Needed help w fireplace and met Sam, service manager. Unbelievably helpful, informative and accommodating. This is THE place for fireplaces and firepits!

I have read the low reviews and am honestly confused as every interaction with staff has been great. I have had two Jotul wood burning stoves installed at two different homes on the West Shore and each time the experience was excellent. The last install was December 22^nd at our two story home in deep snow. Steep pitched tall roof covered in ice and snow and it did not phase Tom or his crew. I was convinced it would be delayed due to weather but they came through. Super professional crew, courteous and took great care to clean up. The bummer about a lot of Unilocalers is that love to bitch and this is the perfect forum to bitch. I would listen to the positive reviews. Solid group of hard nice working people. Will post some pictures of the finished installs.

Price is the best sales guy there. He knows his stuff and is extremely helpful! We were just stopping by to check out the store and had some questions. Super helpful and nice. We ended up getting lots of fun things for everyone in the family for Xmas too.

Poor customer service, poor follow up, poor attitude. I would not recommend them.
They took my credit card for hot tub service, then billed me. They billed the wrong address. I later needed service and they would not return phone calls. I called three times in one day and after the call the call was screened, I was never connected with the service department.
Poor and frustrating Service after the sale. By the way, they had no problem taking my money for the hot tub purchase.

Tom and the crew at MHC go the extra mile! We were looking for a wood burning fireplace insert for our mountain cabin, and had limited options with our zero clearance fireplace. They sold us an incredibly efficient, perfectly fitting, super toasty unit at a very fair price. On top of that, they traveled out of town to our «off the grid» cabin to do the install. The crew was polite, professional, and paid close attention to detail. They even stayed late to finish up the job so we could build our first fire that night, .and WOW! Could not believe how warm it got our home, with such a small amount of firewood. 5 stars all the way! Awesome!

Awful customer service and overall service. We purchased an expensive jacuzzi/​spa from here. Thought by shopping local, supporting local businesses would be a benefit, definitely not worth it. Considerably more expensive and their service was below sub-​par. Should have driven to Reno or Sacramento:(

Extremely arrogant and incompetent staff! There is at least 10 day wait for them to do anything and they overcharge you every change they got. An item that stove manufacture lists at $ 180, they charge you $ 280 for it. When you ask them about it, they laugh in your face. Never again!

If you live year-​round in the Tahoe/​Truckee area and are looking for a vendor of gas stoves to heat your home, you may wish to choose another vendor. We purchased a gas stove from Mountain Home in 1999; it worked well for about 10 years. The first time the stove stopped working (in the winter), it took about a week after our call for a technician to arrive and repair it. Recently, the stove again stopped working. There was a 10 day wait for service, while temperatures dropped below 20 degrees at night. The service technicians are all great guys and very competent; however, the inability of the company to provide service within a few business days after a call makes us wish we had either purchased a stove from another vendor or a stove that other local companies could service.

This is our go to store for outdoor furnishings, spa parts and supplies as well as indoor accessories and accent pieces. The folks are excellent to deal with. All our purchases have been great. They offer excellent consulting on selection, take care to get the order right, keep you abreast of status and deliver right on time. After sales support has been great as well. Our backyard looks real good thanks to their help. Make sure you check here before you buy any where else.

Great spot for your eclectic cabin decorating needs and a few good tourist items of remomborance you may not find anywhere else in town.

This place is huge, and we found a lot of cabin décor plus some great, unique pieces I would love to buy for our primary home.

Note to Kay K: There are indeed 16 good filtered reviews of Mountain Home Ctr. My guess is they were filtered because in all cases the reviewer has only 1 or 2 total reviews.
Now on to my review.
Passing throgh Truckee on the way to our mountain home, we decided to see if there was anything that we didn’t need, but couldn’t live without. Problem was the place is full of very neat stuff especially if you live in a log home.
Ended up with a metal rooster and the neatest freestanding five foot tall candle holder that looks old, but isn’t. Had to part with 4 Ben Franklin’s but I feel it was worth it.
The store is jammed full of decorating items. It is set up so you get lost is sort of a maze.
I found the staff to be helpful and friendly.
Will be back!

We live in Livermore and get a TON of stuff from Mountain Home Center. What does that say? I clearly love this store and the staff that work there.
Over the years we have bought all of our outdoor furniture from them, including bar stools, chaise lounges, dining tables and chairs, two sets of upholstered outdoor furniture (sectional for one part of our yard and deep seating chairs and matching ottomans for another area), the XL green egg smoker and our Vermont Castings.
In every case I found the staff to be very helpful (especially when picking out fabrics for the custom orders), knowledgeable (thank you for getting us into smoking with the green egg), and the prices were great. Their selection on all of this stuff is amazing! I wish we had a store like this in the Bay Area, though I do like making the trip up to Truckee and hitting my favorite store. In most cases, they were able to have our purchases/​custom orders delivered right to us. Even if there were extra shipping charges (not always the case), it was still cheaper to get it through Mountain Home Center, even if I could find it locally. And I’d prefer to give business to independent store owners whenever possible.
I noticed 16 filtered reviews, all of which had great ratings and I’m not sure why those would not be shown, but if you are reading this, I hope you click to see those as well. This is definitely a business I will continue to patronize!

I have been doing business with Mountain Home Center for the past 4 ½ years both professionally and personally. In particluar we work with Sam in the parts department. Sam is amazing! He is always happy help us with anything we may need and goes above and beyond to make sure that we have what we need. Sam is knowledgeable in all things hot tubs and takes the time to make sure you understand what you are getting or what you need. I would highly reccomend Mt. Home Center to any of our clients and friends and family. They are the best.

Their Service is the best!
I own a B&B on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe with 18 gas log fireplaces. Anytime I’ve needed assistance Sam is right on it. Thanks guys
