We have been regulars since 2013 especially afgan rice pilaf/naan. Some days it was off days it depends on who was working behind the kitchen, my husband told me he was surprised when he came in to pick up our order, the workers were new people he never saw before and we ordered the chicken gyro. The rice pilaf were different than usual/normal(like it was drenched in or mixed with sauce?) and it was too spicy… we hope it’s temporary and only during Ramadan in which is fine since they can’t taste the food while fasting.

We knew this place was legit from the moment we stepped inside. Big menu board with pictures to help us as it was our first time in an Aghan restaurant. We were a group of 11(one adult and 10 teenagers) in town for the rowing championship. A lot of the guys got the chicken tikka. Big portions of rice and naan, everything was devoured. The yogurt sauce should go on everything. Best hummus I’ve had in a while. We will be back before the weekend is out!

I love this place. This is one of the best cheese steaks I’ve ever eaten. I don’t know what spices they use on their meat, but it’s nice and spicy. The white sauce is fantastic on the cheese steak. I love their bolani kachalou, which I think is an appetizer with potato. The inside is pretty roomy if you’re staying there. They have a 6 or 7 tables(maybe more?) and a couch or two up front. Been coming here for years.

I’m happy to see at least a four star rating, however some of these reviews are asking for too much. I was so elated to find an Afghan food restaurant right in my backyard, that I ordered a ton of food. It’s was a little pricey, but their aren’t a ton of places that offer the same cuisine with counter service within in this immediate area. I haven’t had hummus so flavorful since I last ate in the Paterson area.

So glad to find this place(thanks to Unilocal) on our way up the NJ Turnpike. Delicious food and very kid-friendly. The hummus and falafel are not to be missed. I only wish we lived closer.

Owl pellet looking falafel?! $ 10 =A couple rasins in rice and a grocer’s freezer samosa possibly. The guy cooking was on the phone the entire time. My heart broke bc I just knew based on the reviews this was gonna be great. False. I didn’t even eat more than two bites. The front person on the cash register was very kind but the food… the falafel was sooo crispy and hard :(((not a fan. The restaurant is kind of dark and dreary.

Ok. Four things you need to know. 1. Best hummus I have ever had. 2. Meat Samosas 3. Lamb Gyros 4. That green sauce

Decent place for a quick bite, quality is inconsistent, so you are always guessing if your food is going to be decent, be ready to be surprised. The naan is not really the traditional naan, we ordered the combo#2 which was supposed to have tikka, but instead had a kebab, called them up and were told that they were out of the tikka. How about telling us that instead of just substituting it with something we didn’t want or order. I gave them another chance, oh what a mistake. Lamb was chewy and almost like jerky. Better off going to a drive thru.

I order 2 platter from this place and paid 20 dollars but when open the box only few peaces of burnt meet and naan was missing ! These people over charge for everything I will never go there again… and please don’t go for the pictures on the board ! Food is nothing like that or the quantity as well

Was at sculpture gardens and found this place on Unilocal and was very pleasantly surprised. Kabob was delicious, chicken was juicy, lamb was great, rice was good, and pita was fresh and tasty. Their hummus was amazing and I really wanna know what their secret is to making such amazing hummus. Service is standard for fast food type places but the guys are nice enough. Bathroom clean as well.

Absolutely delicious! Order out here all the time. Although sometimes they run out of masala, but I have plenty of back up entrees that I could get instead, so it’s no big deal. Highly suggest if you’re in the area!

Stopped in for lunch and got the Chapli kabob with rice and salad. Food was pretty good. Loved the spice level in the Chapli, it was pretty intense. It was also a nice alternative to the typical kabob choices you usually get in an Afghan or Middle Eastern spot. Rice was good too, but par for the course, and the salad was primarily lettuce and came with canned black olives and a non descript white dressing. I didn’t even bother with it. I have to note that one of my big pet peeves in restaurants lately is waiting around like an imbecile in a near empty dining room, while workers scramble to prepare a big delivery. We ordered and sat there for nearly 25 minutes while these guys completely neglected our food and us. They didn’t even start cooking it until we inquired about what was up 15 minutes in. For a fast food joint, that’s a bit unacceptable. They really need to better balance service for customers that dine in and those getting delivery.

This is the go to place for kabobs in the Hamilton Township area. The Mediterranean chicken kabob is amazing, it packs a lot of garlic and dances on your tongue. The chicken tikka kabob is also great. The kabobs are served with naan and a long grain rice mixed with carrots and raisins, trust me it works. Oh the hummus!!! It is always delicious and consistent. I highly recommend this place.

WHYDO I LIVESOFARFROMAKG??? This is by far the BEST(!!!) afghan food I’ve had. WAYYYY better than Jahan Kabab in PA and our go to afghan place Kabab Paradise in Lake Hiawatha NJ(sorry but it’s true!!!). Everything from the hummus(I hate hummus btw) to the naan to the sauces to the beef seekh kabab platter was to die for. Seriously. Words cannot do justice to the taste, quality, and quantity of food. To make it even better, the prices are super cheap considering the portions you are getting. Do yourself a favor and eat here any chance you get ;)

I would come here once a week or more if this place were closer to me. That’s how great the food is. They are a 40 minute drive away but it won’t stop me from making the trek just to eat here because I feel they’re totally worth it. I called ahead yesterday to make sure of their store hours since Unilocal and google are sometimes unreliable. We arrived a little after 9:35pm and they were still allowing people to eat in. I ordered the gyro platter and I honestly can’t stop thinking about it. The naan and the rice here are SOGOOD. My boyfriend received another helping of rice since he was enjoying it so much. I finished the meal with their lovely specialty green tea. It was just a really great and unforgettable meal. ALSO. The prices here are so affordable. That in itself is a bonus. It’s true. I sound like I’m deprived. I am. I’m coming from Manchester/Lakehurst where ethnic food places don’t exist and there’s nothing to do for entertainment but stare at walls. Guys, if you ever open up a place in the Toms River/Brick vicinity or any of the areas mentioned, I would SO be there like every single day or as much as my budget allowed. No joke.

3.75 kabobs. And good enough to make me want to try a few other things. I came in for a late lunch takeout, and was the only patron there during this time. I ordered tikka kabobs and I enjoyed the flavor, although the chicken was a bit dry. But that’s what the tzatziki sauce is for. The rice that came with it was possibly the best pilaf of this kind that I’ve ever had. The pita that came with it was just as good. I also ordered chicken samosas and they were extraordinary, a bit on the spicy side and different from what I am used to. I would definitely get these again. It was hot in the restaurant, so my advice would be to do take out during the summer. After trying a few more dishes I might up this to 4 Unilocal. But I do hope people in the area will give them a try.

This restaurant seems unassuming from its exterior, but definitely not to miss! The inside lacks décor, but it’s not a fancy place. Low key and efficient style. I had the lamb gyro platter and it was so much meat! The cooking of the food was a bit slow, but it was worth it. The lamb was really yummy. Paired with the rice and onions and green peppers, it was a hearty lunch. I do wish there was a bit more of the«salad» which was a tiny little bit of vegetables. The white tzatziki sauce they provide you is really addicting as well! My friend had the chicken tikka kabob which looked great, but she had to ask twice for her pita bread that accompanied her meal. However, they made up for it by giving her an entire basket of bread for us to share. Prices are reasonable, food was delicious, would definitely recommend.

Great place! Very friendly and great food. Only went here once because the Afghan Kaboob by my house was closed on Sunday. All of the food had great flavor and I would have given them 5 stars except for only one thing… The bread– I was expecting a pita/naan bread because of how it was cooked… but it was pizza dough made in the naan oven? Worth a try if you are in the area. I suggest you eat in the restaurant

It wouldn’t take much to make Afghan Kabob and Grill on Rt. 33 in Hamilton a five star experience. On the other hand, the afternoon in late July when I was there it was at risk of slipping into three star territory. I arrived solo shortly after a rather large Afghani family was seated at the big table toward the rear. They were very interesting to watch as they greeted the owner and chef, as well as each other. Some were in traditional garb with heads covered and with long full dress, while others were more assimilated into Western(New Jersey) culture. They were slow taking their seats, and even slower ordering their meal as each wanted a prolonged discussion with the cook about how he prepared the dishes. All I wanted was a tasty exotic lunch. I walked up to the cashier where the ordering took place. I went with Chicken Kofta, Rice, and Salad. I figured most of those parts were at least partially made in advance, and it would reach me quickly. Afraid not! These folks must have been the chef’s family, as he became absorbed in his interactions with them, and slowly put together each meal and served it personally. I appreciated the attention they were getting, but I had to return to work sometime that day. Ten lunches were prepared with one pair of hands, while the rest of us who came after could only choose to cancel our order, or just enjoy the show. I went with the later, as I really had no time to go anywhere else, and had no clue when my meal would be presented. Thirty minutes or so later, I was served a steaming plate of wonderfully spiced Ground Chicken Kofta and a large pile of tender and delectable dark long rice. A basket of lightly crisped Naan came along for the ride. Yes, it was worth the wait. The room also lacked air conditioning, although there were several ceiling fans gallantly pushing hot air around on this 90+ day. Fine beads of sweat accompanied every bite. To make it more pleasant, I found myself imagining that this was how it was in Kandahar every day. I should be thanking them for the authenticity of the experience. So, I left mildly amused, rather than annoyed, and resolved that I would definitely be back, but most likely in cooler weather when the Kush is snow covered and everyone has to wear their woolies.
