Dr Kao did a great job with removing the squamous cell from my face but it did not heal well so I had to come back for steroid shots. I’m not quite sure if this is due to something that Dr Kao did wrong or not. However, my main complaint for this office are the wait times. I’ve never waited less than 35 minutes even when I arrive early. I’ve actually waited for an hour when they said it would be about 15 minutes. The office seems pretty disorganized or it may just be that they’re not concerned about wait times.

Just over two years ago I found out I had skin cancer… at 26… on my face. It was devastating. My dermatologist referred me to Dr. Kao for Mohs surgery. Everything about my time leading up to the surgery and the day I was there was amazing. The waiting room, where you have to wait in between the rounds of surgery was comfortable, and my husband was able to settle in on a cozy couch. The staff is incredibly kind, the way the office ran was obviously organized and I feel that everyone I came in contact with truly cared about me. I had to go through two rounds, where they test the ‘margins’ of the sample to make sure all of the cancer cells were taken out, you can look up the details of the surgery on their website or online. I had tissue about the size of a frozen pea removed, and my husband joked that the stitches looked like a tiny elf had stitched them up, not Dr. Kao, they were so tiny and perfect. After I had my stitches removed the scar was healing quickly, and now 2 years later the scar is barely noticeable. Shortly after my stitches were out I sent them a thank you note to let them know how pleasant the whole experience was. Thank you to Dr. Kao and his staff for making one of the worst days of my life feel like a day at the spa, I certainly hope I will never need your services again, but if I do, i’ll be back.
