Chiarello’s Hamilton Food Market

This place was a great deli but lately there is more lunch meat on a Subway sandwich! At significantly less cost. I hate to bash but I gave them many chances. SORRY

Chiarello’s Food Market is an old-​time Italian deli in a stand alone building on Hamilton Avenue in Hamilton, NJ. The Trenton designation is more a product of historic postal zones, than a geopolitical demarcation.
It is very small inside, but has a surprisingly well provisioned deli area that takes up at least half the space. The public area is crammed with pastas and bottled/​canned goods to assist in preparing a complete meal.
While it seems certain that their lunch and catering efforts are the primary focus of the business, they are also open early in the morning and advertising breakfast options. When I inquired about early day sandwiches (ie., Sausage, Egg & Cheese), I was advised that such nourishment was not available. They did have a few bagels, muffins and pour-​your-​own java for my crowd.
I opted for a Bagel, Butter and Cheese with a small cuppa joe to go. The bagel was clearly not from their oven and was not exactly fresh. The taste was okay, but required extra chewing to get it down. The coffee was that Law brand; clearly offered merely as a convenience without an attempt at truly good café.
Overall, Chiarello’s is not a morning place, but I might return for one of their more auspicious sandwich creations.

The absolute best food in Hamilton, no matter what you order. Have had all my family functions catered by them and often stop in for just a hoagie and complete satisfaction everytime.

We used them to cater a breakfast. They really screwed us on the quantity of food. The food was mediocre at best and luckily we order for 20 people over because what they brought was barely enough to feed the people there. What a waste of money.

I used them last summer to cater my wife’s surprise birthday party. The food was fresh and delicious. Everyone at the party loved the food. I have also tried their sandwiches, spectacular. Keep on serving great food.

Always been a huge fan of Chiarello’s! Solid hoagies on fresh rolls and the potato salad is worth the drive to get. Really great simple hoagies done right

Best catering establishment within the greater Trenton area. They also have a great family-​run deli all served with Boars Head meats. Parking can be tough here, so don’t be afraid to call orders in.

they use good meats, pink roast beef and provolone – my favorite. fresh rolls always, great salads, snacks, lottery and a flatscreen with the game on while you wait. nice area too, very important. the rolls are not the best I’ve had by far, they’re just ok, and they’ve been skimping on the amount of meat lately too. 3 stars, just ok. the reason why anyone would rave about them is because they are on the Trenton/​Hamilton border and there are no really good deli’s around by far, so that’s the only reason they stand out, oh and another thing… IS NOt A MARKEt, It’s small inside, just a deli… that does catering. the word «market» is deceiving. also there is no on street parking so you have to squeeze into a very small lot that can fit 5 cars at lunchtime. Ill definitily take it.

Their hoagies taste as good as Wawa (and waaay better than Quick Check and Subway) but you get more bang for your buck here. Actually you pay slightly less then you would at any of the chain places, and they never skimp you on any ingredients. Everyone working there is always so nice. On the outside just looks like your run of the mill corner store but it’s much more. 5 stars all the way.

This place has the most amazing hoagies. They have good bread and fresh coldcuts. However, the best thing they have at this place is the macaroni salad. Best I have had anywhere. Potato salad is good too. Don’t forget that they do a lot of really good catering too. Any party I have is catered by them

No matter what you call them: submarines, heroes, grinders, po’ boys, or hoagies (my name of choice), Chiarello’s has the best!
The freshest ingredients, the widest variety of choices, the best prices, and the largest portions make this «corner» store the place to beat. My personal favorite: a «full-​size» London Broil with Cooper cheese, onions, and horseradish spread. Yum. My mouth is watering.
