Have only been in for breakfast (sandwiches) but they have been great, and a great value. Friendly people, and good coffee too!

Stopped in for a sandwich when I was in a hurry for lunch, wound up getting the grilled cheese with bacon and tomato on marble rye. Great food, great coffee — the espresso was smooth and nearly perfectly extracted. I had a double shot with my sandwich.

A local troy favorite that everyone must try.
I’m always greeted personally as are many patrons at walking to the shop. All the soups are homemade and very delicious vegetarian based broth which is good.
The bread is fresh in the wraps are very generous in size.
I especially like their egg salad sandwich and cabbage soup.
I am a vegetarian so I’ve never had any of their meat sandwiches.
The only thing that I don’t like is that their salad are mediocre I would suggest one of their sandwiches wraps or soup.
A great local place were you feel like a friend not just a customer!

Best place for lunch in Troy. Great selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and two different soups (usually one vegetarian). It can get pretty crowded but they get you in and out quickly. They also have homemade cookies and other desserts, good coffee too. How do they always remember my name ??

Great sandwiches! As others have said, fast service and generous sizes. It can get quite crowded at lunch time but somehow the line always moves quickly. Favorite so far is the Julius Caesar (sandwich, not the wrap) which is stuffed with chicken breast.
As others have said, they really try to get to know you. They already remembered my name after just a couple of visits.
Like most places in Troy it is small, so larger groups will have problems, but they have just enough tables for anyone that wants to eat there.
It’s just a tad bit more expensive compared to eating on campus (Sandwich and chips is usually ~8.5, 6.5 for veggie) or grabbing something from Subway, but the quality is much, much better. You might even save money in the long run since you probably won’t be snacking afterwards.
If you’ve never been, make sure to grab a paper menu before getting into line. They don’t have all of the options (particularly the sandwiches) listed up on the chalkboards.

Wow. Seriously. Francesca’s seriously has the best sandwiches in the capital region. My only issue? They aren’t open on the weekend and I don’t work super close which makes it hard to get there too often. If they were open on the weekend or I lived close, I would without a doubt be a regular!
Francesca’s has sandwiches, salads, soups, baked goods and coffee. Everything is homemade, fresh and most importantly– delicious. I usually get a wrap and they’re seriously huge. And I absolutely love how they put artichokes in them if you ask.
They can get really packed during lunch time but they move really fast and you can call in your order ahead of time. The prices are really reasonable and the women working there are friendly.
If you’re in troy between the hours of 7:30 — 4:30 M-​F then you seriously need to stop in!

The Chef’s Salad was loaded with ham, turkey, roast beef, and cheese. I mean, LOADED. I actually found myself having to pick out a large portion of the meat to achieve proportionality with the greens. This is no little girly salad. It’s the type of salad that big brawny steak-​loving men can eat without feeling unsatisfied and hungry again in an hour.
The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, and I barely even needed the olive oil+salt+pepper I requested in lieu of salad dressing. I also got a taste of the egg salad sandwich, which probably had a good two inches of egg salad at its thickest point. These people do not skimp.
This is clearly a very popular lunch spot, as a good line formed shortly after we entered from a fairly empty-​looking street. It’s fairly unassuming and easy to miss if you’re an out-​of-​towner, but definitely worth a stop.

No fresh eggs for breakfast? Only «eggpatty»? Fail. Although, after I was told they only had eggpatties, my breakfast sandwich had scrambled eggs on it. I was confused… But for $.50 with a 16oz coffee I’ll be back.

Nearly everything on the menu is homemade, including the mozzarella.
Francesca is always welcoming, and has a supernatural ability to seemingly remember hundreds of customers favorite orders.
Perfect breakfast /​lunch spot, with a vast variety of daily sandwich specials.
Soups are outstanding and eclectic, featuring cabbage, lentil, gazpacho or chick-​pea; depending on the day of the week.
Muffins, cookies and other delicious treats are baked in-​house daily, as well.
Catering & is available and affordable for group /​office functions.

Love — love — love the chicken caesar wrap! I have to stop myself from going to Francesca’s every day because I easily could. The food is at a great price and everyone is friendly. I wish it was open more because I definitely would go there on the weekend.

I’ve been here a total of 3 times.
I would be a regular at this place if it was possible.
It’s very hard for me to visit this place based on the hours.
I live in Troy but don’t work here.
I have to either.
A. Get up extra early– Not easy.
B. Leave work early– Even harder.
The 3 times i have been able to make it was twice in the morning and once in the afternoon.
The breakfast sandwich is awesome!

The lunch sandwich was also pretty amazing. They don’t skimp on the ingredients which made it a little difficult to eat but hey, Bring it on!

The atmosphere is definitely old timey neighborhood sandwich shop.
The owner has been there each time I’ve gone. I used my detective skills to figure that out. (the obvious regulars calling her fran and the newspaper article with a picture posted on the wall may have helped)
Service has been good. A little rushed in my morning visits but understandably so.
I will be back! (hopefully)

Every town needs a Francesca’s, or at least an equivalent. I am very fortunate to have this place a block from where I work. They don’t know my name (yet), but I know they try to get to know their regulars greet you by name when you come in.
You will not leave Francesca’s hungry OR broke. A breakfast sandwich with a heaping serving of eggs and smoked mozzarella with a 16 oz coffee costs $ 3.50. I believe you can get sausage or bacon on the sandwich for the same price. They have a large variety of flavored coffees that are very tasty. My major complaint with most flavored coffees is that they taste like the flavor was burned into the beans. I don’t taste that slightly burned taste in Francesca’s coffee.
The majority of times I’ve gone have been for lunch. The specials menu changes every day (you can try checking twitter to see what their specials of the day are @FrancescasCafe, although they have not been consistently updating it). Again, their portions are very generous and reasonably priced. If you’re going the healthier route, they do have a low-​carb wrap, but I’d recommend you avoid it. It tends to fall apart if you have any sort of dressing on the wrap (random tip).
Huge thumbs up. I look forward to becoming a regular at Francesca’s.

Delicious sandwiches, OK coffee. I’m just visiting the area for a few weeks and this place is filled with regulars, mostly from the offices in downtown Troy and city employees, I think. Makes for a weird crowd. I clearly didn’t fit in and I’m sure since I was carrying a backpack and pulled out my laptop that they all assumed I was an RPI student.
I had a delicious BLT, three slices of fresh bread, loaded with real, crispy bacon, mixed green and delicious tomatoes (even in May). I also got an iced coffee which was OK. They’re not upfront about what kind of coffee they serve, like most other coffee shops. Sandwich and coffee for under $ 7.
Also, there are a few little right-​wing, anti-​taxation signs hanging up which I thought was weird…

I would have never found this restaurant if it wasn’t for my entertainment book coupon but boy am I glad that I did. Besides eating at my house I can’t remember the last time I asked for a Turkey sandwich and got fresh cut turkey (and a lot it). The sandwich I ordered was a classic, it lacks all of the grease and commercial products that most sandwich shops offers and delivers you a fresh, crisp sandwich with fresh cut meat. At a reasonable price. I think the only complaint I’d have is that the restaurant isn’t open on Saturdays.

Early on in life, I learned a simple truth about business: you can have it good, you can have it fast, and you can have low price — but you can NEVER have more than two of those things at once.
I guess Francesca’s is the exception that proves the rule. Take today’s special. A bologna and cheese sandwich — sounds scary, huh. I shouldn’t have worried. The bolagna was piled high on sturdy wheat bread, the provalone cheese was exquisite, there was a generous helping of greens and tomatoes, and best of all, a blend of mayo and mustard to make you cry with happiness.
Add in two pickle slices, a bag of chips, a $ 5.50 tab and the fact that I was in and out of there in less than five minutes with my lunch in my hot little hands, and well, it really doesn’t get any better than this. I pulled a Stella Artois out of the studio fridge, smiled like an idiot as I ate the best sandwich I’ve had in months, and then walked over to the iMac and wrote this review.
Seriously, it doesn’t get much better than this ANYWHERE. Francesca’s deserves to be on your short list.

How can it be that no one has reviewed Francesca’s yet? Intimidated by tackling Troy’s ‘best politically connected luncheonette’?
I’ve been getting my morning coffee at Francesca’s for years now. It’s nice to get out of the office, stretch the ol’ legs and wander a couple blocks down the way. Sometimes, when the spirit moves me, I grab some of the homemade muffins for me and my coworkers. There’s all sorts of quick breakfast stuff, sometimes an ‘everything’ bagel hits the spot. Most of it though, except for some occasional fresh fruit, is not precisely healthy — which of course means it’s delicious.
At lunchtime (and you want to get there early or late — go at 12 and you’ll be waiting on a long line of Troy Record /​gubment workers (?)) there’s usually an interesting special sandwich, but regular sandwiches are good too. Ingredients are piled pretty high which makes for a filling sandwich. Personally, I usually go with roast beef on whole wheat with mayo and smoked mozzarella. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it.
I would say one of the best thing about Francesca’s is that all the ladies there will learn your name within 4 or 5 visits. I don’t know how they do it, but it’s just a small thing that makes me feel welcome every time I go there.
