this place is a find. The food is REALLY good. Genuine Italian. We were there w a large group and they were very helpful. The portions are ENORMOUS so don’t over order. If I went back again, I would go family style and order less. Service was very good — constantly refilling our water glasses. Food came out a little on the slow side but it was worth the wait.

Started with spedini and asparagus special, all fresh and very tasty. Portions large enough that there were plenty to take home for lunch. House wine left something to be desired but our server was more than happy to replace, next time will get a bottle. Hit all the right notes for Italian home-cooking. Can’t wait to try the veal parm next time.

Great old school Italian in Tuckahoe. Drove up from Bridgeport Ct for lunch on Tuesday. Small intimate dining room, very cosy. I had Mussels Fra Diavolo, which was full of garlic it was excellent. Came with a salad and vegetables on the side. Everything was fresh. Had a glass of Chianti, and finished with an espresso with Sambuca. Great experience. Paul, the owner introduced himself to table, made sure everything was o.k.Class act. Will be back with my Father.

We were a group of seven and noticed a baby roach crawling on the molding. In addition to one wife freaking out the service was exceptionally slow. The veal parm was sent back to melt the mozzarella and not only did they burn it, it took them a half hour to let me know that they burned it and we making me a new one. By that time everyone else finished and I packed mine to go. Nothing was taken Off the menu to compensate for the above issues. I’ll not be going back there again. Food was tasty but the service was bad bad bad

I regret having to write this. But in a recent visit we had a horrific experience. First we were seated next to a party of middle age men who were drinking heavily and dropping f-bombs left and right. While I can overlook that, they didn’t seem to notice my 7 and 5 year old were there… or they didn’t care. After being moved, we ordered our favorite the stuffed artichoke. It was terrible. They overloaded it with cheese that was spoiled, and seafood that tasted spoiled. One of the shrimps looked severely undercooked. I never send food back but had to. The chef said he would reheat it and send it home in doggy bag. It gets worse. We ordered pasta with shrimp. The pasta was so undercooked it was literally raw in the middle. Now I don’t mind al dente, just not raw. We asked to have it reheated. Instead they made the dish from scratch and slopped it together. It was so bad we could not eat it. I was shocked. Never had such bad food here. There was no apologies, nothing taken off the check, and no comps. The waitress was completely clueless and had no idea what she was doing. Couldn’t even speak English. Like I said, I regret writing this. Maybe it was an off night, but truthfully, I am never going back.

Had to give it 1 star. The food was ok. Kinda like a pizzeria. The wait staff was atrocious. We got there early on a Sunday and ordered a picture of soda. Instead of running out the lines they gave us the shit that sat in them over night. When we complained the waiter said thats how it taste when you pour soda from a gun into a picture and than a glass. So full of shit. When we begged for bread they finally brought us the hard ends. The $ 20 specials were so disappointing 3 small shrimp on a plate with sauce made from real lemon lemon juice. Mushrooms from a can. It just sucked. Than when the bill came they put their 20% on it including the tax. This place used to be ok but really went down hill. Dont waist your time.

This place is awesome. My new favorite Italian spot. Delicious food, cute, and not too pricy.

The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating, almost to the point of it being annoying, but I chalk that up to a lack of communication between the waitress and bus boy. My food was great, the environment is very laid back and the chef is a very nice guy. I was lucky enough not to have to pay the bill for this meal so I cannot report on pricing. Overall I’d say it’s definitely worth a try!

Don’t order chicken scarpiata unless you like sweet and sour sauce. Authentic décor and great tomato sauce

Got calamari which was super delish. Not greasy. The texture was not too chewy or tough. Then we had the pasta vongole and seafood vodka. Loved adding the parmesian cheese and red pepper flakes to add a kick. I like my pasta a little«not salty» so I can salt it according to my taste. Nothing ruins pasta for me more than oversalting. Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. The salad though could be better and the service could have been a little faster(but perhaps I was just hungry haha). I recommend the pasta, calamari, and the bruscetta platter.(Which we got complementary! Wee! Free food!)

Chianti is a perfect place to go get a bite, sit and relax at the bar or simply get a drink. The food is really good and the staff are great.

Food is fantastic. The service leaves much to be desired. Don’t ask«is everything alright?» It’s your job to KNOW that everything is alright. Despite any flaws, the food really is amazing. It is classic NY/NJ Italian-American done perfectly.

The reviews looked great, so we stopped in for a late dinner on a Thursday night. I would say that overall the food is very good basic Italian. The menu needs an overhaul, as it looks like a diner menu. Very nice sauce and good values. My husband loved his shrimp Parmesan. Pasta was cooked perfectly– I cleaned my plate! The salad was iceberg lettuce with a bit too much dressing. The coffee was fresh. The overall issue is that the service was slow and inattentive. Our server seemed to spend all of her time hunched over checks, since there seems to be no computer system. She was very nice, but absent. The owner/chef came out to see how everything was– a very nice touch.

If only I could give zero stars. The pretentious manager thought it was a smart business idea to have his customers wait 50 minutes for a table while the restaurant was empty. The food is average, at best on a good day. A soup kitchen has a warmer atmosphere. The bartender never once asked us if we wanted a drink during our 50 minute wait. The silverware was dirty, the water glasses had lipstick stains. This was the biggest disappointment of my weekend. Save your money.

«Unremarkable» at best. Nothing was bad, but not a single thing was good either. Lacklusture and dingy. Boring and aged. The food was just ok. The waitress was an eye-rolling type. We ate and left and will not ever go back again. I give it a ‘C’ grade.

If you like delicious Italian fare, intimate atmosphere and excellent service, then you have to check out Chiantis! From our first time here, we knew we’d be regulars. The specials are always creative and change constantly. The staff is inviting and can’t do enough for you. Even the chef/owner, Paul, comes out from the kitchen to make sure everything is perfect. Don’t think twice — this IS the best choice! Enjoy!

I would easily give this place 4 stars but it was the slowest dining experience I have had in a long time… maybe ever. We had a reservation and 5 people and it took us at least 3 hours to get out. Freshly prepared food takes time, I get it, but you should try and keep our glasses full(bus girl did a great job with waters but drinks from the bar were hard to come by). I will say that the staff was friendly and polite. Also parking is tough. Maybe it was just an off night and if we come back again I hope to upgrade my rating. On the plus side they had very good old school New York style Italian food. All the dishes were very well prepared, large and came with both salad and side. Their beer list included a local beer from just crossed the street which was cool. Atmosphere is that of a cozy neighborhood place and as I said earlier staff was very friendly.

Years ago Paul had a restaurant in Mt Vernon. We went to eat there one evening with my husband and 6 year old daughter. My husband and I ordered 2 main dishes and my daughter did not want to eat. When the meal can out I asked for a plate in case she changed her mind. Well she never did. The plate was still clean. Food was not what I expected. We asked for the tab and there was an extra charge for sharing. I tried to dispute it by telling the waiter that the plate was clean. He came back after speaking to Paul and said it was his policy. Well we never returned. I decided to try chianti the other night and I was not impressed with the service or the food. I’m so sorry that I even attempted to think that it would be any different
