I had an absolutely great experience working with Bamboo Ranch to acquire some large bamboo plants to expand the small collection in my backyard. Owners Matt and Holly are extremely responsive and being that I’m in Phoenix and they’re in Tucson, were than gracious in indulging me in quite a few emails, including photos of the plants I was interested in, before I finally settled on a purchase. From helping with the directions to loading and tips for securing the bamboo for the journey up the interstate, Matt and Holly were wonderful to work with. They have wide variety of bamboo, including some choice clumping varieties that you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere(B. Dolichoclada, B. Hirose, B. Dissimulator, etc.). Additionally, if you’ve ever tried to acquire bamboo in good size, especially bigger than 3-gallon, you’re no doubt aware that shipping gets crazy expensive, and past about 5-gallon, shipping isn’t even offered, so having a local source is just about the only economical choice. All the more reason to appreciate the variety and breadth of their inventory, because many of these bamboo species would be otherwise unobtainable in these sizes, if even available at all. For a little clarification, their bamboo operation is housed on private, residential property and customers can view their groves and available plants by appointment, including on weekends. I had no trouble setting up time via email to pick up my plants, even just a day ahead of time, and they are always quick to respond via email or phone. Absolutely fantastic customer service. If you’re looking for some Arizona acclimated bamboo, especially some of the more exotic varieties, I highly recommend these folks. They are a great resource, extremely easy to work with and have a huge selection at competitive prices. My only regret is that I didn’t know about them sooner, but now that I’ve found them, I will definitely be giving them more business in the near future. Just have to find someplace to plant some more bamboo first!
