I had the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had with this owner at Cabonas. The owner of this store is an absolute jerk and the employees are his frightened cowards. We were visiting Tahoe/Donner on a family trip and I forgot to pack underwear. I needed some mens boxer briefs and I called this store at 5:55pm and asked the owner if he carried them and he said yes. I was three minutes away I got the store at 5:58pm and the door was locked. Apparently they close at 6pm. Both the owner and a woman(employee) were in the store. Through the door I politely asked her if I could please purchase two pairs of mens boxer briefs, I would be quick. She said sorry we’re closed. I could tell she felt bad but wasn’t about to make an executive decision while the owner was in the back turning lights off. I said please, I forgot to pack them for my trip and I just needed two pair… I would be quick and I’d pay with cash. She said sorry, the cash register is closed, I can’t do anything. I tried negotiating with her but she continued to tell me no. This went on for a few minutes. I was shocked that a paying customer with cash, at a high priced store was being turned away. Then the owner approached the door and he could see what was going on. In a frustrated and defeated manner, he opened the door and rudely said«Hurry up.» Surprised by his rude tone, I grabbed two pairs of boxer briefs within 30 seconds and he quickly rang them up. Shocked at the price of $ 55.00, I tried paying with credit card… he sharply replied, «No, you said you were paying with cash!» So, I put my credit card away and paid with cash. I mentioned how I’m a paying customer and was surprised that they’d want to turn business away. He said«We’ll since I let you in why don’t you write a good review on Unilocal.» I said I would and had he not let me in, I was going to write a negative Unilocal Review. He said«I don’t care.» What a jerk. That night I tried on the boxer briefs and damn it, they were too big. This means I’d have to go back and face this rude guy to exchange them! On top of it, he gave me no receipt, so I was preparing to him to tell me they wouldn’t exchange them… I get to the store and a meek employee is straightening jackets. I tell her, «I was here last night at closing and bought these from the owner and need to exchange them.» She timidly points to the back of the store and said, you need to talk to the owner. He comes out from the back looking at me with disgust and says, «What do you need?» As I tell him that I need to exchange these because I bought the wrong size, I put my hand out to shake his, as gentlemen do… He rudely ignores my hand and says«I’m not surprised!» WHATANABSOLUTEJERK. This guy takes the prize for being the worst service oriented asshole. Sir, why are you in the customer service business if you lack any of it. I really hope people read Unilocal reviews before they turn their hard-earned money over to an over-priced store run by a miserable store owner.

I walked in, and not one of the three employees/owners approached me, barely acknowledged me, or asked how I could be assisted. For purveyors of high-end clothing since ‘1918’ they have poor customer service. All I received was a hi back. And, an empty store, what a surprise… there was a beautiful sweater in the window that I absolutely loved, and a few others I wanted to purchase… If they read this review… At $ 219+ per article of clothing, say hello to your customers… irrespective of how they are dressed, on that day(torn jeans and a baseball cap). You did me a favor, I found the same items online, for a bit less… and I wasn’t judged by my appearance! Shame!

I like this store so ai am giving it **** Too bad they did not open on time today. After shopping in the cooking gallery I was going to stop in but discovered the rope was still across the entrance at 10;10 I had to be somewhere so I could not wait. You would think with a 10 am opening they could make that

We got there at 4:55pm and they closed down the store early. It said it was open till 5pm but the lady told us they are already closed. I was disappointed. The owner was still in the store and saw us trying to look at some shirts and didn’t even say anything. What kind of owner doesn’t like a customer who could easily become a regular client? He walked right by and didn’t say nothing. He obviously doesn’t need more clients. I had my boyfriend with me and he always buys top quality shirts. He was interested in few… Oh well.

I’ve been shopping at Cabonas for several years and have always had great experiences in the store. The staff is actually trained to help you, without pressure, define what you might like. They provide service, which is a lost art and, I suppose, would be off-putting to those who are most comfortable at Nordstom rack. The quality of the merchandise is high and the prices reflect that– this isn’t Ross or Marshalls. I love each and every item I have invested in at Cabonas over the years and feel very good when wearing these outfits that fit well and reflect who I am. Highly recommend this store to others who value and quality shopping experience and quality clothing.

Gayle recognized the dresses in the Carbona’s window immediately. They were designed by the same person who made here wedding dress and and another dazzling number that she wore at a friend’s wedding. The store itself features a nice selection of men’s clothing within one store front area and women’s clothing and accessories in the other part of this double wide business. Gayle’s friends also know the folks who own this and other Truckee businesses. During our visit we enjoyed chatting about Bay Area matters and the current slow business environment in Truckee. It’s all nice stuff and I would love to spend a little more time here and have Gayle’s help dressing me up a bit. Then it would be her turn…

Cabona’s isn’t usually my personal style(Ok, I have picked up a few sun hats and one skirt), but if you are looking for a beautiful gift for you mom, mother-in-law, or any other maternal figure, you’ll find it here. They always have in season, high-end resort wear and accessories. My mom-in-law found a beautiful Brighton bag here that I was actually in love with! They also have an equally impressive men’s department and the staff has always been very helpful and friendly.
