Like William Sonoma stores except this one. I have never treated this bad by a store. They have Really bad customer service including the management

I love Williams Sonoma and buy my kitchen stuff exclusively here. This location however has a handful of employees with poor customer service skills. The Rochester location is better educated and understands what customer service means.

This used to be one of my favorite stores. The employees were always very knowledgeable about the products & helpful. I’ve been shopping here for years, & based on the staffing changes I’ve seen & the difference in the level of product knowledge, I assume management has changed &/or payscale has dropped. The employees do not know their products, & they are frequently out of stock of popular items. There are other Williams-Sonoma stores in metro Detroit, but I have never had a Troy, MI employee suggest checking with another store to locate an out of stock item. Recently, I spent about 15 minutes on hold(a weekday morning, not a busy time) just trying to confirm if they had something in stock. It took several employees to confirm they did, & it was clear the workers did not know their merchandise. When I arrived in the store, I was the only customer there, but it took 4 employees to find the item that was supposed to be held for me at the counter. I try to support the local storefront locations for businesses, but this week’s experience was one more reminder to me that it’s better to simply order online from . The customer service you would expect from the brand is lacking at this location. The employees are simply trained to greet, pass out food samples, ring up orders, ask for email addresses, & bag purchases.

Came here for a few technique cooking classes. They are free, one hour long(standing room only), demonstration only, but you get to sample the food & interact with the chef while he/she is preparing food. They do, of course, mention all the great products they are using that are available for purchase at their facility, and a convenient 10% discount if you attend the class. My advice is to sign up in advance, because you may not be able to stay if you simply walk in and they already have a lot of people. They also offer classes that you pay for, where you get a seat & refreshments but those are also demonstration only. Not bad if you have 1 hour to spare on something & you are in the neighborhood.

This is a totally gorgeous store(aren’t they all?) and probably one of the biggest I’ve been in – so many enticing products to dream about, drool over, and put on wishlists. And as usual, awesome customer service. I asked if they carried a certain product and the girl didn’t know but buzzed a coworker on her headset and had an answer for me immediately. I asked about another product I couldn’t find, and she spent a few minutes talking to me about where else I might be able to find it, where she’s seen them before, etc. I highly recommend this store for anyone with any sort of food or gadget fetish at all. :)
