We had a great time with the rental. Nothing really to exciting besides the fact that it took a while to get the deposit back.

I rented a property from Asset Assistance (aka
) and the house itself was good. The company owns of bunch of similar looking newer two story properties around campus that are rented to students. Maintenance and such was fine and the house was in good condition with great amenities. The problem came when I checked out at the end of the lease. After a walk-​through with the the office staff who noted that the place «was in the best shape» they’ve seen I expected to receive almost all of my $ 1000 deposit (this was for each of the four renters so the total deposit was $ 4000). Much to my surprise they kept almost half of the deposit, billing me for a series of repairs and cleaning that they didn’t do (as confirmed by the person who moved in shortly after me), including 40 hrs of cleaning services in a house that was already completely clean and empty. I went to reconcile this at the office and they stonewalled me, apparently they’re used to this sort of response from their tenants. Basically they defrauded myself and my roommates of a considerable amount of money.
