We try to go here about once a week with our friends. It’s the perfect local tavern for us. Anna always takes good care of us! The bar food(wings, appetizers, etc.) are amazing and we often come just for buffalo chicken salads. The shrimp bisque is also a favorite when it rotates around. I would say the larger entrees tend to run on the heavier side with butter/salt which isn’t my preference but they are obviously high quality. We just love the salads and sandwiches though and it’s one of the best burgers in town(especially when they have the neuske bacon!) The boneless garlic wings with tots are also a favorite in our group. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxing. Highly recommended!

The service here is always excellent even when they are busy and that’s huge to me. But that’s about as good as it gets here. The food is not so good. Edible but not enjoyable. Beer selection is limited. Not much for drink specials. The worst part is the late night crowd. I work late and this bar is very close to home but I choose further bars because the late night crowd is young and very rowdy. If you like the college feel it’s perfect for you but certainly not for me. Almost every late night I’ve spent here there is a fist fight or near fist fight and security seems just as immature and ready to fight as the drunken patrons.

Gluten free folks rejoice!!! I tip my hat to this place for the amazing effort they make for gluten free people. My little family of three is all(medically) gluten free. My two year old is VERY sensitive to cross contamination. They were very helpful when it came to identifying the items that could potentially have cross contamination and those that were prepared separately. The proof is always in the pudding though… and no on had any kind of reaction! …even the few fries we let our girl have did not bother her! Thank you thank you thank you so much! Up until we found this place, we were convinced our girl would never be able to enjoy a meal out with her mom and dad. Did I mention the food is really good too and the menu is marked«GF» next to such items? They also have GF beer! Woohoo! This is our new favorite place!

I’ve been in here a few dozen times, and it wasn’t because I didn’t like it. It’s a unique place in which the restaurant caters to the elder crowd and the 2 bars cater to the younger bunch. Food is usually very tasty and they have plenty of craft beers. Your dining experience should range from 3.5 to 5 stars, depending on how busy they are and who serves you. Tonight I had a few Golden Monkeys and left. Recommended!

Teetering on the edge of a four-star this time… the pretzel served at the beginning of the meal was gross — soaked in butter.(But hey, I’d be a dick if I took point off for something that’s a freebie anyway, right? :) The meals we ordered were very good, again. Reliable, reasonable(why they get 5 stars from me — I always mark on a curve that considers price), and likeable. We both had seafood, I had clams, mussels and sausage over linguini, wife had some kind of shrimp on risotto. Good portions, tasty. Another W for Bill’s.

A friend and I tried this place out for the first time yesterday and we will definitely be returning. The menu has a lot of great options, many of which are unique. Rebecca was our server and she was great. She was easy to talk to, funny, and did a great job taking care of us. They start you off with some warm pretzels, which were good. We decided to give the Pig Candy a try as an appetizer. It was two nice, thick pieces of bacon glazed with brown sugar. Absolutely delicious! I decided on the Buffalo Chicken Mac ‘n’ Cheese and my friend ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, which was served with fries. Both of our meals were perfect. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The Mac is made with 5 different cheeses and was absolutely incredible! After our meal, we decided to grab some dessert. I kept it simple with the Lava Cake and my buddy got the Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie a la Mode. His special request for chocolate ice cream, instead of vanilla, was taken care of without a problem. I would definitely recommend getting one of their desserts. We were extremely satisfied with our choices. The pricing seemed pretty fair on all the menu items and they do have Happy Hour and specials, which is a plus. I can’t wait to go back again and try out some of their other dishes! Thanks for the awesome meal!

Definitely a must-go-to! My boyfriend has eaten here several times and never had anything bad to say about it. So when it came time to throw is surprise 30th birthday party, this was the perfect place! I was in communications with the owner throughout the process, he was prompt with getting back to me and super helpful! The staff on the day of was AWESOME, we couldn’t have had a better time! EVERYONE who attended raved about how wonderful the food is! We have been back since, and will continue to keep going. Have plans to visit this weekend with friends! I’ll also add that the fried pickles are definitely the BEST we’ve ever had!

I love this place for its unusual variety of foods. You can also get all of your comfort foods as well. The chef is great. They serve warm pretzels before your meal. There soups are out of this world. Very friendly and plenty of parking. My husband loves the mac & cheese because they have many choices such as hotdogs to add to the dish.

This place is amazing. Great service, tons of beer on tap and amazing food! I did not expect the free pretzels they brought too! Just be careful with your burgers. They brought some medium rare burger when they ordered medium well.

The sandwiches we had were good. They were average bar food. The beer selection is not very large though.

Bill’s has a great atmosphere that’s fits perfectly with a beer in hand and some food in your stomach. It’s usually not too crowded here as long as you don’t go during super busy hours on weekends and such. I strongly recommend trying one of the delicious burgers as they are cooked to perfection and come with delicious fries. If you want the best bang for your buck then you should go in during happy hour and try their chicken wings or pulled pork sandwiches.

Eating at Bills for dinner is always strange to me. The owner has put a lot into rehabbing it. I mean, it’s beautiful and really charming inside. However, on weekend nights the clientele changes from the middle aged regulars to a drunken slurry of young locals. Don’t get me wrong… I join that crowd myself on occasion; but if I want to enjoy the high quality meal that I am accustomed to getting at Bills it would be a lot better experience absent the weekenders. If Bills opened up at a larger location with the same style décor and a more peaceful and less cramped atmosphere I would pay 10 to 20% more for their food. It’s that tasty. As it stands if you find yourself grumbling at an early dinner time and want to get the best bang for your buck, go here. The food is reasonably priced and damn good.

Came in on a Sunday and the place was empty. Summer time was upon us so maybe the beach was where everyone was at but expected more of an ambiance to relax in. Ordered the appetizer of pulled pork tacos and they came out quick and were delicious. Would recommend their menu and also coming here on nights

Cam to bills for lunch and the service and food was amazing. The server I had was efficient and ensures my drink was full. The food though. It has been a long time since I went to a restraunt and got to enjoy a home cooked style meal.

Great beer and food. Closest we have to a gastropub in the area. Burgers are always great. Today I had Pretzel Jack Chicken sandwich. Fantastic. I always like how they have Ithaca beer.

Not sure if this place is categorized as a gastropub but I will update it for us Unilocalers. What a fantastic food find for me here. I probably had the best chargrilled burger ever today at Bill’s. The sweet potato fries were fresh and good and everyone else’s meals were outstanding according to my group. Seriously service-oriented staff also to add to the colonial tavern ambience which must be mostly original. With lots of beers on tap and bottle, I would highly recommend this gastronomical tavern!

First time back in Bill’s Olde Tavern in more than a decade, but the historic place still feels like the bowels of a 18th Century sailing ship — low ceilings, dark wood exposed beams, a slight aroma of aging beer in those corners the wet mop can’t reach, and a whole lot of atmosphere to make you forget the date. I sat at the downstairs bar. The HDTVs were into March Madness. I ordered a burger, fries and a hard Irish Cider from a friendly and accommodating lass. It was a very good lunch, with the burger the medium requested, an ample load of potatoes, and a large cool glass of apple cider. At $ 8, the food was a good deal. The $ 5 for the cider put me over my lunch budget for the week, but what the hey?, it was a tasty washdown. The burger was good, but a bit crumbly. Not sure what causes that(freezing or too much compression), but it did not impact the taste once the bar spices and sides where put on top. I left the roll top alone to save a few cals, but otherwise found the experience enjoyable. I will be back to sample more of the lunch menu, and may even find time to stop in après travail to check out the Happy Hour and see if the old sailors show up.

Took the family to Bill’s for the first time. We had the Bill’s sampler to begin our meal. The corn nuggets and potato skins were my favorite. The chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks were just ok. They brought out complimentary hot pretzels which were great. I had the flank steak with mashed potatoes. I was surprised by the fact that my meal was barely warm, truly disappointing. My daughter had the buffalo wings which did not have enough sauce, too dry. Buffalo wings are meant to be messy. My wife’s shepherd’s pie lacked flavor. I really wanted to like this spot, considering I live two minutes away. Sorry Bill’s, don’t think we would go back. I will add that the waitress was great!

Another fine meal. Hubby had the ribeye special. He’s in love. Wants me to figure out how to do an expresso cumin rub. It was accompanied by grilled asparagus and cheddar mashed potatoes. Yum! I had the shrimp and crab royale. Very good. Pasta was al dente. A true pet peeve of mine is mushy pasta. Yuck. This was perfect. Right amount of sauce. Shrimp and crab were fresh. Another hit out of the ballpark!
