I had an out of town guest who wanted to go shopping at Somerset Collection. She loves steak and seafood and I thought this would be the perfect place to try. We arrived around 1:00pm which was a good time for us to have a choice to order from the brunch, lunch or dinner menu. There was a board near the entrance displaying several specials for the day. The décor was beautiful with warm tones, lots of wood trim and candle lit fixtures at each table. We were greeted and seated right away. Our drink order was taken immediately as we looked over the menus. This was the first time that we noticed that would be the theme of our visit; lengthy periods of time between our server visiting our table(minus one star). We asked about one of the specials on the board near the front door and was told by our server that she took the board down because«people were asking too many questions about the specials.» But she agreed to honor anything we’d previously seen on the board. A complimentary bread basket with warm sourdough was served. We both ordered the steak with lobster tail special($ 25.99) served with new potatoes. Half orders of the specialty salads were available as add one for a nominal fee. I tried the chopped salad and we also ordered a side of the specialty Mac & cheese. The steaks were prepared as requested. They were topped with béarnaise sauce which made them tender. Mac & cheese was tasty. The salad and potatoes were decent. The lobster tails were a nice size and were cooked perfectly. Our server forgot the drawn butter and did not return to the table or even walk past so that we could ask for it. After we’d eaten our entire meal, she showed up with the drawn butter and and apology explaining that the kitchen didn’t have it ready when she served our food(minus another star). All in all, the food was good, but the server was not the most attentive. There were excessively long spans of time between the time our server visited our table to check on us or serve our courses.

I came here with family for their Mother’s Day brunch. I came in with rather low expectations because i’ve never heard anything amazing about the place, and unfortunately they did not exceed those expectations. The salads were very basic, some saturated with too much dressing. In fact most of the entrees lacked flavor completely, and for a place that considers themselves a «seafood restaurant», ALL of their seafood dishes were terrible. The seafood crepes tasted very fishy, and the squid ink salmon mousse cones tasted like an ashtray. The chicken piccata was cold and didn’t even taste like piccata. As for desserts, they all seemed either store bought or from a package. I’m confident the cookies and small pastries were all from Costco as i’ve bought them myself before and recognize the flavor. While it was one of the less expensive Mother’s Day buffets in the area, next time I think we’ll pay a bit more to get a better experience elsewhere.

Started with a weak Gin & tonic. Appetizer oysters and clam chowder were standard quality, nothing special. Blackened trout with lobster was well executed. Seared salmon was tender and tasty. Jam on burger was overcooked and lacking any special flavor or character. Dessert lava cake and upside down apple/walnut were great, although portions got smaller recently.

Had the whitefish. A bit overpriced and totally underwhelming. Service was mediocre as well.

It was a beautiful thought to go there for Mother’s Day, the atmosphere was lovely but the food was a bit of a disappointment. The salads were bland(dressing was tasteless) The Salmon cakes were not seasoned, the majority of the hot dishes had no seasonings at all… the food was extremenly bland. They had an «orange cake» which was down right nasty… I would not eat there again sorry to say because otherwise its a beautiful place.

I wish I could give 3.5 stars in this review. I came here for a surprise birthday party. To start: The atmosphere is beautiful! The woodwork and the décor are lovely. The waitstaff to begin was very attentive. The surprise party started and we sat down at 7:45. After we ordered, we waited some time for our food(yes there were several people). I received my food at 8:55 and finished eating at 9:25, when I had to leave for another engagement. I had the simply whitefish, which is really what it sounds like — simply plain whitefish. They had a lemon butter sauce, but honestly this was so bland. No seasoning. No coating. Just whitefish. For a seafood restaurant, I was expecting more. I ate part of it and because of time and respect for he party, I didn’t order anything else. Overall, it was an average experience.

The restaurant itself was beautiful. Our waitress was very nice, but took way too long to serve us, and it wasn’t even busy, there were only four other couples in the area we were in. This wasn’t the only bad thing, I understood that the food was going to be expensive, but it tasted like the only seasoning that they used was salt and everything was mediocre at best. With the kind of money being spent I was expecting food that met my expectations, they weren’t that high to begin with either. I was so disgusted that my boyfriend and I didn’t even want to stay for dessert.

Décor is wonderful. However, wait staff, was just fair. For the amount they charge for food, the wait staff should be able to speak better English and at a decent volume so you can hear them. I thought I was on a cruise ship. I was just on a cruise in October and there was a lot of miss-communication with the wait staff there which was almost the same here, when you could understand or hear them. Again, at these prices, I expect the wait staff to know the fine line between interrupting and servicing the table. It may have just been our waiter because the table next to us had a waitress that was«American» and spoke good English, and loudly. Overall, the food was good. Although I thought it strange when the waiter came over and informed us that they did not have the 6oz filet available and would I like the 8oz or order something else? Just give me the 8oz for the 6oz price. No brainer. It also would’ve been nice if the waiter was able to pace the rate of food coming to the table. We were barely able to finish the appetizer when our salads arrived. The Caeser salad was not really Caeser. There was no hint of anchovie or even anchovie paste used in the dressing. Disappointing. I will probably return because I do love the décor of the restaurant, it probably won’t be anytime soon. I’ll give them a few years to see if they can match up the price with the service.

Us and another couple decided we want to go to a fish place. All 4 of us had not been there is a long, long time. My last time there was 20 yrs ago and the experience was so bad we vowed never to go back. Well we decided to give it another try. We arrived and was advised the only tables available were by the front door or a booth that would be very tight for 4 people. We chose the booth. We sat down ordered drinks. 20 minutes later we rec;d our drinks and 2 of the 4 drinks were horrible and not correct. We sent them back and ordered different ones and after 30 minutes more we still did not have them. We rec;d no bread waitress forgot. We did order calamari as an appetizer and our meals. The calamari was very good and served timely. It was an hour from the time we sat down, no drinks, no bread and no meal. We decided to cancel our food order and told the manager the issue and she pick up the tab for the 2 drinks and appetizer. While sitting in the restaurant we went on open table and went across the street to Ocean Prime and had a better experience, though more expensive. Will never be back.

The waitress or server name is Tiffany suck and had an attitude with customer when she couldn’t serve the glass of water right away because she was freaking busy. They are making tips to serve the customer she had no place to give an attitude to customers. She took almost 30 min to serve the water

Best happy hour! The perfect lemon drop martini is perfect! Also a great selection of eats for all budgets — edamame was great for $ 3 and bruschetta was fantastic for $ 6!

Happy hour at M&S is a good deal but the food is just ok. We ordered the mussels, bruschetta, fish tacos, and tuna tartar. The mussels had a good sauce but they were a bit on the small size. Not sure where they got those from but I would ask for my money back. The bruschetta was pretty good. The fish tacos were probably the best. The tuna tartar was horrible. It didn’t look very fresh and actually looked scary. I believe it also came with seared tuna which was also a little scary looking. We were surprised because the bar was empty at HH. Overall, we probably won’t be coming back and would suggest a better seafood restaurant.

Came here for happy hour and ordered mussels and the quesadillas. We were the only ones, apart from another couple, for the entire two hours we were there, which I thought was strange for happy hour. The mussels were very small and didn’t taste very fresh at all when they came out. They smelled somewhat old, so we requested to change it, and the staff nicely obliged. We changed the order to the calamari, which was extremely fried and came with few pieces of calamari and a lot of pieces of other veggies. The quesadillas were ok but nothing special. Not sure how the regular menu is, but I wouldn’t come for happy hour. The atmosphere is pretty dead and the food is definitely not worth the somewhat above average price(for happy hour).

Hubby and I stopped by for dinner. Seated quickly in a cozy room. Drinks served and order taken after a reasonably short time. 1st. Course was cold crisp Caesar salad, followed by hubby’s Sliced Beef Medallions with Borderline sauce. So tender, could have cut it with a spoon I had the Cedar Planked Salmon with an accompliment of Buerre Rouge. raspberry purée… sauce. delish !. Desserts was the fluffliest most creamiest New York cheesecake with sweetened fresh strawberries. Finnish the delightful evening with café a lait. Waitress was excellent., attentive withought being obtrusive. Restraunt was a bit cold so manager fixed it for us.

This restaurant is well worth the 4 star review, unlike most restaurants that have all the décor and awful food, this place focuses on the reason why consumers come go out for food. The new business scheme is to make your restaurant to look Intriguing from the outside without focusing on what the consumers are eating. Unfortunately most people fall for the«cool» decorations and don’t mind having an awful experience on the inside. The building on the outside is extremely misleading of the experience the customer receives on the inside. The food is extremely delicious no matter what is ordered. The seafood is incredible and the food in this restaurant is better than any restaurant at the mall. You definitely pay for the food you with the prices being on the pricy side, however for those of you actually trying to eat great meal this place is well worth a try.

My husband and I stopped in for the best happy hour in town. It is only eligible by the bar from 4−7pm, so I scoped the place out for a booth as it was packed around 6pm. I found one that still needed cleaning and asked a bartender if we could get it cleaned off. Within 2 minutes, someone came by and we were seated quickly. We ordered the BBQ chicken tenders to try off of the $ 2.99 menu. We didn’t expect much, but they came out with celery, carrots, ranch to dip, and 6 little pieces of chicken covered in BBQ sauce. These were really good and one of my favorite dishes we ordered. We also ordered a cheeseburger and fries for $ 5.99 and and the blackened chicken quesadilla for $ 6.99 to share. It was way too much food! The portion sizes are huge for this small price. The burger was ordered medium-well, but I sent it back because it tasted burned. Our waitress told us the burgers are charred, however, it tasted as if it was left on the grill a bit too long. We didn’t want it completely well done. She kindly sent it back and had it remade, it was inedible. When the new one came out, it was delicious. The fries were also fresh and perfectly crispy. The quesadilla came out hot and tasted great. It has a lot more cheese and vegetables than it did chicken, which was expected for the low price menu. It still tasted great though. In order to get this bar menu pricing, you need to order a beverage for $ 3.25 or more. I got a fresh made strawberry lemonade, which cost $ 5.00 and an additional $ 1.00 per refill. It was very refreshing and you could tell the strawberries are freshly cut before going in the lemonade. Overall, our food wasn’t too bad. For less than $ 30 you can get a decent dinner off this menu. One issue we did have was the service is painfully slow. We got there at 6pm and it was still busy from happy hour, but after 7pm when the places emptied out, our waitress was still hard to find. I had to wait almost 30 minutes just to get a refill on water and lemonade. We also didn’t see her when our food came out initially to tell her about the burger for about 20 minutes. We waited a lot longer than we should have and spent more time there than necessary due to the slow service. I would come back as the food is good quality, but I’d probably come earlier to beat the rush. The place could also use a facelift. Some other locations we’ve visited in other States are new and luxurious. This location is dated, from the sign outside to the interior décor. It wouldn’t hurt to spruce up the place.

Came here with my parents for dinner on a Monday night. We had made a reservation beforehand and were seated without wait in one of their mini booth rooms. Service was friendly albeit slow. I ordered the chef’s dinner special for $ 24.99 which included soup/salad, an entrée and dessert. Chose the New England clam chowder, beef tenderloin with shrimp, and crème brule. The soup was by far the best part of the meal. It had a good consistency with a very nice portion of clams though it was on the saltier side. The rest of the meal just went downhill from there. The entrée was mostly mashed potatoes with a little bit of green beans, 3 shrimp, and 5 small«medallions» of tenderloin. The shrimp and beans must have been cooked in a ridiculous amount of butter because the rest of the plate was practically drowning in butter. The beans were also mushy and overcooked but luckily none of the protein was. You could tell however that the beef was far from being tender. Even though it was cooked medium rare, it was very difficult to cut and chew because it was so tough and chewy :(Finally the crème brule came and that was absolutely awful. First it took forever to come out and when it did, instead of finding a nicely crunchy caramelized sugar top, it was super soft like it had been sitting for a while after it’d been torched. The custard underneath was no better and was not smooth at all. We also got the double chocolate mousse cake which was pretty good. My dad got the apple sea bass and mom the steak and lobster. Our family loves eating seafood and it was very easy to tell that all of the seafood served was far from being fresh. The lobster was ridiculously salty, enough that the only way we could eat it was with the pile of mashed potatoes that came with my meal. The steak was also disgusting with heavily charred parts and again, not very tender. All in all it was a very disappointing meal and we will not be returning.

McCormick & Schmick’s sits conveniently behind Somerset Mall, closest to Saks, sharing the same parking lot. During lunch one weekday, that lot was surprisingly full despite the cold and rain. A board announced«Power Lunch Box» specials, several entrées priced at $ 14 and under. I liked the restaurant décor, especially the slightly-enclosed booths, which offered a cozy, private place to share a meal. The lunch menu featured a wide selection of seafood including items from the oyster bar; crab, shrimp and calamari appetizers, and fresh fish entrées. For those who are in the mood for something else, there are also sandwiches, salads, and burgers available. I have a weakness for crab and avocado so the Lump Crab Tower appetizer fit the bill. Sweet and mild crab meat and diced mango sit on a base of creamy avocado. Micro greens top the dish. The appetizer was subtly flavored and enhanced by the basil oil and orange and balsamic vinaigrettes. As entrée, I thoroughly enjoyed the Parmesan-encrusted flounder, served with roasted vegetables which the restaurant graciously substituted(orzo usually accompanies the dish). The fish was flaky with a nutty taste enhanced by a lemon butter sauce. I liked the crispy capers that were sprinkled over the dish. The vegetables were excellently prepared. While the server recommended the crème brûlée for dessert, I have longed to have the Chocolate Bag so I indulged. The molded chocolate bag was filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with fresh berries and Chantilly cream. A raspberry sauce accompanies the dessert. The huge dessert is enough for four — so be prepared! However, I found some plastic(not sure from where — hope it was not too gross) in the dessert which definitely detracted from the meal. The other detractor was the cold bread that was served. Not bread that was«not warm» or not at room temperature, but actually cold. It was perplexing actually. For a higher-end restaurant, these misses were… interesting. Service was fine.

2.5 stars. We came here for their Troy restaurant week, so naturally we could only select from a limited menu. The quickest way to do this is to do a pros and cons, then list a few comments. Pros: — nice décor and layout. Clean with wooden beams and accents. Reminds me of more fancy places. — private booths(in case you want to be super-romantic) –nice wait staff. — real crab in the gumbo Cons: –had to wait over 25 minutes for our entrees. 4 people, and it wasn’t busy at all. The food wasn’tg cold, but had lost a lot of its heat. — lobster crepes were really cheesy. I mean, like, all I tasted was cream cheese. Was it injected with lobster flavoring? — my dish was OK, but largely tasteless. — soup was bland. — fried shrimp and fries were OK, but honestly Red Lobster makes it better. — The mussels in my dish were severely undercooked. But brownie points for using fresh mussels. But what REALLY irks me was that there’s no auto flush or auto faucets in their restrooms. What the hell? You have a guy in a suit to greet but you can’t afford auto flush? Honestly, I’d rather go to Texas Roadhouse or Red Lobster. Take your date here if you want a 2.5 star experience.
