Lile North American Moving & Storage

Even in the middle of a 100 year blizzard in northern Oregon, they were efficient, helpful and did the job right. They pushed through the snow, arrived on time, checked in along the way, and they were prepared beyond belief for the extreme weather. To say I was impressed is an insult to what they were able to deliver upon.
All scheduling leading up to the move was highly efficient as well and it was great dealing with true professionals.

Unprofessional is the nicest thing i can say about lile movers. Inventory process was a joke considering 12 boxes were repacked by the driver. No check in process. Driver failed to estimate space on truck by a huge margin requiring a last minute uhaul truck. One worker was a self admitted felon. One unloader was clearly intoxicated. Lost items were denied. Items were broken and damaged. Weight was 2000 lbs over three estimates. Claims process was arbitrary. Avoid this company. Not trustworthy.

Once Lile gets your signed contract, they are unresponsive and unaccountable. They will not return phone calls or e-​mails. They quote one price and then charge a higher price without explanation. «Bait and switch» They change your delivery dates on the contract. They will not let you know when they will deliver. We got a call at 10 pm, by the driver, the day before delivery. Try to get a cashier’s check which is required at delivery or pay $ 400 more by credit card. Lile North American is a totally unregulated business. At delivery, they denied damage. They deny responsibility for damage. It is a mess. We have not heard anything from them since they got our signed contract. We have not even heard about damages. Nothing. Who is protecting the consumer? North American Van Lines is protected by the Dept of Transportation. The consumer is forced to read the «Right and Responsibilities» of the consumer, but what are the responsibilities of North American Van Lines? Stay away from Lile. Stay away from North American Van Lines. This review was for a interstate move from Tualatin, Oregon to San Carlos, California. Lile North American is totally unprofessional.

I worked with Mike Shell who was incredibly nice and went back and forth on quotes with me until I found the best blend of services for me to move from San Jose to Portland. I could have shipped my car but decided to drive it because we needed the trunk space to shlep important super secrety paperwork stuff and breakables and our luggage. Of course, no move occurs without terror, and Mike did send the wrong quote to the movers, so the movers came a day later than I planned. No big deal, we gave ourselves extra time to pad for trouble, and Mike was incredibly apologetic, even when I called him at home on Sunday during Memorial Day weekend and said to him, «Uh oh, I think there’s a problem!» It was annoying that I had confirmed the move date with Lile, and the driver had something different, but I think this is a rare occurrence and happened because of the numerous quotes that went back and forth. The quote I signed was honored, and even came in less than quoted because we didn’t have that much stuff, so my company, who was footing the bill, got a break.
Brian was our driver, and I HIGHLY recommend him. He was pleasant, courteous, worked well with us, and had a great sense of humor. He got everything to us in three days, which is super quick. Everything made it with every box accounted for, and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, was broken. Brian’s coworker, Thomas, was just as pleasant and professional. They are the nicest guys.
The only reason they don’t get five stars (other than the pickup being a day late, but whatever, stuff happens) was that I specifically asked Lile for the couch to be wrapped in plastic and it wasn’t, so now there are big smeary hand prints and dirt all over it and I’m going to have to get it professionally cleaned and pray that the stains come out of the sand colored fabric. I should have said something when Brian and Thomas carried it out unwrapped but I just didn’t think about it, as I was in the middle of cleaning since we were running late, due to the late pickup, and the apartment inspection was later that day. If I were to do anything differently, I would have said, «HEY, are you going to wrap the couch?» first thing when they walked in, but hindsight blah blah.
I would use Lile again, but would verify with Lile AND driver the pickup date well before the move date, and would communicate any special requests directly to the driver.
