Standard diner fare… but unlike the diners in NJ, they don’t follow the custom of serving split pea soup on Thursdays. Staff is friendly. Hot wings are decent. I still prefer my french dip with horseradish but can’t seem to get it right here or anywhere else outside of NJ…

Good food, decent service and always very busy! Good for family breakfast and a quick diner meal.

Stopped in for lunch while in the area for a business trip and although the restaurant was mostly full, I was able to be seated immediately. We were served quickly and we both enjoyed our meals. It’s a typical Diner, I suppose, and if that is what you’re looking for, then you will probably be as satisfied as I was. It really was good.

Okay food, nothing out of the ordinary for a diner. The wait staff has been consistently off-putting the entire time I’ve been coming here(every few months for four years now). I’ve never been made to feel like I was inconveniencing a waiter for getting what I ordered like I have been here.

Nothing spectacular or worth visiting. I guess if you’re in the area, you eat at Alexis as a last resort. I had their«famous» meatloaf. I’m still not sure what’s famous about it. It was mostly bread mashed in with a little bit of meat. Their Yankee bean soup was surprisingly good. My husband wasn’t impressed with his dinner either. We won’t be back.

The food is really good and the prices are very good. You get a lot of food for the money you pay. Best diner in the area!

Came in for dinner with a friend before a comedy show in Troy — the menu is almost unnecessarily large, but, hey, atleast there isn’t a lack of options. Service was nice, food came out quick. I had the ziti, and it was delicious. Big portion, and came with a bowl of soup and a garden salad, all for $ 10! Classic diner, nothing that will blow your mind but it’s a solid spot to stop for a good meal.

At first when I walked into the diner, I was pretty excited from the quick service and really friendly staff. I ordered the lunch buffalo chicken wrap and a red velvet cookie. I sat outside and waited for the takeout order. Red Velvet Cookie: This was pretty yummy, though it was ginormous. I definitely had a little of a sugar coma afterwards. It was the perfect crunchy rim with chewy, gooey center. Yums. Sprinkled with some chocolate chunks and white chocolate bits. What’s more perfect than that? Buffalo Chicken Wrap: So this was supposed to come with a chicken and corn chowder, but it wasn’t in my take out box anywhere. They included an overseasoned tiny tin of salad instead, but I’m not sure if that just came with it? The chicken was definitely underseasoned and tasted quite bland. The wrap itself just wasn’t all that appealing and didn’t seem to be really rich in stuffings. Overall, I was quite disappointed in it and didn’t even manage to finish it because I was so sad about the flavors(of lack thereof, really).

Wife and I had two great meals as great prices. The portions were large, the service was excellent. The seafood chowder was awesome, with whole shrimp and scallops and lots of other good stuff in it. Check out the senior menu and early bird [before 5:30] specials.

When we want diner food, I skip the diners close to my house and come here instead. There will likely be a wait, a lot of people think the way I do, but once at a table, the service is quick and the food is worth it. His place is about large; the parking lot, the menu, the portions: if you want breakfast, lunch, or dinner you can get all three at any time(though we couldn’t get a waffle after 6pm for some reason.) I like the omelet selection. And if you like a gin and tonic with your pancakes(which I would not, but some might) there is full bar.

I don’t get there very much, but the Alexis Diner is my favorite full menu diner in the Capital District. The only time I get over to North Greenbush is when I go to Hudson Valley CC to watch a basketball game with my friend. The last time we saw a game at HVCC we decided to hit the Alexis Diner after the game based on good word-of-mouth reviews. Both of us were happy our decision. The diner is located a few miles south of HVCC on Route 4. It is right off the highway, so it is easy to spot. Parking is easy. Reading through some of the reviews here, I see that all the negative reviews are related to a bad experiences with the management or the staff. Our experience was that we were seated promptly and our waitress was friendly and attentive. There could be some variations in service between servers and the time of day, but all I can say is that we were both very happy with the service. Calling the establishment the Alexis«Diner» short changes it. It is really a fine midscale restaurant with an extensive menu. Plus the menu also has a number of dinner specials. Food quality is excellent. The food is fresh, and it is clear that it was just not slapped together but was prepared to order. Definitely a notch above standard diner fare. The portions are plentiful. I can eat a lot, and I went away full. Pricing is very reasonable. My friend, who is a lot pickier than I am, was also highly complementary of the entire experience. Like I said earlier, I don’t get to North Greenbush much, but when I do I will make sure to stop back in. It’s really not all that far from Albany or Troy, and is definitely worth a 20 – 30 minute drive. Certainly one of the top five diners in the Capital District.

You really can’t beat Alexis diner! The quality of food is far above anything you’ll find at others in the area. A lot of diners today try and tack on hidden prices, but not here… just good food at a good price!

This was the best meal we had on our trip through New England! We were there on a Friday night @ 8:00 and it was hopping. The crowd was an interesting mix of families, Seniors, couples, and groups of college kids. We ordered of the daily special menu, pork loin and stuffed sole, but everything on other tables looked good and portions looked good. The meal started with soup, followed by a large garden salad, then the entrée. My stuffed sole was very filling. Often people slit the filet and slide a tablespoon or two of stuffing in it. This was a cylinder of stuffing wrapped with a filet. It was almost the size of a coke can. I also came with a couple of stuffed shrimp. Nice flavor to the stuffing. The waitress was really sweet and on top of it even though it was hopping. I would definitely go again and again if I was in the neighborhood.

This review is confined to my Sunday breakfast experiences. Since I have close relations in nearby Troy, the Alexis Diner has been a regular stop for early Sunday breakfast. The experience has been very good, for the most part. Our regular waitress, Mary, is always very friendly and efficient. Most recently(9⁄6), I had an excellent perfectly cooked three egg spinach omelet with swiss cheese and corned beef hash($ 7.99) as one of the options in the«make your own omelet» category. I would stick to the egg dishes here as my prior experience with the pancakes was not good. The diner has good coffee. The Alexis Diner is a place I will return to on my future visits to the Capital Region.

The only reason this gets a 4 star review is because they use OJ from concentrate!!!(or else they would get 5 stars). They used to use real OJ but sometime in the past few years have switched. Alexis is always packed for Sunday breakfast but they are experts at getting people seated quickly, getting food out quickly and attending to their customer’s needs quickly. I’ve been there for lunch and dinner too and it’s always good, quick, and freshly cooked diner food. Get their Eggs Benedict.

I’ve been eating here as long as it has existed, and my parents have been eating there more often than weekly. The owners are a great family, and the food is good. It gets a one star review because the last time I was there, a racist waitress insulted my girlfriend. The waitress refused to refill her water, even when refilling mine. The waitress would not touch a plate that had been eaten from, or would be eaten from, by my girlfriend. I know it’s 50’s themed, but the racist waitress adds too much unwelcome realism to the 50’s décor.

I love coming here with my husband. We can count on the food tasting as good as always. Their soup, no matter what kind, is awesome. I have to say the minestrone is one of my favorites. My two favorite meals are the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich or the Liver with Bacon. The liver is fabulous and the hot roast beef just melts in your mouth. Whatever you choose you can’t go wrong and you will never leave hungry. The portions are huge. Thank you Alexi’s!

This is a superior diner. Lunch specials are very reasonable, change every day, include soup, and come out rather quickly. Expect to pay between $ 7 and $ 11 for lunch and dinner will be optional that day. I’ve become a regular and my belt has noticed. Whether you’re in the mood for lasagna or a gyro or a burger or a salad or just about anything else, you will not be disappointed. Also, be sure to ask for rolls and butter. They come out fresh and warm.

This is the busiest diner I’ve ever seen, so many people here for Sunday brunch. The food was great and portion was huge, I got Corned Beef Hash Omelet and my bf planned on having omelet as well, but after he saw the picture of Steak & Eggs on the menu, he decided to get that. Even though there were a lot of people, we got our food fast, and staff there checked on us often to refill our coffee. Overall a very nice experience with Alexis Diner, just one thing though(one star off), they put butter on my toast(unlike other diners that put butter on the side), I don’t like butter so I didn’t eat my toast. I’ll remember to tell them not to put butter next time.
