer carry — so we said other one will be fine — she tells us they no longer carry any of the 3 red wines listed on the menu. Asked her what they did carry and what where the prices. She walked away, couple minutes later and older lady comes over that was impossible to understand asked her same question with no answer — finally said just bring us two glasses of it and had to repeat it 4 times, she turns to my sister next to me and asks if she wanted wine too? Guess it’s normal for one person to order two glasses at a time. Guess should have know it was going be a pain ordering when every price on menu was whited out and a hand written price put in and 50% said seasonal(if you have that many changes maybe it’s time for new menus). So mind you already a bit irritated and my party was about ready to leave but my nephew was looking forward to it so we stayed. Ordered our food Nephew orders — Musashi Special which is steak and lobster listed on menu … Waitress keeps tells us we don’t have any specials … Point it out directly on menu and she says oh ok. Niece orders — steak & shrimp Sister orders — miso soup and edamame Husband orders — land and sea(steak and scallops) I ordered — land & sea and a spicy dragon roll After 10 minutes the waitress comes back says I sorry I wasn’t aware the sushi chef is unavailable so no sushi and walks away. Look around and 2 other tables have sushi get up to walk outside and calm down a minute and see other side of restaurant where it’s just regular tables 3 – 4 tables with people eating sushi. So guess he was only not available for us. Teppenyaki chef comes out … There is barely room for one chef between the two grills let alone two of them. So he proceeds to repeat our orders to us … Out of 7 people at the table our party plus 2 other guests 3 of the orders were wrong. He corrects then and leaves to get the right items. Returns and begins cooking. He did not interact with the guests very much mainly just keep his head down and cooked(but was a nice guy)… At the end I was surprised to hear him ask for tips have never seen that at a Teppenyaki restaurant before and have been to a few of them. Food was ok but not worth the prices. The house salad had a glob of gritty dressing in the middle of some lettuce and bowl was full of water. House soup was ok but not much flavor. The steaks where about as thick and the quality you would get at Denny’s. My serving of scallops was 3 – 4 full ones and a ½ one. The fried rice was crunchy(steamed rice was undercooked that was used for fried rice). He was a little heavy handed with the salt. While the food was being cooked we flagged down the waitress to order another beer. My husband hold up the Asanti bottle to the waitress and hold two fingers up saying 2 more please. When she finally returns sits the beers down walks away we look and we received Sapparo.(Luckily we liked those too). Chef finished cooking cleans up and leaves … We are finishing our meal and drinks and another waitress begins cleaning everything not asking if we are finished or not, two minutes later there is our check. We notice they will charge you $ 4 more per person if you want fried rice. $ 54 for a small maybe 4 ounce lobster tail and 1″ thick steak. $ 32 for 1″ thick steak and 3 – 4 scallops. I for the life of me have no idea how this place stays in business … But do know they will never receive our business again. The worse part is no one seems to care about the customers.

Went to Musashi’s and it was HORRIBLE!!! It’s always been so good. I don’t know what’s going on??? The flavor of the rice wasn’t on point the chicken was dry and the Sushi was gross!!! I was looking so forward to eating there. It just seemed like the food was old. I’m NEVER going back

Been here many times. In my opinion it is pricey and food is so-so. Husband wanted to go to dinner here tonight and my daughter as well. Not my first choice for dinner but ok. Had a long day at work, really wanted a Michelada but this is a Japanese not Mexican restaurant right? I asked our waitress for a Corona, 2 lemons on the side and asked her to fill a glass with half an inch of Bloody Mary mix. She seemed very confused and came back to tell me they could not do that for me. I asked why and she said they don’t make those. I said well I can’t have a corona and a glass with a little mix? She said no. Ok our bill came to 165 for 3 of us not including tip and you couldn’t give me a glass with half an inch of Bloody Mary mix? She said they couldn’t also because they didn’t know how to charge me for it. Our cook was great and very sweet, but we won’t be back for a while.

DON’T GOTHERE! Worst sushi place ever! I was heading to Johnny’s Diner next door only to find it was closed — so I decided to stop by here(without even checking Unilocal first!). I walked in Monday 7:45pm and there was only one party around a hibachi grill in a separate room. There was no one else in the restaurant, except for a man sitting eating Kentucky Fried Chicken out of a box! Apparently he was the owner or a staff… I obviously looked confused and he prompted me to sit down. I headed to the sushi bar — there was no fish in the sushi cooler… I thought they were closing. A server asked what I wanted to drink and gave me a menu — I ordered a combo Sushi Avenue. I THEN decided to check Unilocal… oh crap, I’m in a bad place already. I decided to stay and see for myself. Oh man… worst sushi ever! I’ve been eating sushi for decades and this place needs to be shut down! I even spit out the eel sushi into my napkin! Everything was horrible! Still left a bad taste in my mouth while writing this review the next day! FORGETTHISPLACEANDMOVEON! Oh and now I know why the owner was eating KFC instead his own food! Screw you!

When we sat down I asked what the specials were and was told that children get a chicken kids meal free — so we asked for that and proceeded to order. Less than 5 minutes later someone else came and asked us to confirm our order and we did. Finally they came and started, the chef wasn’t very talkative and engaging. The fried rice was bland and oily. We ran out of water and tea as well as didn’t get our sushi order. Our waitress never came to check on us. We asked a few other times for the sushi and was told it was coming. Again, someone came to verify the sushi order and said it got lost. We finally got our sushi after we were ready to leave. When we got the bill we were being charged for the kids meal. After talking to 4 people about it, I had to basically argue with the owner to take the kids meal off the bill. She just kept telling me that the deal isn’t on holidays and the waitress was new. I kept expressing to her that I clearly asked what the specials were before ordering and that is what she told me therefore I shouldn’t have to pay for it. She finally took the kids meal off my bill but never apologized for anything! Horrible customer service and the food wasn’t even mediocre. Very disappointing when you pay $ 125 for that on Mother’s Day!!!

Never knew this place has been in Tracy for years. Nice ambience and good food. Drink Service, well we had a brand new waitress that’s all I need to say. Our chef was awesome made up for the drink service. It’s the same concept that of Benihana’s. We tried the spicy Dragon roll — that was DELISH ! Salad and soup okay. Good portions

So this was our first and LAST time coming to this place. We decided to come here to celebrate my husband’s job transfer closer to home and since ut was recommended by quite a few we decided to try it out. Pretty excited to try this place as we love teppanyaki’s. My husband and I got the special for 2 ppl(an entrée of choice for each, steam rice, shrimp appetizer, veggies, soup and salad) for $ 26.99…Not bad right?!? We also ordered a hibachi chicken kids meal($ 11.99), veggie tempura($ 5), california roll and we all upgraded to a hibachi chicken fried rice($ 3.50) and an extra one for my babies to share. Prices not bad and we were excited to try the place out. Ambiance: was alright. The restaurant only had one other family there. should’ve been a sign. Atmosphere: casual. nothing fancy Waiter: was kind of slow. actually, he was slow. and he bever came back to offer refills on drinks or anything. SMH. Food/show: was ok. Benihana is WAY better! We asked for our steak to be medium and we got well done. They tried to copy Benihana but nothing can compare. flavor was not all that. Show was kinda boring too. Took us about 20 – 30 for us to get a cook. remember there was only 1 ither family in the restaurant and they were finishing up. Now, here is the kicker. so we get our bill and some prices were off. Not by much but that isn’t the point. For example, they were charging us $ 4 for the rice when it said $ 3.50 on the menu and veggie tempura was $ 6.50 instead of the $ 5 advertised. Over charging us but again, not by much and still a NONO. My husband was fine paying it but i wanted them to be aware that that is false advertisement. So i bring the bill to the register, open up the menu and waited for the guy. I showed him the bill and compared to the menu. His response, «uh, well because you guys upgraded to the hibachi rice and we charge $ 4 for an upgrade.» I responded, «Well, that doesn’t make any sense. We only upgraded 3 of the 4 but you’re going to charge us the same price for all? And what about the tempura?» «Well see we just changed our prices», he says. I told him that this was our first time here and i wasn’t pleased with the food, service or false advertisement. We didn’t get an apology nor did he fix the bill. I told him that place was ridiculous and a joke. So, NEVER again. I’d rather drive the 20 – 30 min to Benihana in Walnut Creek for better service and better tasting food. Rant over.

This place is in need of a major remodel. It seems a little dirty and dark inside… Chef was very entertaining, but the food was okay. With the prices they have their plates going for, you pretty much expect a 5 star rating on the food. This place has a lot of potential, it’s the only restaurant(that I know of) in Tracy with a Benihana type of feel… Word of advice to this restaurant… Invest in yourself and you’ll find yourself with more regular customers!

I have been coming here since 2000, and the last time I came here when visiting family the quality and portions have gone down(fried rice, miso soup, and salad is good still) and hiked up the prices. Noah has been our favorite cook, and recomend having him if you can. Overall, I’m not going back. Very dissapointing that the restaurant has gone to shit.

NEVEREATHERE! I don’t know where to begin so let’s start with the cleanliness… Or should I say lack of. The tables were so sticky the sleeves of my sweater were sticking to the table. The walls and mirrors were grimy and covered in dirty grubby smuges, reminded me of what my Windows look like after I take my dog in the car. The service was horendiou, over 15 minutes to be greeted and asked what we would like to drink… Almost an hour and a half to receive our rolls, and our entire table didn’t even get their food together. The rolls came out 10 – 30 minutes apart. Half our table was completely finished before the other half even got their food. We had to ask for utensils, soy sauce, extra plates, refills because our server wouldn’t check on us. Okay now let’s get to the food… If I’m paying $ 10-$ 12 a roll I expect a large decently presented roll. NOPE. Tiny, sloppy unevenly cut rolls. The rice was sloppy wet and fell apart. The cucumber or what that consider a cucumber was down right disgusting. I had to pull it out so I didn’t gag. The grab was so fake. I could have bought better imitation crab at my local safeway. Every roll was warm and smelled of old fish. Nothing was fresh! I couldn’t eat more than a few bites. In all honesty the best thing I had there was my tap water with lemon. We spent $ 52 and it was utterally disappointing. We passed a taco bell on the way home and we actually considered going and getting food, but we all had lost our appetites. If you enjoy awful food and the worst service known to man then this is the place for you.

This USED to be one of the best places in town. Have enjoyed it for 20 years. I have to say, the past few times we went to this restaurant food portions have gotten noticeably smaller, the food service has declined no more hot towels for your hands sauces are different just very disappointing. I literally was poured a glass of wine instead of a full glass. It might be the last time we visit this restaurant. So sad.

For starters, the server was really sweet but her uniform/attire was filthy dirty. Give that girl a new uniform to wear and have it cleaned regularly. The chef was nice, but he can’t cook and he can not do a volcano, he lit the entire thing on fire. He must have used an entire bottle of soy sauce on each entrée. The food was awful. I was supposed to get a Lobster tail and instead I got 3 crumbles of something that was the size of the top of my thumb and he said it was my lobster. It did not look or taste like any Lobster I have ever had. Scary. This place was a rip off. I’m only giving it one star so I can make this comment but it does not even deserve 1 star unless they want to apply to their nice personality. They rushed through the Japanese Birthday song as if they were trying to get us out of there so they could go home(we were first reservation when they opened at 5pm). The chef was very late. They have the Birthday person rub a Japanese Dolls head and then their own tummy, I do not believe this is a Japanese custom? This place was a joke! I feel like I should get my parties money back. I would never go back and highly suggest you skip this place. So disappointed, after driving for 3 hours round trip to go to this place. BOTHTHUMBSDOWN!

YUCK just YUCK. Hole in the wall dirty sticky dark establishment. I’d hate to see what the kitchen looks like. Heed everyone’s warning!!! Don’t waste your money or time! The food isn’t even good it’s all cooked with this dirty looking«garlic butter» that they just throw on everything so you have greasy buttery food. The tables and chairs are so sticky and disgusting, my friends sons high chair hadn’t been wiped down in who knows how long. The service was whatever, unorganized kids trying to hard to be attentive, probably because they see these terrible reviews. The worst part is the rip you off.25 bucks for a shrimp plate and you have to pay 3.75 extra for fried rice!!! So you end up spending about $ 40 bucks on one person for this disgusting sloppy mess! My recommendation is drive 15 minutes extra to SUMOINLIVERMORE! It’s delicious!!! The food and atmosphere is fresh and enlightening, the prices are fair and the service is great. Overall it’ll have you coming back and telling your friends!
