Went here for the first time on a cold snowy Sunday night. Weren’t expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Attentive service and some really yummy food. Drink list leaves something to be desired. Perhaps a better place to get share small plates than choose a single entrée. The curry muscles were worth going back for, the ahi tuna was okay, but not great. Dessert list looked good, and the carrot cake delivered(although it could have used raisins) as well as the chocolate oblivion. Would have liked to give it a very solid 3.5 stars, but Unilocal won’t allow it.

Food was okay. Mash potatoes tasted like chlorine and way too much garlic. The chicken broccoli pasta was also very cheesy and lacked in taste. We had a big group and when the waitress was asked to split up the bill, her response was«oh fuck». Very unprofessional and disappointing. First time here and will never come back again.

A delicious restaurant for foodies! I love everything I’ve had there and dream of a quick return. I’d go more often, but the service is nonchalant at best and I always have to rush full speed back to work to only be a few minutes late.

Wish I can go back here. Had root vegetable pot pie and it was crazy good. I believe it’s a new item they had added on their menu. Very rich and creamy. Hubby had Parmesan whitefish which he say was yummy. Side of mashed potatoes was good as well. Waitress was helpful with suggestions.

Five stars because these service was exceptional! The food was out of this world. My husband had the lamb ragu the sauce was superb it tasted so fresh. I had the warm mushroom spinach salad it was delish. I felt like it didn’t need the dressing. We ended our meal with the tiramisu so creamy and sweet. I would definitely return.

I love this restaurant! They always have great food at VERY reasonable prices, considering the quality of food you receive. I’ve never ordered a dish that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. I enjoyed their Greek Quinoa salad followed by the Mediterranean Parmesan from their vegetarian menu. I am not vegetarian, and am generally skeptical of vegetarian dishes, but I have always thoroughly enjoyed every vegetarian dishes that have been served to me from Poppycocks. My wife ordered the Mango Curry, also from the vegetarian menu, and graciously allowed me to sample her entrée. I would probably order this on our next visit. My son enjoyed the Harvest Chicken Confit, which I have also ordered and enjoyed in the past. The drinks from the bar are delicious. I love a good bourbon Manhattan, and Poppycocks never disappoints. You will find yourself torn between their tasty drink menu and their healthy wine and local craft beer menu. Just another reason to live this establishment. Enjoy!

While wine tasting, we asked some locals where they’d recommend eating. They said Poppycocks doesn’t get as much fanfare as other places, but it’s a solid option. I’d agree. We began with the pita chips appetizer($ 11). This was great. They come dusted with grated cheese and three dipping cups — melty cheese, spicy salsa and hummus. Outstanding. We also ordered the tomato soup. While the soup was just okay, it came with the most incredible dinner roll ever. Super chewy and fluffy. I ripped off chunks of the roll and dipped it in the soup. Amazing. I could have eaten that all night long. I was disappointed in my entrée, though. I got the Honey Chipotle Brisket($ 24) [Slow braised beef brisket served with a honey chipotle pan jus, red pepper pesto, sweer potato fries and sautéed vegetable.] The honey made everything way too sweet. While the brisket was nice and tender, the sauce was kind of vile. I would definitely return to Poppycocks and try another entrée. The outstanding appetizers lead me to believe there’s more goodness on the menu.

.yum. Amazing food. Great cocktail bar. Vegan, vegetarian, and GF items designated on menu. Something for everyone here, including kids. Everyone left satisfied. Fresh, warm vegan bread brought to the table at seating. Fresh-brewed iced tea(not fountain!) was flavorful! Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Highly recommended.

Sadly, my unlikely 17-year-long interest in the Front Street salad here is no longer. The supporting elements ranging from the goat cheese to the dried cherries to the lemon cherry dressing remain strong, but the chicken is baffling. It used to have a smoked vibe but now, supposedly a «cherry jalapeño glazed» chicken breakfast, it has little flavor and was a bit burnt. But Poppycocks still has some good moves. Just the mere act of offering a soup sampler impresses. This one included the«famous» tomato spinach Swiss along with what I think was tomato gorgonzola(I heard«something» gorgonzola and was too tired to follow up). Best of all was the Reuben soup. The next day I returned for the portabella stack. One need not be a vegetarian to be hooked in by descriptions like roasted garlic custard and zucchini farro cake. This offered a variety of flavors and textures that added up to a good reminder that plant-based food doesn’t have to stick to Dogma 95 austerity.

You know your in safe hands when a restaurant gives you fresh out of the oven rolls! Dear lord the bread they give you when you sit down puts your grandmas recipes to shame ! But let’s move on from the bread. The pasta here is delicious too! They have a great wine list with a lot of local wineries. The ambiance is casual and friendly with cool paintings on the walls!

Dropped into this gem of a restaurant while passing through Traverse City. Our great waitress Ivy was knowledgable and accommodating to our dietary restrictions. The ambiance was really artsy and local which complemented the fresh, local and amazing food so well. Coming from California I was craving fresh, yummy food. The Mango, Strawberry, Avacado salad with goat cheese was so fresh and delicious and adding the grilled chicken just roped it off so well. My husband had the special polenta with grilled chicken added and it was a great combination too. Absolutely recommend for ambiance, food and service.

After doing two laps around Traverse City’s main artery downtown, my mom and I finally settled on lunch at Poppycocks. It’s very classy in its setting and I thought it would be expensive, but I found it to be very reasonable for what you get. Our server Kaitlyn recommended my wine and did a wonderful job doing so, based on what I told her I liked. I had a sandwich, the name of which I don’t remember(it wasn’t ‘sand’ as the aforementioned would imply) but the meat on it was fantastic: flavorful, juicy and cooked perfectly. I can’t remember what my mom had which makes for a shallow Unilocal review but suffice to say, she too thought highly of her meal. I’d definitely eat here again in the future. Next time, I’ll remember to write down exactly what I ate and photograph it as well.

Though the grilled cheese I ate was acceptable, with a nice balance of cheese/pesto/and tomato, the service was so slow and the portions were disappointing. I ordered half a grilled cheese and a cup of soup, so I was expecting a small meal. The rest of my party, however, was surprised by how little food showed up at the table. We left hungry, and disappointed with the flavors.

There are times when the body craves a specific meal. Spending several days eating fish n chips, surf and turf, and fish etc, all I wanted was a salad w/chicken. To start, the ambience is casual, but classy. All the waiters/waitresses were dressed in black but very personable and eager to serve(my water must’ve been refilled at least a dozen times). I was happy to see that they did in fact have a chicken salad on the menu. The chicken was super tender and juicy, and the salad was fresh with light dressing. Would definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking to get a tasty meal!

This was a wonderful last meal for us in Traverse City. After living here for 9 months(during the whole winter!) We often walked by Poppycocks, and I had heard wonderful things from the locals, besides that it was ever so slightly over priced. However, upon arriving and experiencing the incredible service and the wonderful selection(from food, to beverages, to appetizers — no pallet would be leaving unsatisfied!) I found the price to be quite reasonable. I tried the special which was a delicious pasta dish with a mushroom garlic aïoli sauce, with the baked chicken. It was so wonderfully delicious — the flavor was beautiful, the chicken was not the slightest bit dry, and the portion was absolutely huge! My husband tried a special sandwich(with turkey and avocado) and i loved it. It was fresh tasting, the flavors complimented each other so well, and the experience was fantastic! Our server was so knowledgeable, helpful, and accommodating. I will refer this place to everyone who visits Traverse City, and I hope to return soon and experience more delicious eats and drinks here :-)

Friendly staff and tasty food! Unique twists on most items and and extensive wine and beer list. I had the crème brûlée which was very delicious! It’s served with a raspberry drizzle on the plate…(drooling noises)…

I stumbled across this restaurant on a whim. My little cousin needed a bathroom, and this place was open. I just wish the food could have been better. By far the best part of the meal was the banh mi fries. Certainly something new and a good combination of flavors. It’s basically everything that’d be on a banh mi dumped on top of sweet potato fries. The main course, however, was mediocre. I had the lamb ragu, which should be a fairly simple dish. Alas, the noodles and the lamb were in fact overdone, something I find unacceptable at the $ 16.50 price point. Perhaps they had an off night…

Ordered lamb ragu and seafood linguini here. The lamb ragu’s pasta were tangled and uncooked. The portions were small for the price. The seafood linguini flavor is bland. Some of the vegetable are not fully cooked. The chairs are super uncomfortable. Overall price is quiet high with the quality of food I get. Total bill came out to be 38 bucks for two entrees Not recommended
