This pains me to write(somewhat) because I’m an Abruzzi fan. Great California turkey cheeseburgers which I get regularly. Still, if you want to patronize here get takeout and not delivery. Last weekend I placed an order(California turkey cheeseburger and a Caesar salad) a little before 9 p.m. that I was told would get to me in 30 – 40 minutes. It’s only a 10 minute drive from Abruzzi to my place. Four things hampered this order: (1) It took around an hour and 20 minutes for my order to arrive. I called the restaurant after a little more than an hour had passed to ask where the driver was and the person who answered at the restaurant didn’t know. He only said that my order should arrive«soon.» (2) When the order arrived the salad dressing had been spilled inside of the bag and got all over the Styrofoam tray that contained my food. Not fun to clean up and, of course, now I didn’t have the dressing that I wanted for my salad. (3) Part of my order was inaccurate. I ordered a Caesar salad but was delivered a CHICKEN Caesar salad. The woman I spoke to at the restaurant when placing my order was told this – «no chicken.» Given that my order was wrong and included chicken, the order cost more than I had anticipated. (4) Given the fact that it took twice the amount of time I was told it would take to get the food to me my California turkey cheeseburger was room temperature upon arrival. Thus, when ordering from here get takeout and check the order before leaving. The food is good(when hot/fresh) but their delivery system needs improvement.

I came here with a great Groupon and well, as always they are hit and miss… and this is a miss. First, it’s super hard to find, it’s in the mall in a corner. I ordered a pizza with«The Works” — which included sausage, pepporoni, onions and mushrooms. The pizza was made fresh, the dough was actually decent, just not delicious. The sauce was really what lacked umpf. There wasn’t enough of it, and it was just ok. I kept hope a live and went for the mild buffalo wings. Well the sauce was like hot sauce in mayo, not spicy at all. There was a decent amount of wings… but every single one of them dry as chalk. And don’t even bother with the garlic knots, they’re equally dry, but flavorless dough. Overall, I’m not interested in returning. Although the place was clean, and staff was friendly and helpful… the food pretty much sucked.

We’ve visited Abruzzi Pizza & Café several times to eat in and take out, and have delivery from them many times in the last several years. The restaurant itself is typical of a NJ italian pizza shop, with the usual long counter with different styles of pizza and garlic knots. The menu is expansive, with most Italian dishes represented. I highly recommend their chicken parmesan over linguine. They also have delicious pizza, made just-about any way you want. Delivery is prompt, prices are reasonable, and the delivery people are always courteous.
