I ate her twice in a row for dinner. Both times I had the filet with the Caroline salad. I also tried French onion soup on one visit and found it to be hearty but slightly too salty for my liking. I did enjoy my steak, salad, and veggies. The one night I had the Kahlua strawberries for desert… SO good! I would’ve tried something else on my 2nd visit, but had been satisfied with the filet and decided to stick with it. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. It’s in the cute little downtown area. Service was prompt, friendly. I would say get a reservation because the difference between 2 nights in terms of how busy they were. My only complaint… which is more of an observation than a complaint… is that the menu prices were a little steep for what you get.

Not sure why they got top ratings here in Troy. Nice atmosphere, but the menu, simply put, is kinda lame. Nothing wrong, per se, just boring. This said, my expectations for exciting food in The middle of OH is probably very inappropriate. So I moved from a table to the bar where I was VERY attentively served by Amy. Hendricks and tonic make all good, but the shrimp cocktail was unremarkable. I recommend Basil’s, across the Market Street circle where I had lunch, instead. Once I finish my drink I’m heading that way. But know the service i recieved, and the service provided by Amy to those around me, was noteworthy.

I can’t believe I just spent $ 95.00 on the worst steak dinner I’ve ever had! Do not get the crab cakes! They were $ 12 for 2 small imitation patties. I was surprised by all the positive reviews of this restaurant, because I was seriously disappointed by the bland and over cooked potatoes. My steak however was still mooing when I didn’t order rare. They did have excellent dinner bread, although the little dab of butter was not even butter tasting; It was maybe some cheap margarine? I’m not sure. The clientele all seems to be above the the age of 40 for the most part, that’s the only reason I can explain the very bland food. I know that sounds awful, but it was so insanely BLAND. I will say that my waiter was awesome. Amazing customer service, and I really enjoyed him.

Food wonderful, atmosphere amazing and friendly — thank you Steve and Amy! Plus hanging out and chatting with locals made me feel very welcome! Best thing I have eaten in MYWHOLELIFE, Fresh Strawberries with Baileys Sauce. Steve, do you share recipes? Thanks for a wonderful dining experience!

My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. We started off with the pretzels and beer cheese. The pretzels were delicious. The beer cheese was fake imitation processed cheese. This doesn’t seem to go with the rest of the standard of the menu. I got to the special which sounded better than what it actually was. It was veal with a creamy citrus sauce and small shrimp on a bed of spinach. Side of green beans came with it, end up being the star of the plate. I personally would have preferred if the veal had a hunter sauce on it instead. My boyfriend got a steak, the Caroline he said. That was phenomenal! He got a baked potato as a side, he side it was good. We both got Cesar salads as a side, they were pretty good, not to heavy on the dressing. For desert we split the Dutch Apple Ice cream. We loved it! The waiting staff was a little slow, but not too bad considering they were busy. We would come back again sometime, but probably won’t get the pretzels and beer cheese again. Nice restaurant, for a nice town.

I’ve eaten at The Caroline a handful of times over the last couple years and I have yet to have a bad meal. Everything there is always delicious and I always look forward to going back!

Terribly slow service. Two hours to get our food. Half an hour to get a bottle of wine. Unprofessional bartender. No bueno.

I ate at Caroline’s last night with a couple corporate guests. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and it was as delicious as those I’ve had before. Both my guests had scallop florentine. Everything was superb! Both of my guests commented on what a wonderful restaurant I had chosen to take them! Thanks Caroline!

This was a cute place with free parking right outside. We ordered the filet which came with mashed potatoes and a wine reduction sauce crab bisque. I got the salmon with pasta it had some vodka sauce and A salad. A beer or glass of wine was included in our package deal. He liked his beer and i realky enjoyed the housr red. As for the meal it was good but not great. He liked my salmon dish better and I liked his steak better so we swapped. I’d had that vodka sauce before and forgot I didn’t love it. I liked his bisque better that the caprese salad … for me the tomatoes where tasteless and it needed more balsamic(but I didn’t ask for additional). The triple chocolate dessert was the highlight for me. came here during restaurant week. This is a bit far for us to drive and we are more familiar with area south of us. But that’s the fun of restaurant week try new things and places. First of all what a quaint cute little town. Seemed like Mayberry in a good way. I wish the shops had been open but evidently most everything closed at 4pm on sunday. There was a interesting sculpture in town but there for limited tine. Not sure if they keep displaying new scuplpture or if that was just a one and done. Anyway this was by a lovely building which I assume is the courthouse. All and all an enjoyable meal and evening but too far to go often.

Cold and burned food. Worst server ever by the name of Doug. The Caroline should be ashamed of themselves for the food and LACK of service we experienced today. My first and definitely my LAST visit.

Pretty good overall. Kind of tight seating in yhe dining room. The menu had s lot of the typical steaks and chicken. Everything tasted good though. The crab cakes were the best. They were mostly crab and not tons of filller!!!

What a great experience. Traveling on business and was looking for a good local establishment. The reviews were good so I wanted to give it a try. It DIDNOT disappoint. The prime rib special with potato and salad was excellent. The prime rib was perfectly prepared and seasoned. I wish was closer to my home it would be a great place for date night. Service was spot on. Could not have had a better first impression. Great Job everyone!

The Caroline is one of the better restaurants in Troy. They have a good variety to their menu which is predominately urban american. I prefer their lunches as they seem to be more reasonably priced for their quality. The Ruben Burger is terrific, and the Caribbean Jerk Chicken with manga salsa is my favorite(although, I believe it’s seasonal), and the Too Gouda Salad is a must. My only qualm, is that some meals don’t fit the standard of their others. Also, their customer service wavers. One night it will be terrific, another it will be terrible.

This is a good place for Troy’s square and I wish them more success than previous downtown attempts. They serve mostly American food but it manages to be an eclectic surprising menu. It’s a little pricey but good value for the portions. It can get pretty loud and is a bit cramped. Maybe they could rearrange seating for more comfort? The seared ahi, mushrooms, and flatbread pizza appetizers are good. Their salads are pretty standard and most entrée options I would call meat and potatoes. I’ve only tried their steak but it does not disappoint. The house steak is even boneless which is nice if you’re lazy or squeamish. They have a full bar with a wine list, and some house cocktails. Not as many draft options as I expected but Guinness was nice. Maybe there are 10 to 15 seats at the bar with tvs. I’d love to go back and try seeing a game there with a steak. It’s not quite a fancy restaurant and not quite a bar, but the food is so good that you’ll make it work for either. Actually, I had dessert which I never do save special occasions. The chocolate cake was pretty good but the coffee icecream covered in chocolate syrup and chocolate covered espresso beans was amazing. Definitely bumped up the whole experience for me(an icecream and chocolate lover) to 5 stars.

I was in Troy for the GOTR Stopover, so I feel like I have to give them the benefit of the doubt a bit-I mean we waited in line outside to get in; they probably did more business in that one day(Saturday) then they do in a couple of months. That being said, they handled the crowds really well and no one seemed overwhelmed or exhausted, even though there was still a line of people still waiting outside at 3:30 in the afternoon. They even honored the Unilocal check in discount and applied it to our whole party of four-I was quite surprised given the nature of the weekend. The food was good, pretty standard, but good. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with a side of stewed tomatoes. The chicken seemed a bit dry, but was fine. My only legitimate complaint was the tomatoes included for my sandwich-paltry thin, pale slices of Roma tomatoes. It’s the height of tomato season, and I couldn’t even get ‘real’ tomatoes?! The stewed tomatoes were good, not something I would typically order, but I needed something that wasn’t fried. Again, it was a limited menu for the weekend, in looking at the full menu online, it looks like they have some things I might have better enjoyed. It looks like their entrees might be where they shine. Our server apparently left sometime between taking our order and delivering our food. He told us he had only worked there two days when we asked questions about menu items. Luckily, another server picked up on the fact that we’d been waiting awhile and picked up our table. She was helpful and attentive. If I were back in the area, I would try this place again under more typical circumstances. Seems like an anchor in the Square of Troy. Thanks for having us and thanks for efficiency in dealing with crowds!
