Best Mexican Food in Tucson and not just for the food truck category. Also would put their Sonoran Dog up against any in town as I believe theirs to be the BEST! I honestly can not find one critical thing to say and could rant on all the positives for days. Just TRUSTME, this is a MUST go to when in Tucson. I eat there at least 3 times a week and stop by with all of my out of town guests. You truly cant beat the prices or the food! The late night hours are convenient as well.

The best place to get a quick lunch or dinner. I highly recommend this place. The food is simply Amazing!!! Diana and her crew put out food at an alarming rate and its fresh and delicious. You will not be disappointed. I must warn you. It’s habit forming! But that’s a good thing. Support this Tucson original! It’s so worth it.

For all you authentic Mexican food lovers, I am going to keep this super simple for you… If you want to try the best Mexican food in Tucson, you need to find a way to get here QUICK! I have had the tacos, burritos, carne asada, pollo asada, and the Sonoran dogs and I have literally been left speechless. I don’t know if it is something they have hidden in their grill, if it is the seasonings, or if it is just they know what in the hell they are doing… however; I do know one thing… I felt like I was eating on the side of the road in Mexico, that is how authentic the taste is. Aaaannnnddd I heard they just opened up another one close to my job… this spells nothing but trouble! I honestly think I could eat here everyday. **Google, please take me to the closest Aqui Con El Nene** I’m out!

What a great food truck. I haven’t tried their brick-and-mortar locations because this is just a couple of miles from my house. The carne asada and pork are my favorites. They’re perfectly grilled and served. The salsa bar has no equal. Overall, this is about the best taco and burrito place in town. Honestly, their Sonoran dogs are good, but not my favorite. Since I’m not a big Sonoran dog fan in general, it’s no big deal.

Awesome carne asada tacos and salsa bar choices. The taco truck was clean and had a sheltered outdoor eating area with fans blowing on the salsa bar to keep the flies out.

Came to this lovely little food truck with my fiancé tonight for dinner, and it was our first time. We thought we would check it out because of the great Unilocal reviews, and they are all so right! We ordered 3 asada tacos, one small carne asada burrito, and a large caramelo to share, and every single thing we got was delicious. It’s also very inexpensive, very fairly priced! They have a giant salsa bar, which we really enjoyed! We noticed also that almost everyone would get a hot dog, I will definitely try those next time I’m back. I would completely recommend this place to anyone looking for some delicious authentic Mexican food! PS, It IS cash only, so make sure to bring cash!

My favorite taco stand in Tucson! If you are looking for authentic sonoran hot dogs, carne asada tacos, or just tacos in general, you must visit this place! My favorite is the«Papancha» a huge baked potato filled with carne asada, melted cheese, and mushrooms! It is so filling and super affordable :) My second favorite is the«Taco Yaqui» two carne asada tacos with a green chile(caution: it can be super hot). This place is amazing!!! The only downside is the fact that they only take cash.

Sonoran-Style Hot Dog($ 2.50): Grilled bacon-wrapped hot dog topped with beans, grilled onions, tomato, mayonnaise, cream sauce, mustard, and jalapeño sauce. This was my first time with a Sonoran Hot Dog, but I came specifically for it. Lots of fun toppings that make it very tasty and you definitely can’t hate the price. Adobada Torta($ 5.25): Carne Adobada, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, avocado. I’m a big fan of Adobada and this one had a good flavor. Vegetables were fresh and the bread was good. It was really hot during our visit and even with the tented area, it was pretty uncomfortable. Unless the weather is cooler or you visit in the evening, I’d recommend taking your food to go. But make sure you check out the very impressive salsa and condiment bar!

I live on the Northwest side of Tucson and Sonoran hot dogs are hard to come by around these parts mainly because of county and oro valley restrictions. But since I grew up in central Tucson where food carts are on every corner every once in a while I will get a craving for a Sonoran hot dog. A pleasure it was to find this little gem just a few miles down the hill. For $ 2.50 per dog this is a steal. A soft warm sweet bun with a Bacon wrapped hot dog perfectly grilled to perfection. Layered with soft sweet grilled onions, pinto beans, tomatoes, Mayo, mustard and a green sauce. A perfectly grilled pepper on the side for that added note of spice. Top it off with a nice add on bar and a soda of just about every flavor. I recommend either apple or pineapple soda. You can have your over rated commercial locations that are loud and over crowded like BK or Guero Canelo, but I promise they don’t even come close to delivering the quality of these Sonoran dogs. So if you have a hankerin’ for a delicious Sonoran hot dog head on down to El Nene!

The Sonora Dogs here are delicious! Let’s start with a brief review of the bun — OMG probably the best I’ve ever had. This is authentic, fresh, and absolutely worth every penny($ 2.50 for a Sonora Dog — cash only at this location!). The hot dog had great flavor and the bacon was cooked well(unlike some places where you get soggy bacon wrapped around the dog). Lots of authentic toppings and a pepper come with the Sonora dog. But they also have a small bar of other condiments if you want to add something like cheese, pico, etc. So glad to have found this place during the«Search for Tucson’s Best Sonora Dog» challenge. Yummy! Definitely coming here instead of my «usual» spot now, as this actually is much better.

Flies, flies, and more flies! It would be 5 star for take out because you wouldn’t have to deal with flies. But since it’s a food truck, it’s all outdoors and the flies are annoying.

Loving the Soft tacos and red salsa! Every time I drive by this place there is a line. I’m always too hungry to wait but now I regret it! The tacos are yummy and less than $ 2!!! I tried the carne Asada tacos and the pollo(chicken). They definitely did not skimp out on the meat(thumbs up). The service is quick and the salsa bar is awesome– so many options. The red salsa is make your nose run hot. Try it! Tip– the parking lot is dirt so don’t wash your car before eating!

So, this is where I finally tried my first Sonoran hot dog. A food truck out of all places. What did I think? It was definitely different, and justifiably I can say that a Sonoran hot dog is pretty legit. Let’s get to it. What is this place? Well, since it was close by and according to Unilocalers in Tucson, this place was a great place to get the Sonoran hot dog compared to the other more famous places. One thing I do regret was not being able to try all the other types of versions so I could compare, but nonetheless I came here so I could say that I had it and I have to say I enjoyed it. What do you need to know about this place? *********CASHONLY*********** — this is probably the biggest thing that you should know. So supposedly this Sonoran hot dog is basically a hotdog rolled in bacon served with some mustard, beans, grilled onions, tomatoes and then from there it seems like from place to place they have variations. Honestly, I only had one hot dog, and I sort of wished I got another one. One didn’t do it justice. I also ordered some tacos, of course due to my diet I didn’t get it with any tortillas and substituted it with the protein style. It was not bad. It was small, but that was expected. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and if I could have changed anything about my experience it would be that I got another hot dog! Get it and check this place out!

This has to be some of the best. everything I ate here so far. Mexican food in the Tucson area. For coming out of a little taco cart, man they know how to do it right. I know its practically fighting words in this town, but I’d venture to say El Nene is up there for best Sonoran Dog in Tucson. The bacon on the hot dog is really what shines, perfectly crispy with just enough blackened ends to lend the dog that bit of smoke it needs. — — NOTE: THISPLACEISCASHONLY — — I made that mistake the first time. My friend and I ventured from across town, eagerly awaiting our chance to try some of the carne asada and famous sonoran dogs, only to realize they didn’t take cards. Also I wasn’t aware but apparently they won(almost won?) some national contest for best hot dog on a food show of some sort. Pretty cool. We finally arrived at El Nene’s prepared, cash in hand, and ready to go. I think there is an ATM next door but I’m principled when it comes to ATM fees. I got a sonoran hot dog, and a few different types of tacos. First, cabeza is my favorite type taco meat, and El Nene’s does it very well. Slow cooked, juicy, succulent, a little fatty but I like it that way. If you haven’t ever, try the cabeza. Now the carne asada. some of the best I’ve ever had to be sure. They cook it on a smokey grill out back, you can see it when you’re pulling up to park behind the tent. The smoked lime flavor, and tenderness of the steak is perfect. They also have plenty of salsas and toppings on their salsa bar to add some zest anyway you see fit. Tacos also come in varying forms of soft or crispiness. I had both a tacos dorados, and a regular soft taco. I have to say, the dorado was the better of the two. The deep fried corn shell was perfectly well done. For a little taco cart on a corner in the flowing wells neighborhood, I am seriously impressed. This is fresh cooked, no-bologna, ready to order authentic Mexican food. I highly recommend giving it a try.

This is an EXCELLENT place to get your Mexican street food. He has a permanent structure with a roof, a fan, and seating for about 50. I went there at around 3 o’clock and the place was hopping busy. I had the Chipalon style Sonoran dawg and a flour tortilla carne asada taco. Both were excellent and I enjoyed them. However, I could not taste the bacon at all in the dawg. And compared to Hotdog Solutions, I could hardly taste the bacon and the cheese in it. The taco, however, was excellent. They have great food here and I can’t wait to try other items on their menu. I love how they serve grilled green onions. These are the green onions with the big white bulbs at the end and they are quite tasty grilled.

OMG I love this place! The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because of the wait. This place does get very busy. The first time I ate their I was craving it again and had it twice in one week. I love street tacos. I heard all their food is good so you can’t go wrong. They have a huge condiment bar with different salsas, veggies and everything you need for your food. The place only takes cash so don’t forget to your your money.

The one place my friend told me I’d have to try in Tucson… El Nene! Food: Sonoran Hot Dog — So I’m guessing this is an AZ thing because I’ve never heard of this anywhere else except Phoenix and Tucson. Pretty much a decked up dirty dog(bacon wrapped hot dog) on a fancier bun. It hit the spot. Carne Asada Taco — One of the best I’ve had in a while. Very flavorful and juicy. Service: Taco truck ordering and wait. Self serve on sauces. Not much to say about service… you’re ordering from a taco truck. Environment: Tented dining area where there is a fan, self serve salsa, benches/tables and plenty of flies. I sat where the fan blew thinking the flies won’t bother me then, but my napkins ended up flying all over the place. Fail… I know… Price: Taco truck prices = thumbs up Food: 4 Service: 3 Environment: 3 Price: 4

I know food trucks have come a long way, but I was still a bit wary about eating here. Once I got a good look at the food though, that went right out the window! The place is a little hard to spot when driving, so just look for the ‘Rusty Nail’ sign that leads to a bar sharing the same parking lot. Recommend: Sonoran dogs Tortas(very buttery goodness!) Tacos Burrito Jr.‘s …ALL were excellent! I usually get a little irritated when a place receives a high rating for subpar Mexican food, but not this place. Everything was so flavorful, tender, and fresh. The employees are another asset to this place. They are very friendly, fast, and obviously do a great job of cooking. When we were done eating they wrapped up our food in little meat department packaging for us! I really appreciated that extra step. They play music in the seating area, and there is a flat screen TV. The open tent seating area is kept very clean after each table leaves, and they have an awesome salsa bar with just about every condiment you can think of. I usually drink my salsa before I start to gauge a restaurant’s salsa making capabilities, and I must say, this place makes great hot and savory salsas! Drinks were soda out of a can(bottle Pepsi), and cash only~!!! I’m excited to have a new place to haunt.
