Barre3

I have been to two classes now, both led by Chelsea and she is amazing! She keeps it fun and entertaining and definitely challenges you throughout the class. I am totally hooked!

While vacationing and visiting our daughter my husband and I took a class at this studio. It was an exceptional experience. I loved it so much I went back two more times.
It was challenging but all of the staff and instructors made it a wonderful experience. The studio is comfortable, inspiring, and invigorating. The students vary in ability so everyone fits in. They also were really nice and friendly. Check-​in was a breeze. When you are a new client everyone takes you under their wing.
Kate, Lauren, and Sue were the instructors. All of their teaching styles were different which made it more enjoyable as a newbie. It isn’t hard to «catch on» because they give you all the instruction you need to get the best workout.
I would recommend you try it if you have the opportunity. You will love it. My only regret is there isn’t a studio in our state to keep up this new practice. I will go again for sure.

I really enjoyed every class I took here! Every instructor had positive energy, were well-​versed on the routines, and offered helpful modifications. The studio itself is beautiful, clean and welcoming.
Definitely get ready for a fun yet challenging class that still won’t be too high-​impact on your joints.

Barre3 Tucson is amazing! As a recent newbie, I really appreciated the friendliness of the teachers and front desk when checking in for the first time. I feel welcome. I am encouraged throughout my workouts by my peers and the teacher. There are plenty of modifications for those that may need something different depending on where they are at that day. I can’t wait to keep going!

Whenever I travel i search out a barre class I love to see how different and incentive instructors can be — barre3 is a beautiful studio with a great approach to the barre method, very much focused on toning with different variations that id never done for seat and thigh work — terrific helpful and inspiring instructor and motivating music — a perfect class all around.

I’m completely addicted to Barre3 I’m usually not a group fitness person but I truly enjoy Barre3. All the instructors are knowledgeable and offer modifications for various levels of fitness or injuries. Each class routine varies depending on the instructor however the format is the same. You would think this would lead to burn out but actually it is quite a different story. With each class I continuously find myself challenged and wanting to come back for me. I drive over 20 minutes and it is well worth the daily drive.
Barre3 is deeply engaged in our local community and offer a variety of give back options.

I love Barre3 and it gives me one more reason to drive to the beautiful La Encantada on the weekend! While there is no classification of «advanced,» «intermediate,» or «intro» classes, I think the class is fit for all levels and ages. Depending on the instructor, the routine may be different, but a class always include the following components: warm up, arm/​leg, ball exercise, core.
After a couple times, I have a pretty good grasp of different styles of different instructors. Some are more intense and vigorous than others (and definitely got my heart rate up and made my arsee sore the next day), and some focus more on fine-​tuning my muscles with smaller, more manageable exercises. I always feel so refreshed and accomplished after each Barre3 class.
Barre3 also has tons of outreach classes. I think they held a couple free community classes in Whole Foods on River. I have also been to their instructor-​in-​training class and it was just as fantastic.
Also, their Barre3 bars are soooooo delicious! While it is not free ($ 2/​each), I was given a recipe and re-​post it here. Enjoy!
Barre3 Energy Bar

INGREDIENTS:
6 dates, pitted
2 tbsp coconut oil
¼ cup sunflower butter or almond butter
¼ cup goji berries (raisins work too)
¼ cup coconut flakes, shredded
¼ cup ground flax
2 tsp ground cinnamon
A couple pinches sea salt (unless sunflower or almond butter is salted)
1 cup almonds
Handful cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place the pitted dates and coconut oil in the base of your food processor. Add the seed or nut butter. Whirl these three ingredients until blended.
Add the goji berries or raisins, coconut flakes, ground flax, cinnamon and sea salt, and whirl in the food processor again, until the mixture is well incorporated. It’s okay if it’s a bit more chunky at this point.
Add the almonds and the cacao nibs or chocolate chips, and pulse your food processor until you have a chunky mass that looks like cookie dough.
Scoop dough-​like mixture into an 8×8 glass container, and press the mixture down with the back of a spoon.
Cool in the fridge for at least one hour to harden. Cut into bars to grab-​and-​go to your barre3 class, and store extras in the fridge.

Can I give 10 stars? I am in love… I’ve taken a LOT of classes already. This works. Where else can you lose almost 15 pounds (and lots of inches) in just over three months. granted. I have been working hard. but, this class if FUN. It goes by so fast. the music is wonderful, the instructors are great. the owner is an inspiring woman! Finally a Barre studio in Tucson. It is not like some of the other studios that can be stuffy. It is warm, welcoming… the best. I am hooked. a fan for life. Try it out. you will not be dissapointed!!!

This was such a great class. The studio is really quite beautiful. A bunch of us ladies who are Unilocalers were lucky enough to spend some time enjoying the joys of a barre class. You work your muscles in small moves that really can benefit you without that much straining and grunting. The place is in a great location in the La Encandada shopping center on Sunrise and Campbell.

Barre3 is my new healthy addiction! I tried it out after several friends recommended it and I was hooked instantly. All the instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. They make it so everyone knows what they’re doing, even if it’s your first class. I work muscles I didn’t know I have. I have a knee injury and they always suggest modifications for various levels of fitness or injuries.

Amazing workout for a beginner or advanced level athlete. Similar to yoga’s methodology, you go at your own pace/​level. It is a cross between pilates, ballet barre stretches, isolations with small movements, weight training and yoga. It is a full-​body toning experience. Perhaps it should be called «Barre Million» since I felt like a million bucks afterwards?! I liked how the studio room had the perfect amount of A/​C and the instructor adjusted the fans and lighting throughout the workout. The playlist is current and upbeat and the instructors Katie (owner) and Susie are motivating and positive.
The class lasts an hour and time flies. Just so you know, they do not have showers but there is a changing room and bathroom filled with extras (hair dryer, spray, lotion etc). You will put your gym bag in an open cubbie that the receptionist will supervise. If you want to try a complimentary class, call up to see if there is a new instructor training. They also have a good deal on a 3 class package «tester» but you will get hooked for more and more!
*The next day I had a slight soreness in my arms and I felt good. I can’t wait to go again!

Wow! I love Barre3. I recently tried this place out for the first time yesterday and I am feeling it today. The owner (Kate) taught my class and was super upbeat through her tough routine. I loved the suggestions of different options for more intense workouts even if I did respond with a grimace everytime one was mentioned.
Location & space is excellent! The room is light and airy with tons of AC/​fans. The music was fun light pop which was fitting with the routines. I’m signing up for sure.

I joined under the recommendation of Kami C who raved about awesome barre classes in LA. Luckily before they even opened they offered a founding members membership that «somewhat» fit into my graduate student budget and I made the commitment. I had never done a barre workout before, and wow, was I impressed!
The studio is absolutely beautiful, you feel like your walking into a spa rather than a workout studio because of the huge mirrors, wood floors, soft lighting and airy space. The studio even smells amazing — I fell in love before even trying the workout.
The workout is broken into 4 parts, a full body motion warm up, arms & upper body at the barre, t&a (thighs and ass, lol) at the barre, then core work with the Barre3 ball at your mat. It’s fast paced with great music and constant motivation from the instructors. I took several classes from Kate, the owner, as well as Susie. Both are amazing and keep you working hard for the full hour. During my first class, I was working my lower body «up an inch, down an inch», trying to keep my balance through uncontrolled muscle shakes — or as the Barre3 girls call it «the Barre3 shakes» — and Kate comes over to me and says «gorgeous Nina!» and that just made my day. I loved the positivity, and that kept me coming back for more.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t continue my membership at Barre3, because I live downtown and the commute plus the membership didn’t work for me. :(But, you know what that means, Downtown Tucson, listen up, we need a Barre3 Studio!!!

I have tried a number of barre workouts in San Diego and Phoenix. Barre3 ranks right up there with my favorites primarily because it incorporates yoga. Also, every teacher that I have taken a class from seems very knowledgeable & offers modifications as well as advanced movements. Regarding the rates, they are comparable with rates at other barre studios, reasonable considering it is an overall body workout. I am so thankful not to have to drive to Phoenix anymore to get my barre fix.

Gah, I am LITERALLY obsessed. I was able to get into one of the free classes bc it’s taught by an instructor-​in-​training (Nina) and I absolutely LOVED the workout. I do a lot of high intensity workouts (Insanity, T25) and I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the workout as much as I did. Barre3 combines yoga, pilates and ballet into one super fun, low intensity but rewarding workout. The best part is that afterwards, I didn’t feel like I wanted to die, which is good because I went to a morning class and had work right afterward. I can’t wait to go back! The prices are a little out of my budget but if you really want something you make it happen, right?

This is what Tucson has been missing. I am so glad that we now have barre classes! I recently moved here from San Francisco where I did many barre classes, and was missing that caliber of a workout here. Then I found the newly opened Barre3. First of all, its a gorgeous studio. It feels spa like with the dark wood and overall design. But the actual workout is the absolute best. It’s a total body workout from the warmup. You use light weights with small movements to tone your body into a long, lean dancers body. The workout incorporates a lot of pilates and yoga movements, which I love, but with sneaky bits of cardio and strength training. The hour goes by fast thanks to the upbeat instructors and music. I don’t have kids, but they do offer childcare during some of the classes too, which is probably a plus for many. Try it and you won’t be sorry!

Years ago, I tried (and loved) Pure Barre La Jolla and as time passed by, dedicated barre studios opened in the Phoenix area but not in Tucson. Living in Tucson requires patience with the arrival of any big city trends (e.g. Lululemon, blow-​dry salons, juice bars, etc) but the opening of Barre3 was worth the wait!
So far, I’ve only experienced one class (by the beautiful/​inspiring Susie S.). Leah E’s initial Unilocal review is a perfect description of the Barre3 experience. The class flows really nicely with several different transitions, including: intensive arm/​core/​leg work with the barre, coordinated strength work with hand weights and core work on mat with their Core Ball. Even with a strong yoga/​pilates background, Barre3 is definitely tough/​challenging but addictive. I highly recommend Barre3 to anyone of different strength levels, including workout newbies, as the instructors are very helpful in providing modifications to each movement.
The only drawback is the class/​package prices; they match typical barre studio rates, which is more expensive than yoga but less than pilates reformer classes. If I lived closer without many other workout commitments, I would have purchased the unlimited classes (per month) membership package.
Overall, I am excited to incorporate Barre3 (hopefully once a week) to my yoga practice, road cycling and running. Barre3 — Welcome to Tucson… we look forward to your studio’s growth, while strengthening our bodies!
P. S. Just come dressed in your favorite yoga-​ish clothes. They have storage for bags/​shoes, complimentary workout towels and their gorgeous bathroom has multiple hair products, etc for a quick post-​barre refresh.
