Had an almost perfect stay until we encountered Adam at The Black Rabbit restaurant. Snarky, rude and in need of some customer service training. Or perhaps he has forgotten he works in the service industry. We quickly changed our dinner plans. Kudos to the rest of the staff, job well done!

First visit to Edgefield. Been to other McMenamin’s properties before and this was is just as fun and ingenious. Spacious and so many options with the different bars and restaurants. Had a drink with pear brandy that was so smooth. Bottle of wine was shared and enjoyed by our group. We shared the Fruit Crumble with cherries and the Black & Tan Brownie both with homemade ice cream! Delicious. Definitely already making plans for an extended weekend visit soon

This place is sooo cool! Also– incredibly friendly people work here! We forgot something in our room after we had departed, and they called me up and then offered to ship it to me. They wouldn’t even let me pay for the shipping! Beautiful garden, awesome soaking area, and amazing eggs benedict from the black raven place.

Lovely atmosphere great food and drinks. I think the staff are very friendly and beautifully landscaped. I have been here several times and I just love it. If you want a day living life relaxed with a laid back place… this is it :) It has outdoor summer concerts, several bars and restaurants. It even has a theater. This has an area for events and a spa.

You like your beer? wine? spirits? well, this is the place and a perfect setting to do the imbibe. Book a room cause you won’t want to leave, so have all you want of the above. All has been said and I rather have good things to say as well cause my visit was delightful. Beautiful grounds to walk around and get over the hangover. Something I have to mention… should you choose a room with an «off room» bathroom, don’t fret. On the third floor they have some really nice bathrooms. Every morning I enjoyed my «soakation» in one of the deep claw foot tubs. The bath is large ANDKEPTVERYCLEAN. I see the cleaning crew in there lot. Even if you have a bath in your room, it’s worth to go up to three and and enjoy the tubs.

Such a beautiful place! My sister had her wedding here and it was absolutely stunning! There are a lot of nice places in the area for you to take advantage of for some great pictures. The rooms are very clean and has a bed and breakfast feel to it. Feels like someone’s actual room, not a typical hotel room. We had a corner room with a nice view as well. I’ve been to an outdoor concert here and it was a whole lot of fun! People came with picnic blankets ready to sit out and sing the night away. By the end of the night I’m sure you’ll be friends with the people around you. The food here takes a little long, but quiet honestly I’m here for everything else this place has to offer. I’ve been here several times and I never fail to get lost. It’s so big and has so many things to do, it’s almost like a little vacation get away. They also have a theater, golf, brewery, soaking pool, amongst many more things I have yet to find.

This is one of my favorite places! I have been coming here for years and have always enjoyed their great service, unique drinks, and historical setting. We hosted my 21st birthday party in The Attic(located above the Power Station) with full services and also booked several of the rooms to stay overnight. The dedication that the staff invested into every detail of my party was outstanding. They kept the drinks coming all night and served an amazing dinner buffet for my guests. They assisted me in customizing my decorations as well as seating and DJ space. I highly recommend Edgefield to anyone looking for a venue! The rooms themselves have a very authentic feel and emanate romance and personality. The stories behind the buildings add a great touch for any historians and individuals interested in a place with charm. I love that the staff keep a guest book located in the office that contains stories of paranormal experiences and supernatural vibes on the premises. I guess this makes it a great destination for ghost-seekers as well! Overall, I cannot rave enough about McMenamins Edgefield and I know a great many people who would say the same. Go see it for yourself… you won’t be disappointed!

What a wonderful place! Got my hippie on while visiting! The grounds are beautiful, with a new interesting thing to look at around every turn. The art is amazing and hidden everywhere you look. Would make a great place to spend the night and bar hop during the day. I believe there are 10 places to grab a bite or a drink. Loved the Little Red Shed, a cigar/bar that was just a cozy as can be. If I am ever in the Portland area again, would love to stay a night and drink/eat my way through the place. The soaking pool isn’t have bad either. It looks like a lazy river, but the water doesn’t move and is pretty warm. With beautiful flowers and art surrounding it. Check it out if you are ever in the area!

What keeps me coming back to the McMenamins restaurants? The Cajun Tots and a pint of Ruby – those are my happy hour go-to. The Black Rabbit and Power Station could get pretty busy, the wait for tables aren’t too long, but food takes forever to come out. On those days, they do ask/warn you that food is taking about 45 minutes after ordering and the pizza takes longer for some reason. I don’t normally order entrees so my tots or fries gets produced very quick. I love their Summer Lawn Concerts! You could get pretty close to the acts and it’s a fun way to spend a warm evening. Typically, the shows I would want to see gets sold out quickly. Probably best to stalk in the spring when they announce the bands. I prefer the bigger McMenamins locations(Edgefield, Grand Lodge, Kennedy School) over their smaller locations. There’s something eerie and grand about it.

The ambiance and delicious food are brought down by the slow, tortoise-speed service. Epic location, the grounds of this restaurant are beautiful and we could’ve spent hours just wandering. Come prepared to do some slow meandering while enjoying a home-brewed beer or cider.

I love McMenamins! My boyfriend took me to this location(we live in Seattle). We Über’ed it from our cheap hotel we got for the weekend so we could enjoy some drinks and also fill our passports. We did a wine flight, a whiskey flight, and a beer flight(oof-da). We wanted to splurge and do a couples massage but they were booked for the weekend which was a bummer. The grounds were super clean. It was pouring rain as usual so we got a little drenched walking around but it was still fun! I knocked a star off due to the overall rudeness of other people visiting. Not Mcmenimans fault, but for example, we were doing a wine tasting at the counter, and people were literally just pushing us out of the way so they could do one too. Some lady picked up my purse and moved it without even asking me if it was mine. Whatever happened to waiting your turn?

Can’t get enough of this amazing getaway! I feel just like I have taken a mini vacation whenever I decide to stay at Edgefield. The grounds are very warm and inviting. The hotel has a wonderful cozy feel with continuous dim lighting throughout the grounds. This place is great for a birthday weekend celebration, romantic retreat, family reunion, concert night when you don’t want to drive home, the list goes on… The point is, you are going to want to come here if you haven’t already. Fact. Guaranteed an amazing time, you won’t be disappointed! I have been to a few concerts here. The outdoor venue is great. Nice expansive lawn seating. Affordable tickets. Anywhere you sit is a good spot. Then just walk down to the stage and stand for a bit if you want the up-close experience. You cannot however bring in outside food or drinks and everything you get must be inside the venue. No in and out privileges. Prices are okay. The hotel is lovely. I have stayed overnight a few times. You can get a super cheap room for around $ 65 if you want a tiny ass bed and to use the hallway showers and bathrooms. You can pay up to $ 155…$ 175 with taxes if you want a nice king size bed, your own bathroom, and a little sofa sitting area. It just depends on how much cash you want to fork out. All the rooms have their own theme. Super fun paintings all around the rooms and hallways. There is a lot of nooks and crannies with fun paintings or different sayings. One of the halls in the winery wing had some fun song lyrics written on the pipes above and it started out as a sing-along. The place has a ton of personal charm throughout the premises. There is a winery, a pool hall, a small golf course, a cigar barn with an awesome cozy fireplace. Outdoor fire pits. There are a few different choices in restaurants and bars. You can walk around with any drinks you order at the bar. No problem. They also have a spa called Ruby’s. You can get a whole bunch of different treatments. Facials, massages(individual and couples), mani and pedi, etc. They have a very extensive list. Out back behind the spa is one of my favorite treats at Edgefield… the soaking pool! This is amazing. It is an expansive pool winding around two different sides of mini islands with various plants and a few fun art sculpture flowers that spurt out water above your head. The pool area perimeter is a setting surrounded by beautiful trees, flowers, and singing birds among a gorgeous mist that rises from the heated pool. Kids are allowed until 8pm. Then it gets a bit romantic in the pool(okay…just for some of us!). Lovely for couples. Sometimes a bit awkward for others but can also be super fun! I loooove the pool. Always have a blast. If you want anything to drink while at the pool there is a small bar service area at the front. No glass allowed. Makes sense. You can easily spend the weekend here and have an absolute blast. There is so much to do to keep you entertained. Speaking of entertainment… I think there is also a movie theater? I have yet to see it. Just goes to show the amount of fun their is to be had at Edgefield! Go check it out!

Updating my review, having stayed at Edgefield a couple times now. It’s still a nice place to go if you want to get outta the house for a weekend, but it could use some improvement in the customer service department. Look, I get it. Hotel guests can be annoying, especially when they’re discount hunters armed with McMenamins passports. My girlfriend and I were interrupted while trying to order drinks on at least two occasions while a few fellow hotel guests pressed their drink passports in the bartender’s face. But most of the employees we interacted with gave us the impression they didn’t really like working there. The culmination of the night was the bartender at the soaking pool barking at us about not using the drink window and instead coming in the main entrance. Weird. The exception were the staff at the Black Rabbit Restaurant, who were warm, welcoming, and friendly. Keep it up dudes. The rest of you: take a deep breath.

This place is absolutely amazing. I think there are like 7 or 8 bars, maybe more throughout the grounds. They have fire pits everywhere that are even going at night during the summer. There are gardens, glass blowing, par 3 golf, and more. They have the most awesome bathrooms ever. Just a really neat place. Be careful though, you can lose track of time as it almost feels like you are in a different world, and it can get expensive fast. I love Edgefield!

This hotels management is disgusting. They treat their EMPLOYEES like garbage. Talk down to them and belittle them INFRONTOFGUESTS. Then they see a bad review on Unilocal and delete it? It doesn’t work like that. Would not recommend anyone to stay in the hotel.

Incredibly disappointed with my check in experience after spending 4 days at the Grand Lodge property. Arrived a little early and needed to wait for our room — completely understandable in a weekend. The person checking us in didn’t offer a map, things to consider and Do(grabbing lunch, wine tasting or catching a movie). Simply said they’re full and can call when our room was ready if we didn’t want to check back in. Very unwelcoming and left us to our own resources. Luckily I’ve stayed before and chose to grab a seat in quiet library then grab lunch. When we did check in we were up on the 3rd floor with no elevator or valet service to assist with luggage — haul it 3 flights. Still no introduction to the property or map to enhance a new persons experience as a guest. There was no one in line to rush and move to next checkin. After my exceptional experience and time spent at the Grand Lodge I won’t return here for a stay. Lunch was good and our server Matthew was awesome.

No matter if you come winter spring summer or fall, you’ll always find something to do at Edgefield. Whether that’s golfing, drinking at the multiple bars that they have on site, listening to free live music in the winery, or taking a dip in the soaking room … you will not be disappointed! The specific location of the McMenamin’s brings you very close to the outdoors for listening to concerts or private dining at the black rabbit. It really depends on what you’re interested in doing that day or that weekend, regardless of what you are feeling they will have it! Per usual the dining experience can be a little bit slow because of how many people are packed in the restaurants. The norm is that pizza times are around 40 minutes but you’ll get your Ruby, terminator scout, or Long Island Ice-Tea at your table less than five minutes.

Oh how I love thee. We keep coming back here. Awesome restaurants, brewery, winery, the Little Red«cigar» Shed… Had a chance to sleep over recently and stayed the night in the men’s hostel dorm. Beds were comfortable and dorm had plenty of space. Ate at the Power Station and had an awesome burger. Wash it down with the Terminator stout or the Ruby. Both are killer brews… Had breakfast at the Back Rabbit which was also great. I’d go back anytime I have the chance.

This place was just ok. We went here strictly because my boyfriend grew up in Portland and this was one of his things. The food was lack luster, as was the beer and service. The building and area was beautiful, but horridly touristy. If you are looking for good food or beer, there are probably hundreds of better choices.

Went to a conference here and was surprized by how spralling it was and how many nooks and crannies there were. Lots of cool art all over the place and neat old buildings. Food is good, not great but good. The area in the main house still retains the old smell to it. Good views to the North and pretty grounds. They are also known for hve great concerts there as well. Probably a great place for a couple to get away to for the weekend.

This place is hard to give a solid review because it is a mixed bag of a lot of different experiences and venues all in one location. It certainly is a hippie adults dream of a playground. I could see where this place would be RAD to hold an outdoor boho theme wedding. As for everything else… This was our first time here. We were there for The cracked pot art festival. Art, cleanliness, venue, beer, beauty of the grounds 5⁄5 stars. Happy hour menu at the bar 2⁄5. Overpriced and they were out of most all of the vegetarian items and the tomato soup was not vegetarian. Service at the bar 3⁄5 basic, nothing extra. We had a great time at Edgefield and would come here again. At the end of our trip to Edgefield– After we unloaded the things that we purchased, we were sitting in our car waiting for a friend to call or text. Talking or texting is illegal while driving and we were not sure what restaurant we were all going to meet up at. We were hungry due to the fact that they ran out of vegetarian options at the bar. Waiting for our friend to phone. I guess we were sitting too long because a parking lot attendant came along and shooed us away. This was kind of rude. I wonder if they have problems with people dealing drugs or illegal actives in the parking lot? This aggravated my husband. He doesn’t understand why someone can’t wait in the parking lot, in the light of day, when their are tons of other spaces, and wait for a phone call? Not nice.

Service is definitely pretty slow here but luckily we were in no hurry and the food is delicious after a long day exploring at the river. Eats: Cajun Tater Tots. Spicy crispy but not too oily potatoes. What is not to love. Half Buffalo pizza hold the cheese, half BBQ chicken. Solid but was definitely underdone. Cooked but didn’t have true crisp crust not the melty gooey ness that is American pizza. Didn’t get to explore since it was so late but definitely would come back again.

Wow. We arrived about 3:30 for a 5pm open door call. Perfect timing even though we didn’t think it as we were really far back in line. Bring Cash! No cards accepted and ATM line super long. Eat early: really long lines 30 mins before concert. Okay, I went to Fred Meyer and bought event chairs for $ 19.99. I had a Tommy Bahama chair at home but it measured too high. Suppose to be 28 inches, according to the ticket info. Well, everyone who had a low slung Tommy Bahama chair was okayed by the chair police. So,… Just saying any low chair is ok. Now, the venue is awesome and it has cooled down to a very temperate 70 degrees. Now, the food. You can get there early and sit in one of the many Edgefield restaurant/pubs and grab a really good burger OR do what we did and order a burger to go with drinks and eat in you chairs in line. The wait line to get into the restaurants is about 20 – 30 minutes, except the Black Rabbit– it was almost vacant. BTW: Really great people watching. There is food at the concert. The younger couple next to us said it was good, but I really like my to go burger. They had a great vegan curry dish and a vegan burger. Well I am sitting back and just enjoying our time. Over and out!

We visited Portland for a short, weekend getaway and McME’s was recommended to us by a couple of friends. THEQUICKANDDIRTY: ambiance: 5⁄5(garden patio at the pub) service: 5⁄5(friendly and willing to ask about vegan options) food: 3⁄5 other: pizza comes from another kitchen and may not be timed with other food. This is explained in the menu and by our server. THELONGANDDRAWNOUT: After a long day of sightseeing and hiking Multnomah Falls(something every should do before they die) we finally made it back to the car and decided to head to McMenamins. McME’s was easy to find after plugging it into Maps on our iPhone. After a short drive(about 20 minutes from the Falls) we arrived at this oddly-placed, out-of-sorts venue. The turn off for McMenamins is like your are just pulling off to the side of the road. We didn’t see a grand entrance or anything like that. Then, the driveway reveals itself, fringed with abbreviated trees that laced the cutout path to the parking lot. Signs demarcating the various and supple offerings of the venue indicated there were the following on property: a distillery, a wine cellar, a pub and a hotel. We fumbled our way through the venue, noticed a wedding, and finally happened upon a friendly staff member who gave us a good lay of the land. We decided to go to the pub for an afternoon treat of beer and staples. The patio lent for a great al fresco experience in the nice Portland weather. We had a slight rain shower and the umbrellas at each table offered refuge but it was refreshing nonetheless. Our server, Matthew, was topnotch and friendly. I would go back and request his section on a future visit. By the time we finished our late lunch we decided to check out the wine cellar which was really neat. A subterraneous landing that was longer than it was wide. As you entered there was a wine bar that immediately greeted you on the left which offered tastings, and wine by the glass. In front of you, bottles upon bottles of the local product. Looking right, the long corridor was flanked with tables-for-two just outside of the vats of fermenting wine. At the end of the hall was an ornate setting-for-two perched on a platform — we knew instantly that would have been our seat. As we exited we noticed an older couple enjoying their wine with an extra large plate full of cheese, biscuits and fruit. Though it was a quick visit, we still had a great day all in all. We would likely bring friends to McME’s as it seemed like they hosted a lot of cool concerts. It was certainly a mixed bag.

This place is amazing! My bf and I had our couple’s message session at Ruby’s Spa in the Edgefield resort for our birthdays. Also included in the spa service was to use their hot water soaking pool. It was beautiful as if you’re on vacation or a getaway. We love this Edgefield resort. After our nice spa session, we walked over to the outdoor seating pub, put our name on the 45 minute waiting list and walked over to the wine tasting cellar while waiting for our table. We did the wine tasting flights and they give you a decent amount of each. They had live music inside. It was such an amazing experience. Their burgers are super delicious. You can just escape Portland for a day and spend your getaway here! Would love to come back!

ALways a great spot to hang for a day — or a weekend. The soaking pool is BOSS — bar steps away. Make sure to go on a day when Jerry’s Ice House is open — cozy little spot to chill and watch a Dead concert. The wine tasting is a bargain and there is often live music. The property is an adventure to explore — amazing art and history throughout. I would recommend to anyone who is a McMinamins fan — become a tripster and start on you passport. Great fun to work on getting those stamps.

Perfect play zone for Adults and kids! Ahhhh. Came here without any expectations. Well except to drink wine anyways. And got pleasantly surprised! Love when that happens. The estate is beautiful, well maintained and fillEd with all things fun for adults! Well for me anyways. You want to play golf with wine glass in your hand? Sure. Do you want to taste wine/drink wine in the haunted basement? Oui!!? They have it. How about beer? If that’s your choice of drink, they have it too!!! Distillery, brewery, winery, flowers, hot tub, shuffle board! Restaurant!!! They have it all!!! Even the cutest little tiny house with flowers all around! It’s like going to an amusement park minus all the colors and rides. But with bubbles, brews, outdoor picnics, tours and such. Came here for wine tasting and ended up spending an entire day. Yet I still didn’t cover everything. Repeat visit coming up in 3−2−1! Well soonish anyway!!! And their garden is filled with tasty goodies like Rosemary, rhubarbs, bunnies! Roses! Prettiness overload! Can’t wait to come back!
