I’ve been here a few times and have not been disappointed! It’s very fresh and a great value! I’ve been to Ronin in Royal Oak and this is just as good for much less of a wait!

I was surprised when I found this little gem. It is a small space that could very easily become overwhelming(or maybe even underwhelming?) I wouldn’t say that it is the best sushi in the area, but it is far from being the worst. Lots of decent sashimi and nigiri options. Very fresh. The bento box is pretty good. The service was a little slower than you might expect, but it was still pleasant. Prices are about average for a decent sushi place. I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to come back here, but should I find myself in the area again, hungry for sushi, I would consider it.

The beau and I needed our weekly sushi fix, but Noble and Aijshin were both closed for New Year’s Day. I browsed Unilocal to see what options we had near Somerset Mall since we had to go there anyways, and this was one of the options that showed up. I’m glad the Beau agreed, since they had pretty good lunch deals. I opted for the agedashi tofu starter and the sushi/sashimi lunch box(4 pcs. Nigiri, assorted sashimi, ginger salad, 1 pc gyoza, 2 pcs of a Cali roll, some chicken(very good!), small portion of spicy salmon, and seaweed salad. The Beau got the Troy and Michigan rolls combo, and the spicy tuna and special Cali roll combo. The Troy roll had eel and avocado, and the eel sauce, which was a bit sweet. The Michigan roll was good, but we wish there was not so much of the tempura crunch on top. The tuna and special Cali were pretty good. I really enjoyed my sashimi and nigiri, especially the salmon and tuna pieces since they were so fresh tasting and melt in your mouth! I didn’t see uni on the menu, but after ordering our food I noticed that they have it on their blackboard(i think it was $ 3.95/piece). Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will return.

It’s honestly very good, I love this place when I’m in the area! There’s so much to choose from. The serves is good. The price is average for sushi. The place is small, it’s not place where I would go with a large group of people. All in all a good spot!

Just normal sushi place. Nothing wowed me about it. I did not like how small the place is, you can barely pass by people without touching them .the service was good though.

UMYEA, so can you say underwhelmed. Next time I will read Unilocal a little closer before I go and have all these expectations… silly rabbit The sushi was very AVERAGE Nothing to tell a friend about. The place is dingy, I noticed a small strand of hair in my spicy mayo… Didn’t complain because it was just one of those nights I didn’t want confrontation. Thinking back I should have said something. Carpet is dirty. They brought out our food on this wooden display thingy and all I could think about was how much bacteria this thing may hold if not clean often and properly. It’s wood so it has pores so things are definitely gonna absorb. Bottom line I would not recommend or return.

So, visited again and tried the lunch version of chirachi. This is just many assorted slices of fish served upon Sushi rice. While $ 11.95, it is well worth it. Probably the freshest fish I’ve had in a while. Great service, quick service, and friendly service. Will return, as a matter of fact, nitt sure why it’s been so long since I was back!

In my opinion, this is the go to place for sushi on the eastside of Troy. My husband would tell you there are better places, but this is the one for me. The sushi and the service are consistent. I do wish they had a greater selection of rolls that didn’t have a bunch of mayo and cream cheese in them, but that’s just my personal preference. I can still find things I like. Also, I appreciate that they serve a true miso soup when other places around Troy are doing weird things like putting pork in their miso soup. Who does that?

Nothing overly special. Service was a bit ‘hovering’, canned sodas, no quail eggs and no liquor license. Food wasn’t bad, but fell a little short of what I was hoping to find.

Not at all what one would hope for 4.5 star rating. Service was okay but the food was nothing special. Ordered a number of rolls and they were just meh. That only one other couple was eating at 6pm should have been our first clue but hey… 4.5 stars on Unilocal. Then we used the bathrooms before departing for our evening party. Had we used the bathrooms first, we would have walked out without eating. Why? Food stored in the men’s bathroom UNDER the sink.

2.5 Stars. Sad to say this was a Unilocal fail. I try not to give any place a rating this low, but I found its rating to be so inaccurate, that I had to chime in. I am a big sushi fan and this place simply did not cut it. I was truly excited to try this place as it was so well regarded and close to my home. The staff was very polite and the restaurant was nicely decorated. They started us out with a house salad and cucumber salad. The ginger sauce on the house was very tasty, but the lettuce and cucumbers were a bit too old. My wife and I ended up splitting the Tempura Udon, Spider Roll, Rainbow roll and some octopus and eel nigiri. The Udon was pretty good. The noodles were well cooked, but the broth was a little thin and too salty. The Spider Roll was very large, but the quality of the crab was pretty poor. It tasted like they fried it in oil that was way too old. Moreover, I thought the fish was poorly cut and not fresh. Also the octopus they served me looked like it had been thawed in a tub of water and left in way too long. In short, it was a very disappointing experience, and I will stick to Noble Fish or Samurai Sushi.

I have a hard time digesting meat and seafood so I was very happy to be able to enjoy sushi without the meat. Having a menu that is full of options makes it easy to please people with different palates. I really liked their choices in sushi. There were so many to choose from. I ordered the Spicy Tofu, Dynamite, and the Egg Nigiri. It was fulfilling. Fresh ingredients and freshly prepared. My sister-in-law ordered the Yum Yum and the Double Shrimp. She also enjoyed what she got. The only thing that bothered me some was the lady/hostess who welcomed us in and gave us our menu, it was clearly noticeable how mundane it was for her. Although there wasn’t many people in the restaurant when we first got there she lacked a likable personality and in all honesty, dampened the atmosphere/environment. When eating out, I want to enjoy it all, the atmosphere, the food, and the service. I want to come in, eat happy, and leave happy so service is important to me. The other girl who brought out our food was much more pleasant and friendly. Overall: great choices in food and great food but lacking in service. Would go back and would recommend.

I’m so shocked at all these good reviews. Not only that but the way some people describe this place. I walked in and I was kind of wondering if I was in the right spot. This place is not«spacious» by any means. It didn’t look dirty but it was kind of dingy and in great need of updating. I took a seat at the sushi bar and waited for someone to bring me a menu. This place does not serve alcohol, FYI. I got water, a salad, 4 pieces of nigiri, and a spicy California roll. The service was excruciatingly slow. I felt bad because there were two of them for the whole restaurant and there was a large party. I was in there for almost an hour, mostly because I couldn’t get anyone to take my order and then I couldn’t get anyone to pick up my bill. As for the food, the salad was fine. Nothing special. The nigiri was a major disappointment. The fish was very fresh and the portion was generous however the person who made my nigiri put so much wasabi it just obliterated the flavor of the fish. The California roll was overly chewy and the«spicy mayo» was bland as hell. It cost me nearly thirty bucks with tip so I didn’t feel it was a good value at all. I won’t be returning.

Good place, good food and plenty of space. The service is ok, they should smile more. Seemed overworked and stressed. Otherwise it was ok. Took it to go, rather an expensive joint. Nothing to really wow about, just ok.

Ok so I’ve been to this place a couple of times, and I’ve been very pleased every time. The sushi here is amazing! I also tried the bulgogi bowl it was ok. It has a good flavor. The service here isn’t bad and the place is a small little place but never too packed and always accommodating. Definitely would come back here for sushi everytime and I suggest you do the same

Good sushi establishment in an area that isn’t really a sushi-Mecca. Oedered the seaweed salad and sashimi deluxe. Seaweed salad was your standard, pre-packaged fare. Sashimi was quite large with a nice selection of fish; tuna, yellow tail, butterfish, mackeral, salmon, snapper and shrimp. It also had unagi(egg) and fake crab meat(which I would have passed on, at least it was only one piece). The fish was very fresh and the unagi had the correct semi-sweet flavor of Japanese omelets. The meal came with miso soup(good) and a cucumber salad which was really not a salad but a few pieces of cucumber in a soy sauce dish and a little dressing. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Recommended.
