I was with Kaiser for years and had a sudden change of coverage & I needed a doctor because I was having some really bad nerve pain. This doctor happened to be near by, and had a good review, plus accepting new patients so I went to see him. Oh wow did he judge me! I was having pain, and he suggested some meds, with no other suggestions other than a blood test, so I asked for Tylenol 3. Then he went on a rant about how a doctor in the building lost his license because the doc wouldn’t give this lady any more pain meds, so this lady went to the DEA and filed a complaint. Then he sighed and wrote the script and said«don’t expect me to give you refills all the time.» Before I met with him I heard him say to another patient that he will write her a script for vicodin, and he called it out to his medical assistant. He seems to leave the doors open. So no privacy there. I went back a month later for a follow up in my blood work. His rude medical assistant said my weight out loud and made a comment about me gaining weight. I waited for a while, and he seemed to be in a friendly mood. I could hear everything because yet again he left the doors open. He suggested to the guy next to me that he was due for a colonoscopy, and that guy was not thrilled about that. When he got into my room he shut the door behind him, and started to rant about the Tylenol 3. I don’t know why, I was just there because he asked me to come back to discuss the blood work in a month and that’s it! Then he said that people from Hayward come to see him and ask for pain meds. Wait??? What??? I went back to Kaiser, and will stay a Kaiser Member forever! No rants, and solution to my pain fixed.

15 years as my primary medical doctor… Yep… That’s what Dr. Zach has been to and for me… And let it be known that I will fire an MD just as quickly as a bestie if they ain’t pulling their weight and doing right by me. Began seeing him back in 1998 after being recommened to him from my at the time newlywed husbands aunt… Knowing full well that she was even pickier than I am which is no small feat to accomplish I decided to give him a go and well he’s been stuck with me ever since. Well all these years later the husband and aunt are finito but Dr. Zach still remains which is saying alot. Here’s what I love about my doc which btw now that I have moved over 2.5 hours away from I now have the painstaking mission of finding his replacement which I honestly, am dreading… SO here goes… LOVEABOUTDR. Zach ~ To date, he has diagnosed more crap wrong with me than any other doc. Now that’s not to say that I’m one busted up hot mess BUT I do run myself hard n forget to check the dip stick as often as I should running myself down on occasion and opening myself up to illnesses that are fixable… So far. ~ I tell him what I think is busted and he listens to me. Then after doing that he uses the skill set he went to school for and ALWAYS always always thoroughly orders if need be ALL the necessary tests he believes I need and the like. He’s super thorough and I love that. ~ He DOESNOT always require an office visit for routine refills and stuff that has a history of ailing you. Again rather rare in this day and age where just for call to the office and to pick up the phone they want to charge you a fee. Which reminds me… I have an ex-dermatologist to review as well… ~ He keeps decent office hours open a good 4 days out of the week. ~ And last but definitely not least he doesn’t drag his heels when a referral to an outside source; IE: specialist is concerned. That’s another area that I notice far too many medical providers lack: They take it personal if they can’t «fix» you themselves and can damn near kill you trying to diagnosis you themselves BEFORE finally giving in and sending you onto another for consultation. WHAT I DISLIKEABOUTDR. Zach: ~ He tends to run behind aka: late on his appointments. HOWEVER the reason which I know first hand is because he’s so damn thorough as I’ve been given the stink eye on more occasion than I can even recall from the girls in the office. And I adore them too as they bust my balls for the fact that after he’s done seeing me he’s now late for the next patient. But I can live with it as its business. He provides a service for money; IE: job security. I have held off finding a new primary doc for the last two moves taking me 2+hours round trip away from him in order to keep seeing him but I’m afraid the move to Sacto is the magic number 3 move that’s just too far for me to now travel to see him… Damn… And so the search commences… Final Grade: A+ ~ The End ;)~
