What a little surprise this place was. I loved it! Stopped here after a little shopping to get lunch. We all ordered the famous Maurice salad. I had never heard of this but wow it was really good. Green olives, ham, turkey, Swiss and sweet pickles with a homemade dressing. This is a perfect salad with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. I was shocked that they served alcohol in this restaurant. The whole experience was great– food, prices and waiter. Will definitely be back.

The best place to have a good dinner or snack. Now you can have a cocktail with your meal.

Terrible service. The food was tasty enough, but you pay a lot for the Macy’s «atmosphere.» I ordered a pot pie, and after what seemed like forever, the waitress asked if it would be ok to bring out my meal without the pie top because the kitchen had sent mine out with another table’s order. I said ok because I didn’t want the other food to get cold. I got a bowl of what amounted to chicken stew, and managed to eat the whole thing before we saw the waitress again when she dropped off our check. She never did bring out the top of my pot pie. For the first time in ages, I asked to speak to a manager because I didn’t feel that it was right to charge me for a whole meal when I only got half of what I ordered. Eventually they agreed to discount half of my meal and we left after nearly two hours at the restaurant.

I had been to the Macy’s café at 12 Oaks before and this is not really the same — it’s not as sequestered, it’s more like a little dining area in the back of Macy’s. We went because we had a $ 25 gift certificate(you have to spend $ 37.50 to use it), and it was my first time going here. The food and waitservice was excellent — I got a flank steak sandwich and it was comparable to one I had eaten at Bastone(except that one had potato pancakes as the bread). This was on naan bread and came with a horseradish vinaigrette that was delicious. Also came with seasoned french fries. I would go back here but it’s a little pricey — not bad for the mall though, my sandwich was about $ 10.95, I think. My dad got a chicken pot pie type thing that was around the same price, and my mom got a portabella mushroom sandwich. I would love to go back here just to get a Sanders cream puff, as well — $ 5.50 on their dessert menu.

After a few solid dining experiences at Nordstrom in Partridge Creek, I was excited to check out Macy’s own restaurant. The«restaurant» is uninspiring, feels out of date and they don’t wash their dishes thoroughly — or at least check them to make sure they are before serving a cup of coffee with a bright lipstick mark still on it. Yeah, that happened. The restaurant is also not in an enclosed space within the mall, meaning you can watch shoppers just as they can watch you. It’s kind of weird. Food-wise, the menu items sound a lot better than they actually were. My friend got the hummus platter, which came with some puny veggies. I had the roasted harvest flatbread on grilled naan. The roasted butternut squash was great on this somewhat chillier day. It also had gorgonzola, arugula and maple vinaigrette. You can usually find a gift certificate if you must.

Holiday shopping and hunger is a mixture for disaster. Went here on a Saturday for late lunch and the serve was poor. There was no hostess and after getting sat, we kept watching people line up wondering where the hostess was. I think they only have two servers who weren’t very quick on their feet either. The food was pretty mediocre. From the holiday menu, we had the lobster bisque and it had way too much sherry in it. Also had the burger and steak salad. Both weren’t very impressive. Overall, I will not be returning due to everything about this place.

I used a Groupon to try out this fun little bistro in an obscure corner of Macy’s. I had the tomato basil soup, chunky tomatoes and excellent, Maurice salad, tartar sauce meets a partial Cobb salad, a unique and interesting flavor, and the salmon with asparagus risotto, great flavor yet overpriced. All was good until I arrived at dessert. An ice cream with chocolate sauce puff. The bread on the puff was stale and had a bit of a moldy taste. Too bad to finish that way, the main part of the meal was great. Service was fantastic! They must have gotten new servers since the last reviews posted.

Cons: out of mozzarella, chicken wouldn’t be marinated :(I wanted to try the Caprese chicken sandwich but no. I had the Carmelized Salmon, the rice was creamy but I had a sense I could make similar at home. The salmon was small as well. The spinach mandarin salad is a VERY small portion. I suggest buyin the dressing and making your own at home. Hot fudge cream puff– they nicely split it for us, but the fudge was cold and the ice cream was flaky and icey. My mom said it was better than she remembered but I honestly didn’t like it. Pros; attentive staff, informative. Burger lovers will love the BLT Jam Sandwich with the truffle sauce. Overall, unless you want a BLT Jam Sandwich just go to that fruigurt place next door. Very clean eating, not fattening. Don’t waste your money here

Well, what can I say about Macy’s Bistro that Lauren W hasn’t already mentioned. Though I too long for the good’olé days when it was still called Hudson’s, Macy’s Bistro has some of the most amazing food in the most obscure and unexpecting locations. everything on the menu is exceptional and the cheeseburger here is the best I’ve had anywhere(I shit you not… makes the overrated Redcoat burger look like Jack in the Box!). The Maurice Salad also continues to rain supreme in the salad kingdom. Oh, and we can’t forget the iced tea!(they put a little mint leaf in there for a little extra sumthin’ sumthin’!) You can change the name from Hudsons to Marshalls, to Macy’s, but you better not touch that menu! As Tina Turner would say, you’re simply the best!

Saturday at 7 p.m., hubby and I stopped in for a bite after shopping. No more than a dozen people were dining at that time. We waited 10 minutes for a hostess who never arrived, so we eventually just sat down at a table. Another 15 minutes passed before a waitress brought us menus(we watched her leisurely wash all the banquette tables before giving us menus). At this point, the hostess finally made her appearance – a few people were by now lined up waiting to be seated. We ordered and waited another 15 minutes before our chicken sandwich and salad arrived. We observed three people«working» at the Bistro that night – all seeming to compete to see who could work the slowest. Obviously no supervision at the Bistro!

I went just this week to The Bistro because of its convenience to the Mall and unfortunately my experience was not a positive one. My daughter and I waited at the«opening» to be seated for about 10 – 15 minutes when there were many open tables available. The servers seemed frantic and dishelved for no reason whatsoever. After being seated, service was poor. The waiter, was nonattentive and had to be flagged down to get a carryout container, dessert and the Bill. The food was slow(not the fault of the server of course)…but we ordered basically a burger & fries and spinach salad! The food was good… which is the ONLY reason I MAY try this restaurant again.

This may be corny, but this is my favorite place EVER to eat. It may be in Macy’s, but it will always be Hudson’s to me. In fact, my mom and I still call it Hudson’s. It’s our thing when we get together to eat here, even though the restaurant has many different names based on location. The Bistro, as it’s called at Somerset, has all the classic J.L. Hudson’s menu items from the past ranging from a homemade pot pie to the famed Maurice salad. My fave meal(which may be my last meal on earth if given the choice) is a glass of White Zin, a cup of Canadian cheese soup, a Maurice starter salad and a Sanders hot fudge crème puff to top off the meal. Amazing, homemade food. A special menu based on season/time of year generally accompanies the normal menu and always features a spin on classic standbys. Every meal I’ve eaten here has been great. Also, servers are always pleasant and willing to let you linger and chat. If you’re looking for a great/hip atmosphere, this place is definitely lacking(and so is Macy’s as a store IMO). You will be surrounded by older ladies — guaranteed. But if you’re looking for foodie heaven while shopping, give it a try.
