I prefer PetCo so much more than PetSmart. Yes they’re pricey, but they price match online (PetSmart doesn’t) — and their staff goes out of their way to help as soon as you walk in the door.
Tonight a manager at this PetSmart told a customer next to me «tough luck» when they asked about a price match online — then refused to accept a return of a pricey «long lasting» dog chew I bought that lasted minutes — despite a cashier telling me to just bring in the packaging when I asked about it on a previous shopping trip. I left about $ 35 worth of stuff at the checkout (over a $ 4 return — not very smart) and told her I’d never be back. She couldn’t care less.

I’m incredibly upset with my dogs hair cut AND the fact that she cut a chunk out of his ear and did not even bother to call or let me know about it. Pretty pricey hair cut for a horrible cut that wasn’t completed! I asked for his facial hair to be clipped and the rest of his body. Apparently she wasn’t listening because she shaved his body only and «trimmed around his face».
Never again will this place receive my service. My poor dog’s first experience at a groomer and this crap happens.

I’ve used their services multiple times and past experiences were positive, however, my recent experience was concerning and scary. I was told by both the Pet Hotel and Banfield that they could have my dog do his yearly Banfield check up while he was boarded. I arrived to pick up my dog and the Pet Hotel didn’t know where my dog was… I asked them if he was at Banfield. They weren’t sure, but called to check. (My dogs appointment was at 9am at Banfield and I picked my dog up at 5pm). It turns out, he was at Banfield, but shouldn’t a Pet Hotel know about the where abouts of the pets they are watching?

We took our labradoodle to the groomer to get shaved and they cut his hair down to the skin. What we originally thought was razer burn was actually ringworm. After a vet bill, doctor visit for myself we called the store. The manager was very apologetic and ultimately offered a refund of the groom and a gift certificate. All fine and we’ll but what about my dog? He still has ring worm, can’t interact with us, can’t go to doggy daycare, it’s just awful. If you take your dog there to get groomed demand clean clippers and a clean holding kennel.

My experience at the grooming salon has always been consistent and I’m extremely pleased! Our dog doesn’t like getting his nails trimmed so they gently muzzle him. It only takes a few minutes and it’s quickly taken off. Ask for Courtney!!! For those of you with large breed dogs will understand the value in taking extreme care of our big loves! First I would like to explain my husband and I have been almost exclusively Petsmart customers for over ten years, but after our recent move to Tualatin we have reconsidered after two visits to the Petsmart here.
The first time right after we moved here in December we went to Petsmart to buy some food for our cats. We noticed that the Nature’s variety dry food was on sale, buy one get one free. We picked up two and proceeded to checkout. We noticed our total was about 30 dollars higher than we had expected and asked the cashier if they could look. He said. «I don’t know you’ll have to look at your receipt» I had chosen to have my receipt emailed to me so we couldn’t look at it for a couple of minutes. But when it came it said they had not given us the second cat food for free. We brought the food back in and the manager walked back with us to the sign that said buy one get one free. Unfortunately the sign was on the bottom shelf and when we looked really closely it did say «Buy one get one free» in large red print, but it also said «buy one bag of food for $ 30 and get one small $ 1.99 can free» in the smallest black print I have ever seen. This was the moment we realized we are not petsmart customers anymore. We returned the food.
Unfortunately we had to go back because our vet prescribed a prescription diet formula and they don’t sell that at petco. While looking in the store for the food I stumbled across a lot of people walking their dogs around the edges of the store. I think it was some sort of training event. But during this time people were walking some huge, poorly behaved dogs past the cats they had for adoption in the back. I even saw one kid start to harass the already hissing and shaking cats by banging on the plastic. His dad did tell him to stop, but the kid replied «but its hilarious» (disgusting, if I had ever said something like that as a kid my mother would be in jail for the beating I would have gotten and deserved). But my problem here is not with the bad kid or the dogs but with Petsmart. They should have already had an employee back there to make sure they weren’t abusing the cats they have up for adoption. I did tell the clerk and he seemed like he cared but it shouldn’t have come to that. This store just can’t get it together.
On the other hand I have found that Petco in Tualatin is a great place with an ideal shopping experience free of animal abuse and improper signing.

We recently experienced a terrible grooming experience here followed by inadequate customer care.
While on the way to pick up our four Yorkies, we received a phone call in which the groomer let us know that she «nicked» one of the Yorkie’s ears. Her exact words: «I just nicked the very tip of it.» They brought her to the vet & the vet let them know she was «fine.»
However, after bringing all four Yorkies home, we discovered that her injury was far worse than a small nick. Her ear began to bleed again, & she had a chunk of ear missing. We immediately called the location & got the runaround from the Grooming Manager. There were a few points of concern, including:
— Why weren’t we called immediately when you «nicked» the ear & she had to be taken to the vet?
— Why did you misrepresent the severity of the injury?
— Why didn’t you go over the injury with us when we arrived at the location?
She kept repeating, «How can I make this better?» — obviously missing the point of the conversation.
Pure negligence on the part of the groomer & the manager. Completely unacceptable.

We left our dog there in June. They charge extra for almost everything! We think our dog was not even walked anytime when she was there for 2 weeks. When we picked her up after 2 weeks she was a completely different dog for weeks after that. She was very withdrawn and lethargic. We seriously felt like she was in prison for 2 weeks… poor thing!

We have had our dogs boarded here several times. It is not our preferred kennel especially for long trips since it is all indoors. But for a quick trip to Seattle this is the best place to take them to with their generous Sunday check out policy. Only $ 17 for both dogs to pick up between noon and 6pm. I like the little progress report they give when we pick the pups up. Overall, I trust this location to care for my dogs when I travel.

This is a good Petsmart.
I boarded my dog at their Pet Hotel for a five night stay. She was extremely happy and excited when I picked her up, but my German Shepherd was exhausted and was ready for bed by the time we got home. They kept her busy, well taken care of, and called me at the first concern about a potential medical issue that I had to reassure them as being normal for her. When I passed by the Pet Hotel on my next visit, she would perk up happily and get excited…
I also came here to get my dog certified for the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen title. While it was just to take the test (I didn’t attend any of their training classes), the trainers I interacted with were wonderful, good people. I can’t vouch for their effectiveness as trainers, but I can say that they are definitely people that care about what they’re doing, which is a good sign.
I’ve never had an issue with the grooming department, but my dogs are pretty easy-​going when it comes to grooming.

We use the pet hotel for boarding our pet while out of town and the staff has always been friendly and attentive.

We were given mixed information from the first phone called making a reservation. Mostly uninformed staff and one particular young woman wa just lifelessly disinterested to the point of rudeness. We dropped our tiny Pom mix off for grooming and she came home with a huge chunk of fur missing behind one ear. Down to the skin bald patch. She still looks awkward and it’s been a few months. You look at her straight on and her ruff is missing in that area.
We also tried the doggie day care. She seemed stressed when she was done and. I wouldn’t take her back there

Not sure if this was my dogs fault or PetSmarts fault. So, I have a 14 pound Norfolk Terrier named Happy and he is just that. Despite being a rescue dog, abused, and hit by a car, Happy s a very loving, docile pooch… except when he is at PetSmart. We took him to be groomed yesterday. They told us to pick him up three hours after the scheduled time and called us half an hour later claiming he is unmanageable. We had warned them ahead of time about some of his tendencies but they said it took 4 people to restrain our little pup. He was apparently being very aggressive so they couldn’t do most of what we asked of them. They also told us never to bring Happy back again and that they weren’t going to charge us for the visit. We immediately went to go pick him up and were greeted by a very negative groomer and a bill. We don’t mind paying for services but they charged us a lot more than what they worked on. They didn’t even shave him all the way. The manager was very agreeable and gave us 50% off due to the half done job. So we decided to finish the job at home. Guess what, at first Happy was a bit squeemish but after a while he behaved wonderfully. And what’s more… we noticed some new bruising and red spots on his belly. We don’t know what exactly happened but I wish I had taken Happy to a more humane groomer.

I witnessed a groomer (through the glass) being VERY aggressive with a small Yorkie today and was extremely upset. I asked to talk to the manager and was not met with a pleasant response. I was literally AGHAST as I saw a female groomer yank the muzzle of this small, sweet dog around to groom the other side of its face. I was nearly in tears and the two Petsmart workers who I spoke with were extremely uninterested about my complaint. In my experienced dog owner opinion, there is never a time to be that aggressive when handling an animal, especially a smaller dog. I am planning on calling the management and reporting this. So, that was solid proof and undeniable. More subjective: none of the groomers looked like they were enjoying their job. It was sterile, the animals were all shaking and shivering, the groomers did not appear to be fazed by any of it. Such a terrible environment. I would NEVER want my pets going here. Stay far, far, FAR away. I’ve never seen anything like it.

I had the exact same experience as another reviewer on this site. Dropped off my dog and asked to keep the fur long. I didn’t want the head trimmed as I wanted to keep the moppy head goldendoodle look. When I came back to pick him up he was cut short and looked like a poodle. I specifically said I did not want this! Mary Kay obviously does not listen to her clients. Won’t be going back.

I am crying I am so upset with how my dog looks after going to get only his legs/​paws groomed! He had long shaggy hair…they were told to cut only his feet NOT his body and he now looks like a poodle! I guess I won’t be sending out Christmas cards — he looks horrible! I am SO upset. I was very clear on the instructions and MaryKay even repeated them back. I didn’t even think it was my dog when I got him back.
DO NOT GO HERE FOR GROOMING. .. ..

We left our 7 year old dog (german shepherd/​golden retriever mix) at the Pet Hotel at this location for 5 nights and we were very happy with their hotel! We use to board him at a farm, but last time they lost him and we had to cut our vacation short to come home and find him, thank goodness after 1.5 days in the cold here in OR he was found and mostly unharmed. I looked for an indoor only doggie hotel after that and came across Pets Mart hotel, and although at first I had my reservations about a pets store hotel, I was impressed after visting and talking with the employees their. Great customer service and totally set my mind at ease! No way he can get out of that place and I knew he would be well cared for. He will chew his side if he is nervous or scared and he came home with no signs of that so we know he was taken care of and he was happy!
I would highly recommend the Pet Hotel to any pet owner while they have to be away from their pet, peace of mind!
(I have to agree with some other reviews that the PetsMart retail customer service inside this location is lacking, but INSIDE the Pet Hotel you will be very happy with the customer service.)

Not impressed with the grooming part of this PetSmart.
While I prefer to take my dog to Urban Fauna, they were totally booked, and I am getting ready to leave the country for a few weeks. My furry golden is in need of some serious TLC in the grooming department.
I called ahead and scheduled an appointment. I always carry my dog’s records with me, so I thought I wouldn’t have a problem bringing him.
So, I drove all the way out there to find out they screwed up the schedule and did not have me on the books. Then, when I tried to get him in, when I showed them the vaccination schedule, they said they do not groom dogs within 48 hours of receiving a shot. Considering I had talked to the person the day before to confirm his appointment, and mentioned that he just got his bordatella, and they said nothing to me, I was pretty pissed.
Their customer service was terrible. The girl behind the counter was talking to me like a 5 year old, but her comprehension was clearly that of a 5 year old, since she had to ask me 6 times what service I was asking for (wash and cut). After awhile, I just wanted to slap her for not listening to me, and for being so not helpful.
I will stick with Urban Fauna and learn to plan ahead. And, Urban Fauna is much more reasonably priced, has cleaner facilities, and much nicer staff.

This is the cheapest place I’ve found to purchase Swheat Scoop. I buy 40 pound bags for the same price I see 25 pound bags in other stores… Now this causes some moral problems because I’d prefer to support local stores but when you have two cats, it’s such a savings…
Also, I like to buy Kong Natural toys for my cats and they have one of the best varieties I’ve seen. Sometimes they hit the clearance end-​cap so I can score great deals on the toys or I bought a comfy (or at least one cat thinks so) pet bed by that brand.
They don’t carry raw food and the rest of their food is mostly crap masquerading as quality cat food for roughly the same price. (Almost all of it has grain and usually as the first, second or third ingredient…)

While I would love to only patronize local pet stores, for my inexpensive purchases the convenience of Petsmart is just fine. I figure my monthly $ 1.20 purchase of crickets is not going to make the difference for a local vendor.
I’ve been coming to this location since they opened and prefer it to the Wilsonville location. The main reason is that they have several guys on staff that are reptile enthusiasts. My son always wants to go to this particular Petsmart and shoot the breeze about his next reptile purchase. Amusing because he is not normally my chatty guy.
So I appreciate that the staff here is personal, helpful and accommodating. I’m sure this isn’t universally true, but since those are the services we are interested in, we’ve been lucky so far.
Always wish these stores had a broader range of specialty medicine for my dog. But then again, that is an expensive purchase and for that I do go to my small family-​owned local pet store. They don’t know much about the herps.
