This establishment never disappoints. My fiancé and I drive 20 minutes to come here on Saturday mornings. Today we tried their Nutella doughnut and it did not disappoint. The doughnut was warm and fluffy while the warm Nutella covered it in a beautiful chocolate blanket. This may be my new favorite. We did get the black raspberry doughnut to go as well as a bacon, chorizo knish. I absolutely love this place.

I miss living down the block from Nibble. The staff has always been friendly and the donut selection is incredible. It’s nice to be able to enjoy a delicious donut and not feel like I just ate fried sugar. The potato flour makes it a much more substantial treat. My last visit led me to the Schmaltz donut… out of this world. I could spent most Saturdays going back and forth from the farmers market to nibble and never tire of the donuts.

Wonderful donuts the way they should be. You’ll never want Duncan donuts again. A definite must try of your on Troy.

This place is not only really aesthetically pleasing but the staff is absolutely incredible. While I waited for my donuts I had a lovely conversation with them about the wonderful city of Troy. The Donuts are absolutely delicious. I have the Vegan Schmaltz donut with jelly(and without cause why not). They are reasonably priced for GIANT donuts, that are made fresh. They are filling enough to be an entire meal. Typical donuts I could eat about 4, you can eat one and be full. I’m not giving them 5 stars because the Donuts are a little heavy for my liking. It feel like it’s more like sweet bread because of how thick it is. I will be back though when I’m craving a sweet breakfast.

W went with open minds knowing these would be nothing like traditional yeasty or cake donuts. I’ve eaten potato donuts in Montréal and they were warm, fluffy and delicious. The potato donuts at Nibble Inc. were odd. We ordered the basic donut with flavor/topping options. Those enhancements were delicious but couldn’t save the actual donuts. The donuts were dense, almost tasting like a slightly lighter bagel without the chewy crust. On their own the donuts were awful. Maybe we caught them on a bad day and the donuts were over cooked or something? I’m not writing off this place since some of their breakfast and lunch stuffed donuts sound and look good so I’ll have to come back and give those a try. But as for the basics I was not impressed.

What?! I’ve neglected to write a review of Nibble? Let me correct such an egregious oversight. I’ve been a patron of the Malt Room since it’s opening. Chris and Michael made some fantastic cocktails. So, on one visit I asked Chris why I hadn’t seen Michael, he told me that he and a partner had opened a donut shop and, by the way, would you like to try the Baker’s Daisy, a cocktail with donut infused vodka made by Michael. Of course, I could pass up on it and it was, and continues to be a fantastic offering. Now, onto Nibble! First, let me warn you. before I went in person, I checked out the website. Let me be blunt, this is pure, unadulterated, donut porn. After a few minutes, my mouth watering and stomach grumbling, I set off to taste one of these delights in person. The shop is spacious, with both communal and individual tables. But it’s the smell that gets your attention, followed immediately by the selection of donuts displayed front and center behind the counter. These donuts are made with potato flour, resulting in a very light bu surprisingly hardy donut. One of the things I noticed as a result of the flour was that it allows the fillings and/or toppings to really shine. And oh, so many choices. As of this writing I have had far too many flavors to mention, but the Miso Honey and the Café mocha are easily two of my favorite donuts, bar none. I also have to mention the breakfast pockets… get one. Get one, get one, get one. Seriously, you won’t be disappointed. I’m a HUGE fan of chorizo with my breakfast and their brekafast pocket with eggs, chorizo, and cheese would be worth a drive over daily, if only my waist could accomodate it. Check out there facebook page for updates, but be warned, it can get addicting.

Super cute! Loved the décor and staff was awesome. My mother in law loves doughnuts and she was pleasantly surprised with this little gem in Troy. Everything was super fresh and they filled the doughnut on the spot! The basket of handy wipes is thoughtful and a necessity. I will definitely be bringing my boys for a visit soon!

Forget everything you know about doughnuts. These aren’t light, airy fritters or puffy cake rings. These are something more… primal. Chewy, dense, beautiful old-world creations. Your teeth can really meet in the middle of one of these perfectly fried creations. The available flavors are creative and delicious. My favorite is the orange cardamom. It’s a tough lighter than the others I tried, with just the right amount of sweet citrus and spice. To make this family-run shop an even better destination for hungry neighborhood denizens and tourists alike, the deep-fried pocket sandwiches are… life changing. They roll their doughnut dough out thin, pile it high with your choice of fillings, fold it over, and fry it to a perfect, crispy-on-the-outside golden brown. The owner is really kind and service-oriented, too. I wish I had a place like this in my hometown.

I had been eyeing this place for some time and so glad that I finally made a visit. I had somewhat of an idea of what to get on this trip as I looked over its website and its FB page. There was a good selection amongst the doughnuts on a weekday morning around 10-ish. The prices are clearly listed on the menu board posted right next to the doughnut racks. I had a tough time choosing between the Thai peanut and the blackberry cranberry but the fruity options usually win me over. The only way to put it was love at first bite. I was completely head over heels for the blackberry cranberry doughnut! It was not super sweet and the way the doughnut was reminded me of one of my favorite childhood snacks, the sweet cruller. Unlike most doughnuts, Nibble has doughnuts that are denser and have more of a chew with each bite. It’s not for everyone and I respect that but to me, this is what sets it apart from other«donut shops» and I appreciate it. I also ordered a breakfast pocket($ 6.50) which was literally loaded. Stuffed with cheese, potatoes, eggs, + bacon, the pocket was huge! I had the doughnut first because the pockets are made to order and dunked into the fryer, but I didn’t mind the short wait. From enjoying something sweet to this savory pocket, I was again reminded of another favorite of mine, a kolache. Just as stuffed, the melting of all the ingredients made it fulfilling and breakfast-worthy. The crisp outside made the texture interesting. Overall a cute place for those who want to grab breakfast, lunch or a snack. They have lots of drinks including coffee and tea. The interior space is clean, simple, and ample for even small groups. Just remember to get there early so you can choose from a wider doughnut selection… before they run out for the day. Will be back to try more goodies.

I wish I wasn’t already full when I came here to get a friend a doughnut before I jetted out of Troy for the afternoon. But I was. My mouth wanted to try ALLTHETHINGS. But my stomach said«no.» I still got myself a Dark Chocolate Sea Salt and ate it in the car on the drive home. The texture is decidedly more bready/cakey. Less puff pastry. The flavors are bold, and creative. This isn’t spun sugar. It has a depth. I *NEED* to come get a knish. …NEED.

So what better way to recover than a long run than go to a donut shop? We headed there right when it opened on a Saturday morning to find it full of college kids getting an early start on a donut run. Service was a little slow but I took the extra time to take in the sights and scents. It is a charming little establishment with a small but fierce menu with creative concoctions from miso honey to maple bacon. It caters to the vegan and gluten free crowd that seem to be growing exponentially. I asked the young lady who took my order for suggestions and she quickly offered her favorites. I exercised self control and only purchased 3. The blueberry vegan was surprisingly good though it made me thankful that I love meat products because it lacked the airy feeling the non vegan donuts had to offer. The maple bacon was one I couldn’t resist because as my mother-in-law says, bacon makes everything better. The maple was every so subtle, so much so that I couldn’t really taste it, and the bacon… well it speaks for itself. My fav though was the lime in the coconut, it was light, subtle in coconut flavor and delicate. Made with fresh limes. Really quite the indulgent treat. Though I bought my donuts and made off like a bandit, it looked like a charming place you could hang out at, drink coffee and work on your laptop.

They need to get a better sense of customer desire… they’ve got the right idea but the wrong execution. 1. CUSTOMERSNEEDGOODBARISTACOFFEE, not the water downed funeral home, self-yourself, crap. 2. Also, Any donut regardless of ingredients should be soft and moist. Get those components right and it may as well be the best donut in town… meanwhile they still have a long way to go.

Nibble has some amazing doughnuts. They definitely aren’t your standard Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kremes, but that’s what makes then special. These potato doughnuts are a little bit denser, but they’re still delicious. Something else that’s really unique about this place is their pocket sandwiches. Mac and cheese and chorizo in a doughnut?!? what more could you ask for? Every time I go, I always get a loaded pocket sandwich(with eggs, bacon, potato, and cheese) and the Milk Man. The flavors are definitely not vanilla. They have some pretty unique flavor combinations that capture the essence of what Troy is becoming. Great place for breakfast before or after the farmer’s market on Saturdays! :) If you’re like me and get more doughnuts than you can eat in one sitting, they’re even better when they’re heated up in the microwave for 15 – 30 seconds. They get kinda fluffy and the warmth just makes them that much better.

Here a nibble, there a nibble, everywhere a nibble, Nibble! Certainly by now you’ve heard of a Cronut™ and its many imitations, and maybe you’ve even been lucky enough to have tried one of the originals(I haven’t). But I think I’ve now nibbled on something totally different. A cross between a doughnut and a bagel. Not a true NYC bagel, mind you, but then with such a combination, how would you ever know? I’m going to call it, obviously, a «doughgel»(it sounds better than a «bagnut»). There has been much discussion about the texture of the doughgels, oops, doughnuts sold by Nibble. Some people like them, some people don’t. But isn’t that the case with any food? As others have suggested, don’t go in expecting to have a French cruller, a glazed raised, or a Krispy Kreme. Maybe that’s why they should consider marketing them as «doughgels.» Nobody, I repeat, NOBODY has an idea what a «doughgel» should taste like or what its texture should be. I think I’ll trade mark that word. Having read all the reviews, we decided that two of Nibble’s doughnuts would be enough for the two of us. The difficulty was trying to decide which varieties to buy from the maybe eight choices still remaining on their shelves at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon. My wife selected the«signature» Dark Chocolate Sea Salt($ 2.50) and I decided on the«simple» Pineapple Habanero($ 1.50). The chocolate one actually was made with a chocolate batter and had a tasty dark chocolate drizzle on top. So there was a double amount of good chocolate flavor coming through. The faint flavor of habanero and the more dominant flavor of pineapple were in the glaze on the top of my standard potato-based doughnut. Beneath the toppings on these doughnuts was a crusty outer finish which yielded with each nibble to a denser and chewy interior that was in many ways similar to some decent bagels that I’ve had. I can now understand how it could be possible to add some bacon, egg, and cheese, or corned beef to one of the plain«simple» doughnuts and have a nice sandwich. Without the drizzles or the toppings, the doughnuts are not inherently sweet. We’re going to have to make some additional visits to explore the possibilities here, and I’m looking forward to that. The staff were friendly and helpful in explaining the favorites and differences between the doughnuts when I told them we were newbies to Nibble.

I totally get all the negative reviews. Nibble is not your typical donut shop, and their denser potato donuts aren’t what most people expect when they crave a deep fried sweet treat. Beyond that, a lot of the fanciful glazes don’t have enough flavor to get past the heaviness of the shell. I want to bite into a gorgeous chocolate orange donut with my eyes closed and have my tastebuds scream with glee at the juxtaposition of rich roasted cocoa beans paired with bright sunny citrus. Nibble’s chocolate orange does not deliver on that. Nor does their dark chocolate sea salt. Nor a bunch of other flavors. And when you consider that these are a couple of bucks per donut, I can understand why some people are disappointed. Especially when Schuyler bakery right across the river makes excellent old fashioneds for just fifty cents each. So how is this a 4* donut shop? I’ve long held that certain kinds of places should be evaluated not on the average of all their food, but rather on the strength of the best thing they make. And Nibble’s core competency is in their made-to-order filled donuts. After I lose a little weight I’m going back to explore a few custom creations. But my favorite to date has to be the Parfait. It’s really a genius idea for a donut because it’s a riff off something otherwise totally healthful. To make this, a donut is filled with a thick, and tangy Greek style yogurt, and then the top is drizzled with granola and honey. It sounds strange, but it tastes delicious with a ton of great textural contrasts. My other favorite is the Local Lemon, which is filled with house made lemon curd, and then topped with a thin slice of Meyer lemon. Thinking about these two together, I realize what they have in common besides being filled. They both bring a significant level of acidity to the equation, and I’m sure that helps to cut some of the heaviness of the potato donut shell. Interesting. I also have yet to try their donut pocket sandwiches, which are fried to order. Essentially they wrap donut dough around savory fillings, and fry that up for you while you wait. They do it with breakfast foods, which sounds amazing. But they also do it with comfort foods, which also sounds amazing. Pretty much I’m a sucker for anything hot and fried. Part of me doesn’t want to try one, because if they are good as I expect, it might be the end of me.

Let me start off with saying: I am in no way a doughnut fan. I don’t eat them, like ever. I think they are wayyyy too sweet and greasy — and leave me almost hungrier than before I ate them. I’ve heard tell of a new type of doughnut being created a few blocks from my residence. While being a doughnut-hater I can’t in good conscious give Nibble a 5. But I can say now my hate has turned into moderate interest in ONLY Nibble’s doughnuts. I got a Chocolate Espresso doughnut with no glaze. It was cakey, almost like the consistency of a blondie brownie. It pulled apart with some resistance, maintained no grease or stickyness on my hands at all. I love that I could eat this by pulling at it instead of barbarically shoving something huge down my gullet. It tasted nothing like Espresso(like at all) but the chocolate was present and soft. Without the glaze I could really enjoy the texture, it was dense and filling — unlike any doughnut I hated in my past. Normally I could never stomach a plain doughnut with no frosting or glaze, but I’d gladly have a NIbble unglazed any day. I was actually satiated after eating one doughnut. It was amazing. Go Nibble, turning haters into«moderate interest”-ers.

Finally! Artisanal doughnuts! It has been foretold and the time has come! Why does the bag smell like French fries? Because the doughnuts are made out of potatoes, honest to god, and you can smell it. Obviously, the flavor is different, too. It’s a hearty doughnut with a crisp exterior and a dense, buttery interior. Clearly, this doughnut is prepared to hold its own against a variety of toppings, which the chefs at Nibble are prepared to throw at it. We tried the Milk Man, maple bacon, and blackberry-filled doughnuts, and let me be the first to tell you, one is enough. A person(me) who can easily throw down six Krispy Kremes, or three Dunkin Donuts, will have a hard time finishing off two Nibble doughnuts. It is dense, and I mean it, almost to a fault. I somehow wish the doughnuts were smaller and thus increased the toppings-to-doughnut ratio. The flavors were all really good, but time and again, the doughnut, though tasty, was overwhelming. It’s almost enough for me to give three stars, but I won’t! The craftsmanship on display here is stunning, and any doughnut aficionado will be swooning when Mr. Doughnut Man starts handcrafting your request. The flavors are spot-on, and it’s that creativity that will keep me coming back for more.

«No sir, I don’t like it». Nibble Inc is a cute looking doughnut shop in Troy selling potato based doughnuts. They make small batches of dough and stay open til the dough is out which usually occurs at 1pm according to their website. The location is very neat and clean with sufficient and comfortable seating. The customer service was also very friendly and cheerful. That being said the doughnuts are too expensive and not very good. In my opinion, any more than $ 1 for a doughnut is a tad pricey. Most importantly, Nibble Inc fails to deliver in the quality of their product. The doughnuts did not at all have the qualities of what I would consider to be fresh. The dough was dense, tough, dry, and tasteless. It lacked the cake like quality(fluffy, moist, and sweet) that I have come to expect from a doughnut. The flavor and consistency were more akin to a soft pretzel than a doughnut. The glazes were the only thing I really enjoyed. Overall it was a mediocre doughnut that I could not finish. I would not return to try another.

Opening day jitters? I stopped in just minutes after they opened for business on their first day, a Saturday. They had just three varieties of donuts available. A couple of minutes after I arrived the place filled right up, and there was a long line. The owner looked shocked, and mentioned that the coming Monday was actually the grand opening. I got the distinct feeling they weren’t ready. And certainly not ready to serve a large crowd. I got two donuts. A chocolate donut with a white glaze and the«classic» gluten free which also was glazed. The chocolate was overcooked. It was almost burnt, which made the crust bitter and hard. The interior was dense, and while the flavor was decent, it wasn’t anything special. The donut had a generous amount of glaze on it, but the glaze was too sweet in my opinion. The gluten free was disappointing too. It was dense, and had tons of glaze on it. It was cloyingly sweet, and I couldn’t taste anything but sugar. I’m going to cut them some slack and give them 3 stars due to it being their first day. I do plan to go back in a few weeks to see if they’ve worked out the kinks.
