It’s pretty hard to screw up breakfast. The Crescent Inn succeeded. Our waitress was clearly under the influence of drugs. Silverware was dirty, order was wrong, eggs were undercooked — my boyfriend is now sick with food poisoning. Oh — and in case you are alarmed by the bullet holes in the window there is a sign assuring the public that, «Help is on the way.» I wish they had gotten there sooner to tell us to get up & leave. This was our last visit to The Crescent Inn. It really makes me sad that this little diner that seemed like it was turning itself around under new management with better waitstaff and a cleaner environment has really gone down the drain. Meth heads and food poisoning is not something we will ever pay for again.

Thought we would try it out since it is under new management and needless to say was very disappointed. Food was bland, sausage gravy was like paste, over medium eggs were under cooked and runny, home fries weren’t crispy. The décor is old and rundown. Service was good

Arrived at restaurant and waited and waited for service. Just about the complete staff walked by my table but not one person made acknowledgement that I was there. Gave up after about 10 minutes. Only a few customers was in the restaurant. Would NOT recommend this place at all. Restaurant did smell like food probably because the kitchen is out in the open.

You can’t judge a book by its cover or a restaurant by its curb appeal. This place is not much to look at but the service and the tasty food is worth sharing. The fries are homemade, thick cut and yummy. My Swiss mushroom burger was tasty as was my friends cheesesteak sub. Our server was impressive. Young, great manners, sweet, helpful. The bathroom was extremely small but did it’s job :) The huge cinnamon roll I bought at the checkout counter was fresh and my friends homemade chocolate chip cookies were a great last bite as we were going out the door. I could tell many customers were regulars which is always a good sign.

Great little spot, catfish dinner is my favorite, and my wife loves the Ruben. We always have great service and the food is made fresh, this is our choice for our Sunday lunch date. I recommend to anyone looking for a spot for great food give this place a try don’t be fooled by looks.

Love this place ! But I just can’t believe that they serve can biscuits ! Everything else is home made but the biscuits ! They serve breakfast all day ! They have limitations for all day breakfast ! The sausage is not freshly cooked but reheated ! They ran out of fried potatoes and substitute fries! This place is growing well and still working out the kinks !

Well what a shame. I am compelled to drop my initial 4 star review to 2 and here’s the story. First, people reading these reviews should be sure to only pay attention to reviews past about April 2015, although it seems this place is slipping back in to what it used to be minus the cloud of cigarette smoke, and that’s only because it’s the law now… I think. I don’t see how anyone can give the Crescent Inn 5 stars. They must be friends or are having a radically different experience than me. I have ordered out from here a few times since my first review. The fried chicken was OK and you can get, at least at the time, a baked potato as one of your sides. I don’t see that very often. I also ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits once and the portion was very large, but the gravy was bland. It needed way more sausage fat, salt and black pepper in it… and sausage. But for some people I’m sure they would rave about it. Some folks apparently like bland food. Today I had an opportunity to nestle in, read some magazines, get on their WiFi and listen to some talk radio and take my time. I needed to kill some time actually. Everything started out fine and normal, I was told to sit where I wanted. I got a whole booth to myself which was great because I wanted to spread out. I was asked which menu I wanted and I chose both, in case I wanted something off the breakfast menu. I was in the mood for soup because it was so cold outside and thought I would get a bowl of the Italian wedding soup which is permanent on the menu. Guess what? They had none! Vegetable soup was the only soup they had, so I ordered a cup… thankfully not a bowl. My server was an older lady. I’m OK with that, I like me some seasoned citizens, I’m getting there myself, but she came off… I don’t know, maybe unhappy? Hard to explain exactly but a bit of a sourpuss. After ordering the soup, I got her attention and asked if they had WiFi. First she said no, then I said the other girl had told me before they did. She just stood there and said she hadn’t heard of it and had never been asked before. She continued to stand there with the order pad waiting for me to order and it was clear I was not ready to order. I had told her I was not in a hurry when I sat down. I said, «I think I’ll stop with the soup» and closed up my menus. She then said let me check on that for you and came back a little later with the WiFi password. But, by then I was already done with this experience and re-stated I would just have the soup and that’s it. Plus, the password was the restaurant name and some numbers and the name wasn’t even spelled correctly! The soup was terrible. On a cold day, in a diner, how can you not have at least one if not a few soups on hand? This soup looked like they had diced fresh vegetables(I’ll concede they were fresh or at least frozen and not canned) and thrown them in a pan of water when I ordered… and it tasted like it. Zero seasoning that I could detect and the vegetables were still sort of crunchy. A can of store brand canned soup would have been better. I tried hot, sauce, salt and pepper and still could not pull the soup up to anything worth my time. I left 80% in the cup, and paid my tab and left. Of course at this point«sourpuss» was suddenly calling me honey and sweetie as I paid. It was obvious I was unhappy with her and the soup. I left and went to the local pancake house, and left immediately as I saw they were completely un-managed as well. I ended up getting fast food. Sadly, with all the quirks and issues with the sit down restaurants around the Zion Crossroads area… and my wife and I have eaten at all of them… the fast food places are actually the best places to eat. The crescent Inn probably does some good food. It’s hard to mess up regular diner food like eggs, pancakes, breakfast meats, spaghetti and such, but step outside that and you get out of the range of this place. They have even taken things off the menu that were really attractive, probably because they cant do them well. At this point I will be hard pressed to try again. Maybe someday this area will have a great sit-down restaurant but all of them here now have one issue or another. There are some good places to eat over in the Lake Monticello area 15 and 20 minutes south/southwest if you are not just off the highway for a pit stop.

This is a cozy nondescript mom & pop diner w/new owners this year. It’s off the main road without much else around, yet only a couple miles from I-64. The free-standing restaurant has seen better days, but the inside is reasonably clean. There are about 12 – 15 booths, 10 – 12 stools along the counter and a large screen TV showing sports. We arrived for lunch on a Wednesday, and the restaurant was only about a third full, if that. You seat yourself. The clientele appeared to be 90% local folks… blue collar types and senior citizens. Only one waitress was serving all the customers, and the owner was primarily playing chef. The service wasn’t bad, but I can see how it would be far worse if they were busier. They serve breakfast ALLDAY, but you’ll have to ask for the breakfast menu… otherwise they’ll just hand you the lunch/dinner menu. My date ordered the Sunshine Omelet w/home fries, toast and a large sausage patty. I ordered chicken satay w/peanut sauce… mainly because I was surprised to see it on the menu, and was curious if it tasted as good as I had experienced elsewhere. Diners don’t typically do a good job with anything but the basics, and this diner was no exception. My satay was disappointing. The chicken didn’t seem marinated… in fact, tasted fairly flavorless and dry. And the peanut dipping sauce tasted like it contained some soap/detergent(perhaps it did). On the other hand, my date’s omelet was HUGE and quite good, as were the home fries. I didn’t ask her about the sausage patty, but it looked good and almost the size of a thin hamburger. I suggest if you’re in the mood for lunch or dinner, stick with things like burgers or maybe a grilled cheese sandwich. If you venture into other things, like salads or spaghetti, you may be disappointed. I like eating at diners so I’ll probably come back to The Crescent Inn in the months ahead. When I do, I’ll probably order from the breakfast menu. They don’t have their menu online, but another Unilocaler recently took photos of the menus and posted them. The Crescent Inn also has about 4 – 5 daily specials that I don’t think are on the menu(i.e., chicken noodle soup). When you’re done eating, you go up to the register to pay(no check is brought to the table). As another Unilocaler mentioned, they don’t currently accept credit cards.

The veggie burger is out of this world, especially with a slice or two of provolone cheese. The new management is really great — really nice people, they definitely care about the food — and the change in the menu, atmosphere, and cleanliness is stunning. A great local joint. The coffee is unlimited and the breakfast is served all day. Plus, free wi-fi. Who needs a Starbucks?

Easy off exit from I 64. Real local place with friendly staff. Vegetable soup was great. Masala veggie burger was very good and my husband enjoyed his hamburger. I recommend this place for a place to eat while on the road. Reasonable prices.

Stopped by today on while on the road, food is GREAT and reasonably priced. The wait was a little long for sandwiches and fries but the atmosphere is very cute, the food very good. The only drawback was our very young waiter, he’s inattentive and forgetful.

First visit on 7⁄19 after driving past it for 25 years. Very pleasantly surprised by some of the more unusual items on the menu. I had the Crescent Inn sandwich(can’t recall the exact name), which had grilled squash, pesto, portabella mushrooms, and cheese. It was delicious. My friend had the double cheeseburger which she said was very good. We both had the onion rings, which were great. The waitress told us that the owners had changed recently — guessing that’s for the best, based on the old reviews. I also picked up a piece of the coconut cream pie for my husband, and he enjoyed it very much. Definitely worth the stop.

Came since it was close to 64. The french fries were cold and the waitress was inattentive in that she wasn’t friendly nor did we get refills. The fried chicken was good and extra crispy. The steak sandwich was overdone and tasteless.

Stopped here for the first time tonight. We had a great homemade dinner. Got the beef open faced sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes, the turkey one, and a tuna salad sandwich. Excellent taste. The waiter was attentive. Sweet little place with nice prices! Been in the family since 1956!

This place had both the best(i.e. Most efficient waitress ever) and perhaps the most unhappy(i.e. Never smiled) waitress ever. The food was ok, nothing to write home to mom about. Id rather stop here than ihop but thats not saying much.
