The most bland pizza I have ever come across. Canned mushrooms… Really?!? This place is a ripoff for charging anything for this tasteless thing they try to pass off as pizza.

Someone told me that«this is the best pizza in Ohio. I must try it.» So being from N.Y. and having good/great pizza all around the country and Rome, I’m always ready for pizza. Well, I am sorry Ohio. If this is your best it rates very low on my scale. I’m not trying to be mean, just truthful. The bite size squares are nice and easy to eat. The ready made dough is grocery store type. Yes, they are not cheep with the toppings. To the edge as advertised, but just not cut there and fresh. It’s all about the sauce. That was ok. Anyway, it’s not bad pizza, just not N.Y. style.(which they never claimed. I’m just saying). If your not expecting something fantastic, just regular pizza that you can buy at the store, then this place is for you. Kids will love it. Just not for me.

It’s Dayton Pizza folks. It has toppings all the way to the sides with no big doughy crust and yes it’s cut into squares. It is a pizza created and loved in Dayton for over 50 years. Is it Dayton’s best? That up for debate, but this pizza is much better than any frozen pizza by any stretch of the imagination. Being from Dayton, I love this type style of pizza(like Donatos, Cassano’s, Milano’s, and my fav Joe’s). All I know is I get back up to the Miami Valley 2x a year and I truly miss this style of pizza in the world of NY Style pizza everywhere else.

I ordered a cheese pizza. I read a review before I went that said they’ve had better frozen pizza. It’s true, sadly. Probably won’t be here again. It’s definitely an interesting set-up but not that great for food. The people working were all nice. But I find it strange how you order your drinks in a separate line from the place where you order your food. Then they call your number out over the loud speaker and you walk up to pick it up.

I can get better quality and price in the pizza section of the krogers. The only reason this place is in business is the beer and old people. The midwest has stunningly bad pizza for the most part. Pepsi dominant house. Ice tea from post mix. My wife ate the salad and wasnt even a little jealous of the pizza.

My girlfriend’s family is from the area and Marion’s is an institution for them. Things I appreciate about Marion’s: There is a large seating area for parties and the prices are decent to cheap for a large quantity of food. The downside is that I don’t much care for their pizza. It seems tasteless to me, and it’s only technically pizza because it’s meat, veggies, cheese, and sauce, served on dough. All the components to a pizza are there, so where is Marion’s pizza lacking? No really, I don’t know. I would rather have Domino’s with cardboard as a topping, and I don’t even like cardboard that much.

This place is your typical pizza joint. Good food, good price, good for family time. Do not expect gourmet dinner or super long beer selection because this is not the kind a restaurant this is. I have been here several times and it is great for big groups as they have a separate private room but it is also great for smaller groups or families. You basically order the pizza and they call your number and you go get it and sit down, no mess no fuss :) They also have other things in the menu other than pizza but I have not had any of them. The pizza itself is great! It is thin and square shaped and they cut the pieces small. I haven’t had bad pizza here. Every time we go to Ohio to visit my in-laws we go to Marion’s I don’t know why this restaurant has 4 $ it should only be 2…

Unique Dayton pizza chain. Thin crust, tons of toppings, can get pretty greasy. Some swear by it while others don’t like it. It’s sit down pizza which seems rare these days. Huge tables are great for parties and large groups. Not bad prices for those either. Maybe even some arcades for the kids? Newer location very nice. Check it out, you might love it.

I don’t get it. After hearing all kinds of hype about this place, the actual visit was anticlimactic. We got a small pizza, half pep/sausage, the other half ham/sauerkraut(a recommendation from a friend). No jokes, the pizza was so reminiscent of Totino’s. Aside from the sauerkraut, which didn’t add any magic to the pie. We also got a Submarine, which was okay(and overpriced for just being okay). Fresh bread, various deli meats — one of which looked too much like Spam for comfort), tomato sauce, and banana peppers. No free drink refills on fountain drinks. *hideous* carpet — I mean eye-burning. Otherwise the interior’s nice. Small game room with about 8 games.

This is not the best pizza in Dayton. It’s not even the best pizza in my freezer. Maybe I’m just being a NY/NJ pizza snob but this is not good pizza. Tasteless sauce, poor quality cheese and sub-par toppings. The atmosphere was fine. Large ceilings, funky carpet, cafeteria style layout. Reminded me of a big NJ pizza place in the ‘80s. Staff was friendly and somewhat helpful. I found it odd that there were no beverage choices for kids besides soda but there was a multitude of alcohol choices… including forties of beer??? If you want crappy«Ohio» pizza, I would go with Cassanos or Donatos, not here. Al’s in Troy is of the same breed but better then all of the above mentioned.

I was in Troy overnight, from California, probably the one and only time I’ll be there. I love to try local pizza when I’m traveling and was torn between Marion’s and Al’s. I liked the pictures of Marion’s pizza that I had found on the internet so I went there. I had a large pizza, with onions, peppers and black olives. The toppings, except for the olives(canned, but that’s OK), were cut very small, something I’ve only encountered once before. I found the crust to be a bit underdone, but that gave it a chewiness I would probably come to appreciate more over time. The cheese and crust were crispy and well done around the edges, which saved it for me. The pie had a very nice look, and it made a great meal on a cold winter night, especially since I had to walk a mile or so in the snow from the hotel. With two draft Yengling beers, I could not finish the whole pie, but that beer went with it perfectly. I wish I had the opportunity to try some more combinations.

People have been talking this place up for years, and now that one has come to my home town, well naturally we had to try it out. It happens to be the biggest Marion’s to date, and I must say, the size was over whelming. The set up seemingly a little strange, as you order pizza or subs at one spot and then drinks at another, I deemed must be more for convenience than anything else. This being said, you don’t get unlimited drink refills. So it would be a pain in the kazoo to keep the meal line packed with people needing more to drink(oh and they offer beer, wine, and some mixed style drinks(aka Seagrams, Smirnoff… to name a few) on top of the typical soda pop. I say go for the pitcher of liquid refreshments… Now on to the pizza. We ordered the house deluxe and a sausage /pepperoni special, and I have to admit comparing it to Godfathers, or Hoagies… I give this a middle of the road. yeah! I cant figure what everyone has been talking this pizza up so much over the years, but then again I AM Italian, so maybe I have a harder line of what I really think is good. It may be for some people, but I would be hard pressed to want to make this a regular stop. Sorry Marion’s, you dont get into my top 5 pizza places.
