I have only been buying from schwan’s for a few months. The few orders i placed were handled well, but are over priced. I am a senior male. I don’t cook, so I order pre-cooked meats etc. Previously went to costco. there prices are cheaper, and better quality. But it is easier to have it delivered. First i entered a search for pre-cooked burger patties. I bought the one at the top. which was NOT pre=cooked. i figured my mistake. My next order i got a emailed $ 10.00 coupon. There were no restrictions listed. I filled out the order, then it said i had to buy $ 50.00 worth. That is a lot of food for a single person. I got enough for $ 25.00 which was only $ 5.00 off. when it was delivered, one item was not in stock, so they added the $ 5.00 back on plus the delivery fee. I quit buying from them. the driver came by an asked why i hadn’t ordered lately. i told him why. he said call the toll free number and they will«make it right». i did so, and was told that is how it is. so my boycott continues. I saw other complaints about customer service, so i am not alone. They are willing to lose a customer over a «bait and switch coupon. I will return to costco for my food.

They are very punctual and come every two weeks. You just go to their website, order, and they will email you confirmation and a delivery time. If it doesn’t work you can reschedule with no problem. Their food is excellent!

My in person customer experience with the local delivery driver, Paul, has been excellent. He does a great job of communicating, making suggestions, etc. However, the reason for my lower rating is a result of my frustrating overall customer experience through the website and over the phone with their representatives. In particular, after deciding I wasn’t going to place regular orders and didn’t want to be on their regular delivery schedule, it has taken far too much of my time to be removed from their contact list. First of all, you can’t remove yourself from the delivery cycle in person with your driver or on their website. The best you can do is keep moving out your next scheduled date when you receive the email reminder. This was roughly 3 emails a week telling you about specials and to place your order before your next delivery, etc. So after waiting on line to talk to a representaive, I clearly conveyed my request not to be contacted by phone or email unless I placed an order and the emails kept on coming. So, yet another call needs to be placed. There were certainly some items that our family liked on their food list(esp. the multitude of ice cream flavors and treats), but many of our overall food needs are met for a lower price at Costco or the local grocery store. Also, everything they sell is frozen, so I didn’t feel comfortable making so many meals from frozen food. There was one item we ordered that I really disliked. And rather than be able to resolve it in person through the driver, you need to contact the company and talk to a representative, go through a questionnaire, etc. and so on, then return the food to your driver. After a couple of these experiences, I’ve put them in my ‘more trouble than they’re worth’ category of services. Personally, I would like the company to empower their delivery people to be able to handle these types of customer service issues, rather than have customers jump through hoops at corporate.

I have been a schwans customer for about 25 years. I think it used to be just ice cream. The ice cream is the BEST. And they carry some flavors I’ve never seen anywhere else– like Confetticake. It’s vanilla ice cream with bits of cake, blue frosting, and colored sprinkles. They have a lot of dishes you would normally find in restaurants but not in the frozen food section of the grocery store. The selection is very good, and they have seasonal items too. You can order online, by phone, or in person. I like to order online, but my rep is awesome about letting me add to my order on the spot. The prices are what you would expect for restaurant food delivered, because that’s what it is, except that you store it in your freezer and make it fresh when you want it. They even have special diet items, «livesmart» is their diabetic line of products. And they also have some gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan stuff.
