Well, the City of Tracy had it’s 24th Annual, Fall Wine Stroll on Saturday, September 29, 2012. Like the previous three years, this event was again hosted by the Tracy Center City Association and NOT the downtown merchants of Tracy. Here’s what the the local newspaper, the Tracy Press printed on September 27, 2012. Two days prior to the wine stroll: «A downtown business group expects hundreds of visitors will sample regional wines and see what retailers in the city’s historic center have to offer during the 24th annual Fall Wine Stroll on Saturday, Sept. 29.» «Maragos, who runs the Tracy Inn, expects nearly 1,500 people will make it downtown for the stroll scheduled on a Saturday instead of a Friday in hopes of bringing more people to the event.» 1,500 people? It was more like 400. A total bust and possibly a waste of time for some of the downtown merchants who hoped to cash in by staying open late. Tracy Center City Association, please fix what you have broken. Or, return the wine stroll to it’s original owners so they can clean up the mess you have made.

This was also my first wine stroll, and I must say it such a great way to boost the local economy. The downtown area of Tracy is usually empty, and I hope this boosts the business down there. This Fall 2010 wine stroll was $ 25 if you bought the ticket early, $ 30 up front. Most of the stores are open with at least 2 options for tasting. There are also a few outside booths for wine tasting. Many of the stores are also handing out free stuff. I got a free World Market tote bag and a few samples from the local salons. All and all, I had a good time. (And if there are any grammatical or spelling errors, I apologize because I’m still feeling the effects of the stroll =p)

This was my first wine stroll and yes i will be back next year. You purchase a wine glass for $ 20-$ 25 and all of the(32) businesses are serving a different wine for you to sample with appetizers. There were also some local catering services serving food samples while listening to live music.
